We had a wonderful 4 night stay at this lovely heritage hotel with friends. In addition to being a charming hotel in a great location, the staff and the Manager Charles were exceedingly helpful and went above and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful vacation. They helped with arranging cars, activities, restaurant bookings and information on site seeing activities. We were both upgraded to transfer suites which were very generous sized suites and had inclusions such as buffet breakfast, daily afternoon tea, an evening cocktail and a complimentary massage at the spa. There is a lap pool set in beautiful gardens and I would highly recommend this hotel when you are in Penang.
Service rendered by all staff is excellent that I cannot experience it in any other hotels that I have stayed. Very friendly and personalized. They are eager to get to know us and assist in our vacation here by recommending us to many interesting places to visit and eat besides the hotel restaurant. We were even offered complimentary tea with snacks and wine in the evening. We had the chance to meet the GM Charles throughout our 3 days stay and he was very pleasant. It shows from his leadership. Thank you.
The hotel is a beautifully restored and decorated pre war building with such fabulous character and style . Attention to detail to every aspect of the establishment is very commendable . Great location & fantastic service . Congratulations to GM Charles & Team, the team was very accommodating , professional , and well trained .
Stayed a day in Hotel Penaga. Hotel is nice and location at the heart of town is pretty good. Room is nicely decorated and. Hotel room do need up keep to the prime as the hotel is nicely done up. Hotel staff are very pleasant. The garden is beautiful. Spa is nicely decorated too. Services are excellent.
We stayed 3 days at this hotel and were entirely satisfied. The location is excellent to explore George Town. Almost everything is at walking distance. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The decor has a nice retro flavour which fits very well with the hotel's overall environment. We enjoyed the large balcony and the exquisite breakfast. The staff were very kind and efficient, as well as fluent in English. The only drawback was that our room was located on the hotel's side which overlooks the street, just opposite to a very noisy motorcycle repair workshop which tends to operate late at night. Rooms overlooking the garden are therefore recommended.
The Hotel Penaga was a lovely place to stay a night. The room was very clean and fitted with everything you’d ever need. I’m definitely coming back. The complimentary mini bar soft drinks were definitely appreciated in the heat. The breakfast was decent for a small hotel and it’s in a great location.
Stayed here with my boyfriend for 5 nights! On arrival you’re greeted with fresh juice and cold face towels. Each room is beautifully decorated with four poster beds and vintage Chinese furniture. There are jacuzzi baths. Hotel and room are very clean. Breakfast each morning is lovely, plenty of fresh fruit, bread, jams and hot food. Staff are very helpful, happy to advise on day trips, restaurants, getting around etc! About 2min walk to main bar and food streets. Great location! Would definitely come back here again!
The hotel is in a great location only 20 mins walk from little India and Armenian Street. The furniture is all replica antique Chinese style, beautiful and looks the real deal. The rooms are all hard wood floors and very clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and even gave us some ang pao for CNY!! Breakfast was average but decent, no room service but not a big deal. There were quite a few mosquitos in the rooms though which was a bit annoying. Over all, decent place
First time we stayed in this hotel.and can safely say we won't be back.room was dark and dingy, standard of cleanliness poor.towels were discoloured toilet seat had seen better days. Breakfast a absolute joke choice of food non existent, fresh orange juice was like a weak diluting juice. As for the staff ,polite saying morning to you but as for asking for help or information they just ignored us and carried on speaking to each other. Was told the lift was out of order that week, but found out it has been out of order for a long time.went to 3 other hotels in Far East on this holiday and they left this 1 standing. Very tired hotel needing a lot of TLC.When you came in at night the bar area was shut.says you can get evening meal if you require but that was never open
We stayed here 23-27Dec. One night my husband found a little rat in the middle of the night twitching about a snack pack! Next morning I saw it zipping into the wall between the bathtub and the wall! On our 1st evening when we had wine by the garden near the pool, several huge rats ran about the gardens! So scary and traumatising as I am so scared of these ugly creatures! Never never stay here again! Also breakfast was so so poorly.Restaurant doesnt look like one. Poached eggs were not available on the ala carte menu. Local fruits eg papaya and pineapple were so hard they were not ripe! Beef bacon and chicken sausage were dry! Tea tasted awful and coffee, apparently local was not filtered properly. Except on 1st and last morning when we had to check out 7am, we decided to go out to look for a better breakfast!! Not a proper restaurant! I wrote on their website 2 weeks ago.NO ONE bothered to respond yet!!
