Our stay was troublesome from checkin to our early/abrupt departure. Communication with the host was non-existent using the VRBO app. We repeatedly reached out to the BelaVilla to get early check-in, but we never heard back. The voucher from Belvilla (host) that showed key pick up was at the same address as the apartment. Since we did not get confirmation for early check-in, we arrived at the apartment address around 16:00. After finding the Checkmyguest email in my junk folder, we realized that we needed to go to another location to pick up the keys for the apartment - 15 step, 2 location process. Our first night, we woke up to find contaminated foul smelling water that came up from the shower drain that spilled onto the bathroom, kitchen, and hallway floors. Naturally, we laid towels down and again tried to get in touch with the property management with no avail. We then called the VRBO assist line. We spoke to multiple people in VRBO. VRBO asked for proof of the damage. We sent a video and pictures of the debris that came up through the shower drain and the contaminated soaked towel on the bathroom, toilet and kitchen area. VRBO told us that the proof I sent was not enough-“there was no evidence of a flood” and I had to reach out to the host. No response from the host at 02:00. The apartment was unhealthy and uninhabitable; we needed to vacate. I asked for a refund from VRBO. VRBO refused because we did not provide sufficient proof of the incident
