The best adjective I can describe Hotel Lyon Bastille is great functionality. The hotel's proximity to Gare de Lyon train station made it a must for weary Traveller. The hotel staff was very accommodating and helpful, especially Sophie. She give us directions how to go to Castle Versailles without incurring expensive tours. The hotel has a welcoming lobby and good rooms. The lift was very small but it served its purpose. The best trait for me was the shower. Easy to operate and the hot water comes very fast. You don't need to find the correct temperature by adjusting 2 knobs. The breakfast for 12 euros was very basic but it's ok. Another great find was the Chinese restaurant up front of the hotel, it was great for us rice eaters from the Philippines. Look for our friend Luisa. Try their Coreander chicken. Another gem is the convenience store nearby and the Pharmacy. Great location for a hotel.
Considering its only a three-star hotel I was really impressed with the whole experience. Room was compact but comfortable, obviously well-used but clean. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was plentiful and un-fussy, with the most delicious coffee. Very well situated, too. I was very happy there!
It is a very short walk from the train station. The single room I had was very tiny. But that is not unusual for Paris. And the price was comparable to other 3 star hotels in the area. The breakfast was very expensive compared to nearby restaurants and cafes.
Cordial attendants, clean close to all transportations but infortunately no safe in the room clean , quet room. STAYED ON LY ONE NIGHT would definetely return for a longer stay if they provide a safe for documents etc.
Within close proximity to both the train station and Bastille this hotel is located in a nice location. The rooms however did not look like its advertisements, a lot smaller than we expected. The walls are also really thin and when you're with your family and you're next to a couple on their honeymoon it brings up a lot of.....innapropriate conversation.
We stayed here for 3 nights - very underwhelmed to say the least! Good location if you are going to the Accorhotels Arena but other than that, it's awful. Many cafes around but nowhere spectacular. We paid 85 euros per night, the advertised price was 195 per night, I certainly would NOT pay this. The room itself was ok - the sheets on the bed were stained with blood droplets and the bathroom was very dirty. I am glad we only used the hotel as a base. The staff were average - some were rude and unhelpful. Please note - if booking a taxi to CDG from the hotel, theres a 7 euro booking fee when getting the taxi, which the hotel do not make you aware of.. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone - the location is terrible - rather seedy and dirty. It has put me off ever returning to Paris! Oh and the cleaner doesn't knock before coming to make up your room - so don't expect any privacy!!
I stay at the Lyon Bastille every time I'm in Paris. I originally chose it because of its location -- a block from the Gare de Lyon, which makes if very accessible when arriving from CDG (by "Le Bus Direct" -- formerly Les Cars Air France) and when coming into Paris by train from the south. But I return largely because of the very helpful and friendly staff, especially Sophie and (I think) Jean-Marc. They have helped me out in English when my French fails, will happily make reservations or other arrangements when asked and are simply very nice people. The hotel isn't anything terribly fancy, but the rooms are clean and efficient and it is a very good value. My only complaint is that the (free) wifi code must be re-entered far too frequently. Aside from that, I highly recommend this hotel for anyone who wants a convenient, reasonable and friendly place to stay in Paris.
It's in a good location, steps from the Gard de Lyon train station. Bed was not made, had to ask for sheets. walls are thin, easy to hear conversations at all hours. Decent option if you are looking for somewhere to stay near the train. Just don't expect anything spectacular
We had a room on the second floor. We were disappointed that our room looked nothing like the pictures on their website. Our room had a tired looking decor not like the charming colourful pictures displayed online. The outside of the building was very pretty. Hotel was close to the train station. The room was very warm at night and when we opened the windows the traffic was loud. The room was spacious and clean we were happy with our stay overall.
A very typical French hotel located just 3 minutes (walking) from the Gare de Lyon in a relatively calm side street. Very clean and different from the normal business hotels were you wake up in the morning a need some time to recognize were you are. The personnel is friendly and supportive. Very competitive pricing. We will come back during our next trip.
