this is a really lovely, historic hotel to stay at, which I do with pleasure everytime I can.

The property looks very nice on the outside. Classic building well located just in front of Ashmolean Museum and perfectly located close to broad street. Upon entering the lobby feels traditional. Scent is not very pleasant, it’s sort of a pine wood purchased scent but artificial...you begin to notice that the infrastructure is quite old but in a bad kept way. Staff in front desk and entrance are helpful and tea room is very nice in a traditional way. The terror begins upon your way to the rooms. Staff in housekeeping rarely sleek proper English, and the rooms resemble a cheap old hotel, with an old, unkept smell. It is very complicated to navigate and you get the feeling of wet carpet. The rooms are old, no technology, horrible bathroom, terrible movable shower head. I truly felt I was staying in a college dorm. No proper amenities. Spa is not very good, has no gym. I was truly disappointed. Would never stay again or recommend. For such price range, Malmaison or Old Bank are much nicer. Sad, but honest review.

Bar was very nice. Restaurant was lovely. Room was very small and lacked a dresser or room for clothing.

We had an enjoyable stay at the hotel. They did not tell us that it was going to be undergoing renovations on the outside. The front desk manager William Campion was outstanding! He was very thoughtful and kind.

Nice hotel, undergoing some renovations, but overall nice. Right downtown and minutes from everything.

Great location, beautiful hotel and excellent staff

An old hotel with lots of character but with many signs of wear and tear.

Classic hotel located right in the middle of town. The room was large with king bed and the dining room was gorgeous, right out of a stately home. The staff was professional and tried to please, but the hotel was very busy when we stayed. Highly recommended, though.

Lovely hotel. Could use some drawer space in the rooms for those with longer stays (I was there six nights), but aside from that a very nice experience. Breakfast is nicely done, rooms are clean and quiet.

Classy old world hotel, with recent upgrades, but still retaining its character.

We enjoyed the Macdonald Randolph for a week of work and pleasure. The location can't be beat, walking distance to the Old Fire Station Theatre, gallery and cafe. Don't miss the Cafe from Crisis for a good nosh that helps the community. Walk to any and all of central Oxford.

The overall hotel experience was good but I think I did see a mouse in the restaurant. Excellent staff and concierge service but overall upkeep of the hotel is not a five star.

It's a hotel not a museum. Management needs to train housekeeping to clean. I have stayed in 5 star places. This is not even close. Not clean. Needs extensive refurbishment. Black mold in bathroom. Dirty linen. Tea things cleaned by the maid in the sink, no sanitizing in a dishwasher. Furnished at a sparse minimum. Old and worn out furnishings. Cheap bathroom fittings. No dresser in the room. "Free WiFi" might last a whole minute before disengaging. Who devised this rating system? Pros: it is centrally located. We didn't get sick.

Staff was very friendly and accommodating. I've stayed at the MacDonald Randolph four times now and plan on returning in the future. While it is one of the priciest hotels in town, the ambiance, services and proximity to all things Oxford, makes it a fair value. If you have a car, but do not need it during your stay, I would recommend parking offsite. There is a parking lot near the ice skating rink (adjacent to the train station long-term lot) that charges £7-£8 per day, significantly less than the £20-£30 most hotels in the area charge.

We had a lovely stay at the Macdonald House. Grand old hotel. Beautiful entry way beautiful breakfast room - love the staircase, love the high ceilings. The bathroom was the best - just beautiful. The only problem we had was we had the room right over the front entrance so the lights on the front of the hotel reflected into our room. But the blackout curtains did a good job of blocking most of the light. We would stay there again in an instant if we go back to Oxford.

From arrival to departure, everything was perfect in this fine old hotel- the staff are wonderful and the location is excellent. I can't recommmend the Randolph highly enough.

Great location and staff was wonderful. Food was very good. Great place for a cocktail. The shortbread served with the Tea was to " die for".

Woken up by some loud noises each morning by chimes and a recorded voice. Worse shower I have ever had in England. Pressure one moment then slowly down to a dribble then the cycle would repeat. Simple small room. Nice location and friendly staff. Eventually left for another hotel in town for the remainder of my trip.

Very nice hotel in a great location. Wonderful restaurant. Nice room and terrific staff. Right across the street from Ashmoleum. Easy access to just about everything in Oxford.

Great hotel in a perfect location. Truly a 4-5 star hotel. Rooms are small but what else do you expect in a 200 year old building? Bathroom is small but brand new. You get what you pay for and you pay a lot here. If you like to pay for a top tier hotel and get the service and restaurants then this is for you. We liked it.
