On the basis of reasonable reviews, we booked inherent for on night. It is an 8km drive into Ourense, on very busy roads. The hotel itself struggles to convince it is a four star place. The location is on the edge of an area of workshops/ light engineering. The grounds of the hotel are decent, and money has been spent on the lounge area. Reception was perfunctory, bordering on the couldn't care less. The room allocated was very small, with little space on either side of the bed. It was certainly overpriced. We reflected on the immediate area, the lack of warmth at reception, and the tiny room, and decided to leave within half an hour. The woman on reception made no attempt to improve the situation. I contacted Hotels.Com, who relayed my concerns to the hotel. They weren't interested in any even partial refund, so the hotel pocketed it all. To the credit of Hotels.Com, they were magnanimous and showed good customer service, by refunding me approx 50% of the cost of the night. I write this to make sure other travellers are sure they want to stay there, as the hotel really won't care whether you are happy, or not.
We used this as a stop over for the night. Despite the photos it is doesn't have much soul and feels more like a business hotel. The room is small for three beds but clean. The pool is large and clean and a great way to spend a couple of hours burning off some energy after the car journey. I thought there was a restaurant but it is a cafeteria. There are only a few tables which are close together with a blaring TV in the corner ( tip - download the app SURE and you can turn the volume down on any TV which comes in handy). We had a lovely waiter called Slayder who had to do the bar, the cafeteria and deliver room service. The poor guy was rushed off his feet and clearly doing his best and with a smile. Penny pinching on staff in peek season is annoying. The food was basic. It would seem that most dishes revolve around 3 slices of tomato. Admittedly the toms tasted delicious . My season greens were 5 pieces of bag lettuce thrown on the top. If you have low expectations and want a quick swim, some tomatoes and a comfy bed, you won't be disappointed.
Very nice hotel, the rooms are ok, the breakfast is good as well, the only problem that could be is the distance to the center, but if you're driving it doesnt really matter. The relation cost vs quality is awesome, totally would advise to go there!
After driving non stop from Lleida to Ourense , we had pre booked this hotel. Easy to find. Very well priced for a Dad with two kids. The reception was great. Super happy and friendly staff. We just manGed to get there in time for a 10 minute swim before the pool closed. The room was great and had all we needed. Although dated the bathroom was clean and tidy. Dinner was had in the cafe and was good comfort food from Galicia at excellent prices. The only thing I would say they could change is the pool hours. They could open it a lot earlier than 1200 and it could close later than 20:30 We would stay there again Thanks for a great stay
We were warmly welcomed and given comprehensive information. The hotel is rather dated and 15 mins out of town. That did not bother us, we chose it for the good size pool . Unfortunately the weather was cool and the pool was closed. The rooms and bed are fine. The walls are thin and every door slams shut noisily. Can be a problem if a tour group is using the hotel as when we stayed. Breakfast is very good. The only daytime food and drink is from vending machines. Evening food is poor and limited to what is in the packet or freezer. We tried to find a restaurant in Ourense without success. Bars yes, food no. There is plenty of good covered parking on site. We used the small gym as the outdoor pool was closed. It was just about adequate but the multi gym was broken which rather sums up our overall experience.
Very good facilities. The staff make a difference!! Parking is free into the hotel. The relation price/benefit is absolutely convenient. The hotel is very clean and the rooms are comfortable. Highly recommendable
The Hotel Auriense is a great place! They have an amazing pool in the garden, the room as well as the toilet were big, and the bed was huge and comfy. I requested them to put Spanish Omelette in the breakfast buffet and they did -one of the two days of our stay-!! Such a nice gesture! Also, because we booked the room at their website they invited us to a drink and a tapa. Plus, I asked for a chamomile tea during the night and they gave me one -for free-. We had read some very negative comments here, so we were a little suspicious. But our stay was very nice and the hotel fulfilled our expectations and more. Excellent!!
The Hotel is a bit far from Ourense town, which can be reached by bus if you didn't came by car. The rooms and service are good, but the restaurant and cafeteria aren't great. It gives some impression of decadence, like, for example, it has a nice balcony at the front which however doesn't seem to be mantained for a while and access is not allowed. They were also supposed to have a swimming pool but they didn't want to open it because it wasn't summer. (doesn't matter if we had temparatures close to 30 degrees celsius) The village is very quite, and there is a good restaurand (Casa Cid) not too far. Note that saying the village is quite doesn't mean you won't have noise at nights, it is common to hear dogs barking till late, for example. The wifi isn't great either.
Prices are correct and rooms are OK but, it's noisy. I'm writing this from the room right now and there is NO AC available in April. There is a switch but it doesn't work! The worst was that I had a meeting at 17 and the bar/restaurant was close, nobody to bring some drinks. Come on, is this really a 4 star hotel?
Although officially it is a 4 stars hotel, 3 would be the right thing. The actual price for the night it's fine for a 3 stars hotel. Single rooms are tiny but bathroom is fine. A little bit old fashioned. Soft springs mattress but great selection of pillows. WiFi works pretty well: not very fast but stable. The most annoying feature in the place are slamming doors. At busy hours (after dinner 21-23h or early morning 7-8h) you can hear room doors slamming all over the place.
