My wife and I had a great time staying at the Colonial Inn. The room was clean and comfortable and the staff was very friendly and attentive. And of the course the best part is the beach which only a few steps away!

Dirty hotel. In a state a disrepair. I don't think the room was cleaned at all. Closed the curtain in the bedroom and an old coke bottle rolled out from behind the TV. Food dirt in the kitchen area above the stove. Dishes unwashed and put away. Dead bugs in light fixtures Bathroom sink barely hanging on the wall. Kitchen sink water backwards (hot cold reversed) . I could go on..but why

The Hotel claims free wi-fi in all rooms. (except mine) The room was dirty and in need of a lot of repairs. The pictures of rooms on line show rooms with a full size refrigerator, stove and micro wave. (My room had a mini refrigerator and a small micro wave). When I went to the desk to complain about the lack of Wi-Fi I was told that I should be getting wi-fi (I never got Wi-Fi in this room) If and when I needed to use my computer I had to go to the office and sit in their chair. I was told that if I could find another hotel they would allow me to leave. I could not find another hotel. I was told that they did not have another room that I could use. The second day I was told that if I wanted they would move me to another room, however by this time I was only staying one more night, and the problem of moving my things would not be worth it. I was given a partial rebate on the cost of my stay, however what I really wanted was a room. Unfortunately I am unable to post the picture that I did take, due to size.

The room was small but it was clean. Was a bit dated but well kept. The parking lot was extremely small and left me in the very last open spot squeezed between two other cars. The staff was extremely friendly and the free coffee was delicious. My reservations online said free breakfast but that was not true. I would stay again. Fix the parking situation and I'll give five stars.

The staff were very friendly. Coffee available in the lobby. Standard room- refrig and microwave is small and turns off when switch by door is turned off. Needs better sign. Bathroom needs remodeling. Location great. For a quick and cheaper trip it is ok.

The parking is not only horrible there's not sufficient parking....I would prefer a hotel where you can get coffee & breakfast and a much nicer bathroom. The door to the bathroom stuck when closed and the closet smelled too bad to hang clothes in and the door didn't shut at all. This hotel is in desperate need of repairs.

Had a great experience! Checked in late the girl was very helpful and friendly, lots of great suggestions. We got a cute little room with ocean view. Was clean and nice. Thanks!

We usually camp, but season and weather did not permit for it this trip. Room was adequate. Beach access was great (as long as you can climb stairs). It took a long time - many minutes - for hot water to reach shower and sink, but once it did, it was adequate for 2 showers. 1 blanket provided for 2 beds, and it was a cold night (I won the blanket, son got the dog) Our dog was allowed for a fee of $25, which seems to be the norm for the area, but really too much extra in my opinion; $25 added to the room price made it overpriced for the off-season room and the few amenities offered. Still, most do not allow dogs at all so it is what it is. Overall, a good experience for a quick beach fix.

Check in time is 4::00 pm. Hotel next to the fishing dock and that was great. Rooms where small and not much modern comfort.

It was great! Right next to the pier and I had an ocean front room directly in front of the steps to the beach (#35). Pool was out for the season but the access to the close by YMCA was free with the room. So I was able to use the sauna, hot tub, and Olympic pool for half the price of a 5 star hotel. Staff was very helpful. I forgot a corkscrew for my wine and they were able to provide one to keep. Also, it is really in the middle of the outer banks not far to drive site seeing. Really enjoyed my stay first time at the OBX!

This is an old motel, probably 1950 or 60 vintage. It was adequate for a very busy weekend at the peak of tourist season. The rooms and bathroom are small.
