Classic Lodge resort great for hikers. Stayed in a lodge room, and the common review compliant of thin walls might be the only issue. The restaurant is quite good, especially with the lodge and fireplace atmosphere. The casual bar is also cool and has an outdoor patio with a view during better weather. The great hall is a cool place to hang out in and I thought it was neat to see a family bring their kids out in pajamas to read them a story in front of the big fireplace before bedtime. But the real attraction here is the hiking. I went during peak leaf season and a frosting of snow had fallen overnight, making an early morning hike quite magical. Especially since staying in the lodge or cabins makes it easy to be the first and only one out in the Park.

    Great historic lodge

Remember this is a lodge, not a motel so no mini frig or microwave. But bring yiur DVDs. For the extra $15 the hotel rooms are worth the added space.

The property is obviously older, so expecting the amenities if a new hotel seems a bit overboard. We stayed in the lodge side and it was great to be so close to the trails. The noises do seem to carry as you sit in your room, but not enough to keep you up at night. I was worried that the bathroom would be lacking, but the water was instantly hot and the shower was larger than expected.
