With Irma coming right through Fort Myers, we were lucky that this hotel had last minute availability for us. We checked in Saturday. There were 4 of us- my husband and I and two sons age 17 and 22 along with our little dog so I was SOOO pleased that it was a dog friendly hotel (even had bathroom area out back with trashcan and bags provided). We were provided with a king room which is all they had left. It still worked because there is a sofa bed on there!! It is a cute room that smelled clean and that had a comfy bed, a mini fridge and microwave, tv, dresser, desk, coffee maker and sofa bed. It has a wall AC unit that you can adjust yourself with my favorite feature- the constant fan option. The bathroom provides soap, shampoo, facial soap, condition and body lotion. They also have a make up remover towelettes. Advice: don't forget your q-tips, the mini-store downstairs doesn't have those :) This was a different hotel than I was used to; the hotels I stay at all offer free breakfast and a constant supply of coffee but I am not taking away points for that because you go into it knowing it doesn't. Saturday we just stayed in our room. Having came from a shelter on Friday we just wanted to enjoy the peace and quiet of being alone and having AC on Saturday. Sunday night we had dinner in their Bistro area sitting at the bar. We had great conversation with the bartender nick named Chili or Chilly. He makes a tasty margarita!! The BBQ flatbread and fries were good. They do offer a side of fries to buy even if not on their menu. Be patient with the bartenders- they not only are bartenders to serve you drinks, they're also cashiers to ring up your order, cooks to make the food, and wait staff to deliver the food! Then and every day the manager was seen walking around checking everything. Sunday night into Monday the hurricane came at a smaller pace into our neck of the woods. With our constant fan on the AC it just sounded like a basic thunderstorm. I slept through it! And most importantly....we had power throughout!! Monday we did come to find that the bistro ceiling was leaking so that was closed, hallways had no power and the wifi and cable tv was out...but rooms had power so we had electricity and AC! We were prepared for a hurricane so we had food in our room to eat and water to drink. Then the hotel very nicely served a free buffet breakfast which is something that they don't normally do! I thought that was a very nice gesture. They also gave free coffee too! The manager once again was seem making sure all was OK the whole time. Chili was around every day too! The whole staff kept their cool through ridiculous complaints about no wifi-no tv- the bistro is closed...we just had a hurricane! You're very lucky your room has power! The hotel across the street didn't! Even the customers that were checking in, despite being told about the minor issues that went out, still came down to complain. REALLY?? I had a safe place, lights by which to read or play games, and AC to cool me down. If I'm back in the area again, despite needing to spend more money on coffee and breakfast that I could get free elsewhere, I would choose this hotel again just due to the staff! Can't say enough good things about the Courtyard Orlando Lake Mary. We were there under stressful circumstances - Hurricane Irma -but you would never guess from the calmness and helpfulness of all the staff. There was plenty of food and service in all areas was excellent -- nothing suffered. You will not be disappointed here. We thank you for a most enjoyable stay and will definitely be back!
My family took shelter from Tampa during Hurricane Irma at the Courtyard Orlando Lake Mary/North. Not only did we feel safe during the entire storm, the staff went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. First I would like to start at the top....Adriana Londono was TOP NOTCH! She made us feel welcome and safe as this was our first hurricane. She ensured our family would be okay and there was nothing to worry about. Boy was she right! I slept through the entire hurricane! I would see Adriana all over the hotel checking on all the guests. Second I would like to compliment the front desk staff! WOW!!! they were GREAT! They were quick to give extra towels and blankets. Told us of local food establishments that were delivering and were always there to answer any questions we had. Third....the Bistro staff, I have no idea how they kept up the energy to prepare so much food-to-order for all the guests! I do have to say the pizza and breakfast sandwiches were by far my favorite and the fact that they served Starbucks coffee was a HUGE bonus. Fourth...the housekeeping staff, all the ladies were PHENOMENAL!!! Every time I would pass one of them, didn't matter which floor, they were always smiling and asking me if I needed anything. I was VERY impressed with everyone during this stressful time. I will definitely return with my family just because of how welcome we felt. Great staff..very welcoming and friendly. Rooms are very nice and clean. Helped me forget for a moment that we were running from such a huge storm. Last minute accommodations were a blessing. Thank you to all.
