We had 2 nights in PP - well worth it btw... on the way to Siem Reap. The staff here are lovely, smiley and helpful. The place itself is a bit tired looking but they were in the middle of renovating the restaurant so I guess that will mean the rooms get a facelift? Saying that, we chose this place for the lovely long balcony for fresh air and checking out the street below. Clean and large rooms, did the trick. It's just south of the main road running to independence monument and a bit of a long walk to royal palace but it's an easy tuk tuk back if needed. Great pastries next door commes a la mason, and next to that on the street corner a great breakfast stall for fried chicken rice and egg. Brown coffee just a bit further down for a great brew.
I have stayed at King Grand Suites 4 times over the last two years - the most recent being March of 2017. This hotel is consistently wonderful. It has a lovely boutique vibe to it. The restaurant/bar provides a great breakfast. There's a nice pool with a beautiful outdoor seating area. I've always stayed for business, but this would be a nice place for families too. Great location very close to great Khmer and Western restaurants. The rooms are very nice - the ones I've had so far have had comfortable sitting areas in addition to the beds. And the bath/shower areas are very modern and nice.
Lovely small hotel in a handy location. Delightful staff, spacious and clean room! Great aircon and little balcony. Pool was so lovely and cool!! The Score sports bar is a stroll away for the sports interested!
We booked 2 rooms, family suite and deluxe twin room. We arrived at the hotel earlier than the check in time. However they accommodated to our early check in and we could check in the hotel around 1130am. The staffs at the reception spoke excellent english and really friendly and welcoming. Extremely good service and the moment we asked for something, it was done almost immediately. Rooms were extremely spacious and family suites had a tub and standing shower. Rooms were very new and well maintained. A lot of good food and cafes near the hotel within walking distance. The staff were extremely efficient when i told them about some mosquito breeding and they immediately changed the water and got rid of the stagnant water which really impressed me. I would definitely come back to stay again when i go to phnom penh.
We stayed at this hotel in March for 2nights. We were travelling with our 4 children and because they only had double occupancy, we had to book 3 rooms. We had asked to have the rooms on the same floor through the agent who booked it. When we arrived, they did not have all the rooms on the same floor; one of the children's rooms was 2 floors below the other two rooms. I requested a change, but they said nothing was available; this was annoying especially when we had booked months and months ago! The other children's room ended up having two double beds in it anyhow. I asked why we had to book 3 rooms, when the room clearly could accommodate 4 people??? The kids ended up all staying in the same room (on the same floor as us). But I was not happy that the room they stayed in clearly could accommodate 4 people, and I ended up paying for an empty room two floors down. This was not a great first impression. The rooms however were nice, a little dark, but nicely decorated, clean etc. The hotel itself is quite cute. The breakfast is really lovely - it's a la carte, and we tried a few things and everything was excellent. The fried rice for breakfast was the best we had for our whole trip! Our kids tried pancakes and they were great too. The juice glasses were like shot glasses, but the servers were really nice and always got you more juice! The location of the hotel was good. Overall a decent stay.
stayed for 2 nights and very pleased with my choice , happily stay here again. Quality feel about the hotel even if not large. Room was big , comfy with all the mod cons. Great breakfast choices, nice bar with happy hour 4-7 and very friendly and helpful staff. It has a small pool to cool off with loungers around the outside. Good location in a nice part of the city and within walking distance of the grand palace and river. Tours are available from reception but we did our own thing using tuk tuks.
While walking near my hotel I passed the King Grand Suites Restaurant on Street 57. The menu displayed outside the entrance looks interesting. The staff are opening the door for me and welcoming with a charming welcoming smile. The menu has a mix of Khmer, Thai and Western food. The service is very good and professional. Note: I did not stay in this hotel, just visiting the restaurant for a meal. Unfortunately I did not found a listing in Tripadvisor for this restaurant.
Unless you are staying at those international brand hotels, most smaller hotels like this will only have a handful of staff who can speak and understand basic English. Despite the barrier, their service level is above average in terms of attentiveness but definitely excellent in terms of passion! Initially stayed in room 407 (twin bed) but the aircon is the standing type, not the ceiling type, therefore it was warmer and less comfortable. But a twin bed room should comfortably be able to take up to 4 pax because it is 2 queen beds!!! Room is definitely huge with a u shaped sofa.... however I would recommend 207 (friends stayed there) instead of 407 due to the diff in aircon. After which we changed to 205 (double room) because all our friends are on level 2, which the staff gladly and efficiently did the exchange, and it was even better. Great aircon, and it has a BATHTUB! So for couples looking for bathtubs, maybe can do social request. 206 is also double room but no bathtub. The ceiling aircon added respite to the heat! All the mozzies in Phnom Penh are commando trained (haha), so please bring ur insect repellant! Breakfast is by set, one set of main, one side order and one drink. The mains that are good that we have tried are the congee, fried noodles (Asian section) while for the western section, I would opt for the croissant ham and cheese. The pancakes are good but if you do not want them soggy, pls ask them to exclude the fruits and peanut butter. French toast tasted odd and the big breakfast is not very worth it. There are many cafes nearby, would highly recommend brown cafe for larger selection of desert cakes as well as good coffee and nice environment. The Starbucks is beautiful, great for relaxation as well. Beside brown cafe, there is a flora massage that costs 8usd for an hour of traditional Khmer massage which is good! Would recommend this hotel as it is convenient and nicely located.
Returning to a place you loved a couple of years ago can turn out to be a deception. this definitly does not apply to the King Grand Suites. It's just as good as it was, the staff is as always, wonderfull and attentive, the rooms are as nice, clean and spacious and if anything; location is better because this neighborhood is even more trendier than a few years ago. If you do not feel like going out, the lobby restaurant offers some of the best quality food we've had in Cambodia at more than decent prices. A must try! Now, without a doubt, our place to stay in Phom Penh.
I had 2 nights in Phnom Penh, 1 at the beginning and 1 at the end of a 5-day trip to Cambodia. I stayed for 1 night at King grand Suites and wow- what value for money: great location (near Street 51- a happening restaurant district), great large room with bath tub/shower and a breakfast! All for $40 (As I took a non-refundable discount price on Agoda for a Superior Double room). The regular rate is $57, but I got upgraded to the Deluxe Double and the two attached Pics are of this room. I am now feeling a fool for booking InterContinental (overpriced comfort) for the other night, for miles + $100! If i ever come back- I am staying at King Grand Suites again!
