Old world charm, convenient location, and amazing rooms. We stayed only one night but will be back and stay a week to explore the city and island.Every aspect of our stay was very good. Every aspect of our stay was comfortable and the gracious staff pointed us on what to do and where to eat in this charming city.
We stayed here for just one night en route to Mazara del vallo. The location is superb. The hotel is undergoing some renovation so it didn't look anything great but when we got in the hotel we could already see the charm of this small but very comfortable hotel. The rooms are spacious but the bathrooms are a little small. The beds were very comfortable and the wifi and aircon worked very well. Breakfast was downstairs and included in the price. An excellent selection of food including delicious fruit. We ordered lattes and cappuccinos at no extra cost. This hotel is really very good value for money and the staff were very helpful. Would highly recommend for a short stay in Palermo.
I chose this hotel specifically for its central location. The airport shuttle drops off and picks up right in front of the hotel which I loved because I didn't want to have to drag my luggage across the city. The hotel is undergoing reconstruction on the outside but it didn't affect the inside nor did I hear any noise. It's not fancy but it was clean and more than fulfilled my needs. Wifi was available and worked well. The breakfast was awesome! A wide variety of delicious food and drinks. The staff was helpful and accommodating. My flight wasn't till later in the evening and they were able to accommodate a late check out. Most must see sights (Teatro Massimo, Cattedrale Palermo) are in walking distance. There is a variety of food and shops close by. While it is in a central area I found it to be quiet and peaceful especially in comparison to hotels that may be directly next to popular tourist sites. I'd definitely stay here again.
The airport bus brings you from straight outside Palermo airport to Politeama Square where the hotel is situated. This only costs six euro and it also picks you up for return journey to the aiport every half an hour. I arrived two hours before check in time and was going to just leave my back there till check in time but they had a room available and were good enough to check me in early. The Hotel had scaffolding around it so was expecting the worst and loads of early morning hammering and drilling by builders in the early hours but this never materialised over the four days I was there. My room was a little dark but comfortable enough with TV , Fridge and room safe and quiet enough. Very centrally placed for walking around. A bit annoying when you ask about the Wi-Fi they give you a small receipt with a mixture of lower and upper case letters and numbers that was hard to see and took me ages to input in my phone before it timed out with user name and password. This usually only lasted a couple of days so had to get a couple of these during my stay. Overall a good hotel,
On the one hand, the hotel leaves a very bad first impression, as the decor is very dated, and very worn. On the other, it's in a very convenient location, the rooms are large, and the service is fairy decent. They _are_ currently renovating, and if that goes well I can see this being a great hotel.
The hotel is in mid-refurb and not looking its best. But the staff are efficient and courteous, and our room was large and well appointed. Yes, we had a fine view of the scaffolding, but we just drew the curtains. We chose the hotel solely because the airport shuttle bus leaves at 15 and 45 minutes past the hour from outside the Prada shop next door, but were pleased we'd chosen to stay there. Only possible negatives: you have to haul your luggage up three steps to get to the lift, and the breakfast room is down a long steep flight of steps - I don't know if the lift goes down there. But there is a disabled lift and the hotel provides room service for a 5-euro supplement. We were pleased with our choice.
I spent 3 days in this perfect hotel with my boyfriend and we enjoyed it so much! First thing I would like to single out is the location of the hotel - just in front of the Teatro Politeama, and close to the shopping street and main destinations. Then, the highly qualified personnel, they were extremely attentive and exceeded all our expectations! They also took care of the parcel I asked them to receive before my arrival, just great! Also I want to underline the fact that they were so sympathetic and let me even have the breakfast before the official time due to my early departure, I just have no words! As for the breakfast itself, it's simply amazing! There are plenty of sicilian specialities like different types of cheese, ham, cannoli Siciliani, fresh pastries, and even spumante! The room was very clean, thanks for little welcoming gifts, and special gratitude for having upgraded the room for us! Top hotel with top personnel! Absolutely to be back!!!
Okay, where do I start. We were greeted with a facade with covered scaffolding. This should have been advised well before we arrived. Our room was very dark, no maintenance had been carried out. As a previous reviewer mentioned there are only plastic cups, no mini bar and no tea & coffee facilities. There was mould in the shower. Front desk staff were helpful on checkout. Breakfast was certainly up to standard. I travel frequently and I would not give this hotel any higher than a 2.5 rating
I want to start by saying I am a frequent business traveller, who lives in a city and is more particular than the average traveler. The city itself is gritty which I hadn't expected, so the hotel falls right into that historical urban vibe. It's facade also under construction which I wish I had known. In general it's pretty dated, with an eclectic decor. The staff is the ONLY reason I didn't leave immediately. There is no curbside to check in. We had driven and it was an issue. Driving in the city is challenging but not impossible. However parking is. From the desk "Michael" who appeared to do just about everything at the hotel called a gentlemen who parked the car off site someone. I didn't want to think about where. It was a 10/15mins wait to get the car back. Check in was easy and pleasant. Front desk spoke perfect English and where great about confirming rooms met out requests. I couldn't go any further without noting...room 212 was terrible in that there was ZERO natural light as it faces a courtyard where construction scaffold completely blocks the window. While it looks as if the bathrooms were renovated in recent years, the toilet and shower are in different rooms and you can't actually even turn around in the shower. Nothing notable about the toiletries, but the soap had a fantastic scent. Lighting in the room in general became an issue as there was no natural light from the windows. There was small seating area just outside the bedroom of just a small table and two chairs where a small fruit tray was left upon arrival. It's hardwood floors so bring slippers they get slick when wet. Bed was comfortable enough. Bedding too thin, but fine since we kept the air low since we couldn't open the windows. There was breakfast each morning in a lower level dining room. Basically continental....lots of sweets, sliced meats, dry cereal, breads, cheeses, etc. I will say the most fantastic juice. We didn't see any other restaurant on site but honestly hadn't stuck around. Location: across from a theater with large piazza which was lovely to sit in the evening. Somewhat odd area. There was a Zara, Disney Store and McDonalds which was weird. I would highly recommend taking the streaty.com street food tour. It was a look at a more genuine side of Palermo which I so appreciated. Definitely look for a deal if you plan to stay here...it's fine for a couple nights and likely in line with other area properties.
Welcome renovation from the 70s, and great location in centre of town, good clean rooms, polite and helpful staff. Lots of eating places and sights within walking distance, although public transport nearby, including those hop on & hop off tours.