I have spent over 75 nights Marriott this year and 125 nights last year so I really like Marriots a lot. Unfortunately you have some places that are poorly managed ant this one is one of them. This will be the place you don't want to stay if you care about services. Starting in the morning you'll find out that an over crowded McDonald's is faster than the only (and very slow) employee taking orders, preparing the food, and attending the register. The you find out that the maintenance of the hotel is poor too, elevator damaged, computer in the lobby out of order, etc. When you come back a night after a long day at work you'll find an the front desk is a ghost town and one high unmotivated employee at the bar. I stayed at this hotel before and complained about the services and they say they will take care of it, I have been staying at other Marriott in the Orlando area and I book this one again by mistake and nothing have changed instead of 5 nights I will check out tomorrow after two disappointing days and I will stay at another Marriott. I hope this will save you a lot of aggravation.
My husband and I stayed here for a wedding we were in and it was horrific. The hotel was chosen specifically for the fact they are dog friendly. We paid the $75 pet fee, which is quite high for the industry standard, and were on our way. When I returned to the hotel after the rehearsal dinner around 11pm, I was ambushed by the front desk staff stating they were asking us to leave the hotel because our dog was barking and they were receiving complaints. I was never called, just yelled at in front of everyone in the lobby. Our dog is 10 years old and doesn't ever make a peep. Additionally, the bride's aunt and uncle were in the room directly next door to us and said they never heard anything. I requested management and was informed management is not typically on staff at the hotel. The front desk staff smirked at us the entire time they were explaining the situation, and told my husband and I we were at risk of being escorted off the premise by security and that we would NOT be refunded despite not staying at the hotel. At one point I said, "Do you understand the position you're putting us in? We have to be at the wedding venue at 9 am and we have no where to go," and young man at the front desk said "I'll sleep just fine tonight." We ended up moving to a hotel across the street who was happy to accommodate us and had zero complaints and zero issues with us or our dog. Like I said above, if you have a pet do not stay here. They are NOT pet friendly as they claim. Well, really they just aren't friendly in any way to be honest. You'll have to pay a steep non-refundable pet fee on top of the room rate and then will be kicked out and they'll keep your money- it's a bait and switch, really. We were embarrassed by the front desk staff, but really they are the ones who should be embarrassed. Skip this one and stay at one of the options across the street.
We had a two room suite on the 3rd floor with a balcony overlooking a large pond and a highway off ramp in the distance. There was a microwave oven, refrigerator and sink in the suite as a well as a separate bedroom with a TV. The shower and toilet are also separate from a bathroom vanity/sink and closet with ironing board. There was Alonso a small non-lighted make-up mirror. There was a larger TV and a pull out sleeper sofa in the main room. The staff is warm and welcoming and they have a Starbucks in-house as well as limited breakfast items. There is a fenced pool area and a pet walking area out back overlooking the pond. We observed Sandhill Cranes together with a newly hatched chick foraging next to the pond. Overall it was a nice quiet place to stay and get some computer work done.
The hotel was very clean and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. We felt comfortable and welcome. It would be great to see more than 2 double beds in a room as for a family this isn't big enough. We did have an air mattress with us and it fit in the room with still room to be comfortable. The pool area was nice and the breakfast was very good as well. Thanks for providing a very nice place for our vacation.
Teenagers beside us stayed up until 1 am, so not a satisfying stay. We called the front desk at midnight, but she was probably not a strong enough personality nor had enough authority to really get them to stop. They continued to transfer between rooms and talked loudly until 1am. Our room was decently clean, bathroom was slightly outdated, staff accommodating, continental breakfast for our group was fresh with Starbucks coffee. We will probably not stay here again and book with another hotel with suite rooms.
Great night at bistro , I love my bistro burger thank you juan "0) nice location and very clean hotel ! Planning to staying here again with friends and family . the hotel has other restaurants around, sport bars , near to daytona beach and 30 minutes from the orlando parks .
