We stayed here for what was supposed to be a romantic weekend over 15-17 September 2017. Stay here if: -You don't mind waiting 10 minutes for a lift -You don't mind damp smells in your room -You don't mind bringing your own soap & shampoo -You don't mind having no towels in your room -You don't mind being offered a damp towel after you've had to go downstairs to collect the towel yourself, because they only have one member of staff, and because they managed not to complete their laundry for the day -You don't mind having your emails ignored by the hotel manager when you ask for a discount afterwards. The location, and the staff who were there, were good. Real pity about the management. Photos of another guests's comments in the guestbook; and how they encourage guests to leave positive reviews to balance realistic ones like this:
We arrived about 8pm on a Friday night and had no problems checking in. The room was average sized, clean and comfortable but some damp was evident on the walls and there was a bit of a smell when we first arrived. Opening the window sorted this out and wasn't a problem afterwards. The bed was huge, had clean sheets and was very comfortable. Bathroom was modern with a shower. Breakfast was offered but at €12 each seemed quite expensive so we decided to eat elsewhere. Overall a decent budget hotel; clean and comfortable but in need of some tlc
This was our third stay at the Axel Opera - we make it to Paris about once a year. Always a good base to explore from and lots within walking distance - also several metro stops on different lines within a short distance. We visited a cabaret called Nouvelle Eve on this visit and it was a pleasantly flat walk to the venue in Montmartre - probably 30 minutes (essentially 2 minutes from the Moulin Rouge) - so great base if you fancy a show. Breakfast (the same lady has been running it for at least 3 years) - as always, was excellent - lovely ham, cheeses, yoghurt, bread, fruit salad, pastries and an excellent coffee machine. The hotel has a small lift which is invaluable. Marius who mans the desk in the evenings is a fabulous guy and always happy and friendly. The rooms vary significantly in size and space and we always recommend getting two single beds - much more spacious. We will return.
This is typical budget hotel in Paris, but it's clean, hot showers is good although our bathroom doesn't have tub nor shower glass curtailment. Cleaners work the room every morning, they provide fresh towels and liquid shop/shampoo as needed. Watch out the bed's edges (wood) potentially hazard that could hurt you, it needs some cushion. The air conditioner is no good for people coming from cold countries (in my case Canada) Location is what got me, very close to the Metro and fine dining Resto. shops and groceries, its 15 minutes walk to the central train station (Gare du Nord) you can easily take a train ride from CDG's terminal 2, I did not like their breakfast meal, overall its value for money. Lastly, receptionists are courteous and helpful, Yasmin handed us map and recommend the best spots close to the area.
We found a deal including Eurostar tickets and B&B for two nights at this hotel for very little. Room was small but well-appointed with very comfy beds. We stayed on the ground floor. Staff went out of their way to be friendly, welcoming and helpful. They gave us directions to food very late at night, an extra towel, a map and directions the next day (and day after), ice for my sprained ankle (sustained about a mile away...nothing to do with the hotel), and a free luggage room the day we were leaving ... all with a smile and as if it was all to be expected and no hassle at all! They all had a sense of humour and were happy to laugh with us at our useless French and respond to us in perfect English (we're rubbish and we know it!). Breakfast was serve-yourself and simple but more than adequate and very nice. Room was absolutely spotless. There was a noisy air conditioning unit directly outside the window, but completely silent once the window was closed and there was air con in the room so we would have closed it anyway. I can't recommend this place enough: I've rarely met such friendly and helpful staff or had such an "easy" hotel experience (despite the ankle injury!)
Hotel was a little tried in places , had to change room within minutes of arriving. But it was all on the up after this . Room waa fine nothing spectacular, but what i expected. The young staff where very helpful, a little inexperienced but friendly. All in all a nice stay.
I booked this hotel more than 2 months before traveling to Paris, but I received an email on the day I was supposed to check in (just before I boarded my airplane from Japan) that I wouldn't be able to stay there. The reason that I booked this particular place was that I like the lively location with lots of restaurants and shops, having stayed around there before. However, they moved me to another hotel in their chain in a much quieter and less convenient area. Just be warned. A very disappointing experience.
The hotel isn't anything special and the rooms and restrooms are all pretty different in size, so it depends on your luck, what kind of room you get. The beds are nice and firm. Wi-Fi seems to work well in all places. The nicest thing about this hotel is the personnel. They make you feel like they really appreciate that you're staying in their hotel. The funniest thing about this hotel is the one and only elevator. If you really squeeze and don't have much luggage, you cat fit two persons in the elevator, and there are seven floors.
The Hotel is in a small side street but that does not take away from its charm and hospitality. My group had a happy time in the hotel especially the cake time in the afternoon. You will receive a warm welcome from the staff the only downside do not arrange your transfers via the hotel book them yourself.
Friendly staff but can't help you with anything. This place is so horrible we requested a refund but they denied it. Please don't be fooled by the photos. This hotel is old and in bad shape. The beds are hard, A/C doesn't work and the shower can't be regulated. If you're a little claustrophobic don't use the elevator since it only has space for a person and a small kid. Not what we expected for our anniversary.
