My husband and I made an overnight trip to the horse track and casino. The king room was a good size and clean. Block out curtains so no bright lights from the casino signs. Awesome jacuzzi!!! Hotel was quiet at night so easy to sleep. Would stay here again!
While in town for a graduation, I stayed at the hotel. The staff was awesome and very polite and helpful. The first room had a problem with the air condition not working. I was moved and upgraded to another room which was very nice. My stay was good. I would recommend this hotel even though the price was a little high.
We came to go the casino. Just wanted a place to rest after eating in the area. The front desk gentleman was nice. The hotel room was large and the bathroom was a nice size. There was a fridge, microwave and sink area. The bed was comfortable. There are two tvs, but no divider in the room. I turned the second one off because it didn't make sense to have two on next to each other. In the bathroom, there was a dirty towel hanging there when we arrived. A roach crawled across the floor as I went to take a shower. You could hear people talking in the hallways because the walls are super thin. The water pressure is horrible. The shower and morning routine were made difficult by the light stream of water. To make it worse, the sink water only ran cold. There was trash behind the chair in the corner. No one tried to clean that. The drawers on one of the dressers kept opening. The end of the dresser had a broken leg. The casino was not paying at all, but I did feel safe in the room. It wasn't crowded at the hotel. It is connected to the casino by a hallway. I'm only giving it a two because it was large enough for six and the front desk man was Louisiana friendly!
Evangeline Downs is a decent hotel but don't go in with high expectations. It's cheap, relatively clean, and the staff was friendly. Skip the breakfast though. The "fresh" fruit was all well past ripe and the pancakes were rubbery and cold.
The Evangeline Hotel is a nice and clean place to stay, but not very quiet. I was given a room on the track side (no races were going on) which had a nice view of the track. However the loud sounds from the bands playing will keep you up, but you are staying at a Casino! The staff were very helpful about everything and again I will say it was clean. On the Saturday night we were there a young crowd of people ranging from 15-25 flooded the hotel. It was a little nerve racking at first, but I'm assuming someone told them to quiet down because we didn't here them up very late. I would not hesitate to stay there again.
It has taken me many months debating about if I should write this. Came to the conclusion that I would not want anyone to live what we had to. Checking was easy, go to the room We start unpacking and one of us decided to go to the bathroom , only to find a toilet and outside of it full of feces! We got another room, but the feeling of nastiness was there all the time after that. They just said oh... sorry That says all of the rest of our experience there. The breakfast was mediocre, the people working there where unpleasant, cold, unfriendly. The staff in general does not care, nor it's GM if he or she ever shows up! No formal apology was given. Oh well we where just another one come and go...
We arrived eagerly at 11:00. The girl at the desk found my reservation but could not give us a room on the first floor. We were two ladies and asked for a room close to the casino door. She said they were cleaning the rooms and when one was available she would keep it for us. We walked down the first floor and we saw cleaning carts by several rooms. She said that they should be ready at three and showed us a stack of checkout papers she had to go through! That had nothing to do with us! So we went to the casino and came back to the hotel at three. She said no rooms wer,e available on the first floor. We had brought in our luggage because we had seen some first floor rooms being cleaned at 11:00. Then a young man came to the desk and asked for my phone number to call me when a room would be cleaned! So back to the casino and waiting for a call. At 5:30 no call. By this time we were tired and ready to go to a room! So once again we go to the front desk. We asked what was going on. He said he had one clean room on the fourth floor. We asked about a first floor room and he said there was none available and showed us the stack of checkout papers he had to go through (which had nothing to do with us! I told him we were leaving and to credit my card! He said it was never put in because we never checked in! We were tired and road weary but drove home. I had made these reservations the week before, but I will never stay there again. What a terrible way to run a hotel! This was a bad experience that we will never forget!
From start to finish we had a great experience with all staff members. Comfy bed, great food and WE won at the casino~ It was a great last minute get away for the weekend to celebrate birthdays with friends.
My family has stayed at Evangeline Downs Hotel since it opened. The rooms are well furnished and clean, the beds are comfy, and for business travelers in the Lafayette area, it's the perfect place to come home to -- away from the city with great restaurants in the area and a wonderfully attentive and friendly staff who feel like family and are always eager to help. This stay was during a trip for both pleasure to celebrate a family birthday and for business. Ronette, Keith, Michelle, and Miranda took great care to ensure we enjoyed my folks' stay and play while taking care of my business needs. Ronette, congratulations on a job well done! Please thank our wonderful breakfast host (whose name I don't know) who was so pleasant and made sure the fresh fruit included kiwis. We'll be back!
The buffet is excellent. Get the fried fish. Rooms are spacious and clean. Property is well maintained. If working in Lafayette is worth the drive to stay here. Very safe. Plenty of parking. Working man will be treated like a king here.
