Very outdated facilities, over 40 miles away from the city, wifi is on and off randomly. They gave me a room with a connecting door to an adjacent room without any lock and said it was ok. I had to request them to give me a different room.

We had a good time, we just need more activity on the property

second time staying here and I love it! wonderful pool and free kayaks! I would stay here again!

Most disappointing hotel experience we had in Panama. Everything in this hotel is "one off" from what they advertise. Hotel location: outside the city. Do not go there if you do not have a car. You will have to drive through a series of dilapidated buildings before you reach the hotel grounds. Room: nice size, clean and ok bed but AC had 2 positions, on full blast or off. Furnishing look very tired. Would be fine in a middle of the road hotel but not at all what is described. Food: Advertizes several restaurants, actually has only 1 restaurant with buffet style only, no a la carte menu. Breakfast is $15 per person, lunch $22 and dinner $22. This is your only choice. Food quality is ok but again not at all what is advertized. Room service: nice menu but we tried to order all 3 days we were there and the only item actually available was club sandwich, nothing else, not even dessert or soda! Grounds: beautiful location by the lake, great pool but it closes at 6pm! they have a pool bar but it also closes at 6pm. all 3 days we were there we took a swim in complete darkness, no outside or inside pool lights. Noise: this is our major complaint. Our room was located right above the club with music so loud that we could not sleep at all. After multiple complaints, we asked to get another room and were told that it would not be possible until the next day. If you go to this hotel, do not accept any rooms located on the second floor (room numbers 11...). Overall, very disappointing experience, staff service is uneven at best. There aren't many options in the Colon area so you may have to stay there. Be prepared! It is not outright terrible but NOT AT ALL what is described. We would not go there again.

The overall experience was not good. The hotel appears dated and somewhat run down. The restaurant buffet was not very good and expensive for what you get. There was no complimentary water the second day. There was no extra toilet paper in the room and the hotel lobby women's washroom had no toilet paper either. In this regard, the staff was not very helpful. This is definitely not a 4 star hotel.

It's a Old style hotel, with new addes, It's stile in renovations, The location it's far from everything, the good point it's transportation it's cheap.

Its like a haunted house, Needs attention, its outdated.

This hotel is a nice hotel but its located a little far from free zone

Nice location by the lake, a bit far from the city and no signs to show the way. Room floor was greasy, dark stains on bathtub. Ask for ice and told me to go to the lobby, of course there wasn't any machine there and they sent me to 1st floor and the machine was broken. Arrived late to my room and didn't have towels, called 6 times including 3 trips to the reception's desk and after 2 1/2 hours I got the towels, at 1am. Two towels that when unfolded were all stained and dirty. Staff refused to tell me their names or the manager's name.

Smelly and old facility that is out in the middle of nowhere!!!

The setting and pool are the best if you want to get away from it all. Outside of some local tourist attractions Colon is not a city you want to visit, very dangerous run down city. Hotel itself is okay, poor a/c barely keeps room cool with extremely dirty filters. Showers/bath area is moldy. Slippery tile flooring. Beds in executive rooms (king size) nice other beds poor. Breakfast buffet included is good; rest of food very high priced and not good cooking. Nothing is close to hotel. Rental car is a must.

I have stayed at the Melia several times and I will continue to return. I am comfortable there and It is located in a perfect location.

good resting hotel, employees are not good with travelers, need good remodelations and employees need energy to work,..

the hotel was beautiful...excursions were not to organized..the main problem was the trash everywhere...very sad..the hotel was clean..the beds not to comfortable..the food was pretty good..the kayaking was great

The Melia was a great place to stay in a city that has few good/safe hotels. There is quality for your money that includes a great buffet breakfast and many extras that other area hotel don't offer. You do need a rental to really see the area and avoid the high costs of hotel arranged tours. You can't beat the grounds or the lake location.

Awesome!!... besides being situated in a very nice location by the lake the most impresive was the service and attention to detail provided by the staff and the quality of the food while I was there. Breakfast is included therefore providing even a better value for the stay. Best hotel that I stayed while visiting that country. The only draw back is that the matress was pretty hard for my back.

I was very unhappy with the hotel. Although it has a wonderful location and beautiful grounds, it is terribly managed. Upon entering, the lobby smells like sewer gas. The front desk gave another hotel guest a key to my room, so I was surprised when a couple entered my room with their key! The front desk didn't offer so much as an apology but reformatted my key card. The hotel pool was one feature that attracted me when searching online, but when I asked for a towel, the attendant didn't have any. He said he would have some in fifteen minutes, but an hour later there were no towels and I left. The rooms are poorly insulated; I could hear loud noises from the bar directly beneath my room and voices from the room next to me. There were no kayaks or boat trips from the lake-side hotel while I was there. The bathroom ventilation was poor, as I could sometimes smell cigarette smoke from the drain in the bathroom floor and sometimes sewer gas. The bathroom exhaust fan merely made this worse. It took a long time to get anything, from the aforementioned towels to a cup of coffee at breakfast to change from the bar. I plan to write to Melia Hotels about my experience.[...]I cancelled the third night of my stay at Melia Panama Canal. The hotel checked me out. I[...] I hope I can get a refund for the third night and a refund for the room upgrade I selected at the time of purchase. I had upgraded to the "Lake View" when I purchased [...], but the hotel did not put me in the Lake View.

Most of my time at the hotel I spend relaxing at the pool or by the lake view. This has been the most relaxing and enjoyable hotel I have ever been to. I found the dinner prices to be on the expensive end and the food variety was very limited. I would change the mattress on the bed to be more soft and comfortable. I would really recommend this place for couples and families who need to spend quality, quiet and a delighted time together.! The staff was really pleasant and pleasing

Staff very friendly. Hotel was beautiful. Entertainment on the weekend.

The hotel is beautiful in that "old elegance" kind of way. The staff friendly. If you want just relaxation, this is the place. You need not leave the hotel; just stay by the pool, or walk and sit near the lake. Breakfast buffet was included, and that was scrumptous. You need a taxi or a car to get to and from the hotel; there is no public transportation that brings you near. I suggest you go out for dinner or lunch, as the menu is limited and the price high. Most of the employees speak English and those that didn't, found someone that did to communicate. Yes, I would go again!!
