Ayre Hotel Oviedo4.0 out of 5.0

Location is not bad, quick walk for restaurants and about 15 mins to historic centre, Nice staff. A/C - the panel in your room only works one way. We talked to the reception: the hotel is divided into two halves and they can set the temperature for each half only. So if you are too hot say 23 and they set it to 21 your panel and ac will get you to 21. if you are too hot at 23 and they set it to 23.5 (as someone else is too cold) your ac won't do anything. So it's a question of who calls down to reception. Great architecture?
We chose Oviedo as a central base to explore Asturias, and the Ayre hotel seemed a good choice being fairly up-market, close to the centre without being right in the middle and with good parking facilities and favourable reviews. On arrival the sat nav had brought us to the front of the hotel, while it turns out to get to the underground car park you really need to be behind it, but once we figured that out getting to and from the hotel was a breeze. Its location south of the centre means it's easy to get to the A-66 which is the main north-south road. The hotel is visually quite stunning, although looks quite out of place with the blocks of flats that surround it, but it does make it easy to find on your way back from dinner after a few glasses of vino or the local sidra! Reception staff were friendly and helpful - we arrived too early to check straight into our rooms, but were given a map of Oviedo and they held our luggage so we could go and explore for a few hours. It's about 15 minutes walk to the centre of Oviedo, and perhaps 20-25 to get to the old town. The walk into Oviedo is slightly downhill so the return journey is a bit more effort (especially after a big meal!) Once we got checked in the rooms were really nice - very roomy and spacious with exceptionally comfortable beds. The full width floor-to-ceiling windows make the rooms feel very light and welcoming, plus the electric shutter blinds help block out the light to make it easy to sleep at night. We visited end of April and the weather was slightly cooler than normal, so didn't have any trouble with room temperature, though I'd echo other comments that you can't control whether the air conditioning heats or cools the room - this is set by the hotel which seems a bit strange to me. Breakfast was nice, if not spectacular. The room is slightly sterile but again clean and bright, and the staff were on hand to keep everything tidy and stocked up. The first night we ate at the hotel restaurant which was very posh. We happened to be the only people dining at that time, so received very attentive service from the waiter who was very friendly and helpful. The food was really excellent and not badly priced - we paid just over €100 for three 2-course meals plus wine, water and bread. I paid to use the spa facilities one evening, which are also nice although for the price of the hotel it's a shame the spa isn't included - €12 for effectively 60 minutes of sauna, steam and jacuzzi is a little steep but I did enjoy it. I was disappointed though that the spa isn't open at all on Sundays, having wanted to use it the day before we left. Can't really think of much negative to say really, aside from the air con control and the spa charges/opening times. Would definitely go back again.
This hotel is beautiful and pretty close to brand new. The reception staff was friendly and the room had a complimentary bottle of water. The only sticking point is that it is a bit of a walk to get to the old town.
The architect has created every detail of this high-end hotel that you don't expect to see in Oviedo. Rooms are bright and modern. Heating of the room was a problem at the beginning. Breakfast area was also cold. Staff was very nice. We had no booking for a Saturday night at for dinner and decided to go to the bistro of the hotel; which was fully booked. The staff at the reception worked for more than 20 minutes to find us a lovely and local place to dine. Thanks to them. This was beautiful.
I had decided to travel to Oviedo as I bought shares in the local football team. I had heard from other foreign shareholders that this was an excellent hotel. This advice turned out be spot on. The outside of the hotel was a huge, beautiful structure that could be easily found. This elegance continued in the interior of the hotel, with spectacular lighting and other elements within the hotel. The room was spacious, with useful facilities. I personally liked the lighting behind the bed (see photos). The only things that I didn't like about the room was that there wasn't any drawers (although the cupboards had more than enough space) and that there wasn't a kettle. Below the hotel is the Modoo shopping centres with stores such as a Supermarket, Primark, the Real Oviedo Club Store and fast food restaurants such as Burger King. The rooms contained fridges so we often visited the supermarket to buy soft drinks, biscuits etc. I visited the bar once. The prices were mid-range but the service was excellent. We even met the manager who was a delight to talk to. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and I plan to visit again. If the Ayre Hotel Oviedo read this, thank you so much for a wonderful visit.
We were attracted to this hotel mainly due to the architecture and were not disappointed by that. The outside is impressive and the reception/bar area are well arranged and welcoming. The staff was friendly and helpful also, so this had everything to be an excellent hotel, but we stumbled upon a design issue with the all-glass windows that though providing a great view of the mountains which allowed us to wake up to a gorgeous sunrise over the mountains, quickly made the room impossibly hot during the day even in winter, something the AC cannot tackle conveniently because only the reception can select weather it's cooling or heating and we need cold during the day and heat at night.
Fantastic and elegant hotel with a nice decoration, really impressive. The room was big, the bathroom has a shower and a bathtub - really nice. From the room we had a great view to the mountains. We ordered a double bed, but got to single bed, that killed a little bit of the romance.
Enyoyed our stay in this hotel. Rooms are modern, clean and spacious. It is connected to a large shopping center, and Primark lovers will enjoy the convenience! It is approx. a 15 minute walk to the town center. A big plus- this hotel is located in a huge modern complex which is even seen on every map and so everyone can give you directions to help you get back to your hotel when you get lost.(As we usually do) The room was very quiet, lovely staff, internet was fine, no problems. Large bathroom with 2 showers, one in the bathtub. We took the breakfast one time, it was sufficient. The buffet was nothing special, so the next morning we took the continental which was a lot cheaper and was more than enough. If we ever return to Oviedo, we will definitely come back to this hotel.
Located inside an enormous modernist building designed by Calatrava, where the conference centre is. The staff were highly professional and helpful, the service was excellent. The breakfast buffet was well supplied and varied. The rooms are wide and quite minimalist, with few furniture. The bathrooms were quite ample with both shower and bath. An excellent option if you're staying in Oviedo for a conference.
This hotel is incredible. The outside is amazing. Try to see some photos to know what i mean. The rooms are like suspended in the wings of the hotel The room was fantastic. Wooden floor and walls. Spacious and luxurious. The bed great. The windows from wall to wall. One of the best hotels i have ever been. The 4 bottles of water in the fridge where a gift from the management...
