The Governor, a Coast Hotel

In the park across the street from the front door. Air conditioning leaves a lot to be desired... not updated since 1974. But they offer fans. Balcony is so small its hard to stand on. Food is expensive.. no kids menu but portions are large. Our commute and parking was terrible as we had no idea there was a fair and parade going on. Almost missed my sons wedding. The beds are comfortable and staff is nice. However we would never stay there again. Lucky none of us got stuck in the possessed elevator.

Two things I found troublesome: 1. Insulation btwn rooms was not optimum - could hear low noises and doors from hallway. 2. Restaurant closed an hour early on Sunday and no room service was available- this time shift was not listed on the in room room service menu/information sheet- What I loved: 1. view 2. Comfortable bed 3. Staff- friendly

Hotel was nice but needs updating. Rooms look tired. But for the price, was ok

The bathroom was in rough shape. Paint peeling, shower/bath switch didn't work well, bath didn't drain so well. I saw a few tiny ants in the room.

Nice place.clean.great food .close to everything and had a great time

Great place. Ignore all reviews that point out wear and tear. It's an old hotel, nothing to worry about unless you're a fussy person. Highly recommend

Clean, updated rooms, nice staff, decent breakfast buffet (more standard than exceptional).

Great location next to downtown Olympia restaurants and businesses, with friendly staff. Hotel is old school and no-frills; lower-level lounge has promise but does not appear to be ready yet.

With the exception of the elevator being broken for a full day... And being on the 8th floor... I had a good stay. The hotel is a bit dated but comfortable and has friendly staff

My friends and I stayed in this hotel for 4 nights and we enjoyed the environment and access to the city.

We spent a FrIday night on our drive up to Canada. We wanted to stay next to the capitol but did not want to pay the high rates. This hotel is dated and tired. However, IF you can overlook the tired and dated aspects then continue reading. We found this hotel to be very clean, convenient, quiet and overall good value for the price we got it at. We had a pleasant stay. Our king bed was very comfortable. We could see the capitol building and lake from our room. Unlike another reviewer's experience, we did not have any problem with the hot/cold water. The wifi and tv worked well. We do not like blasting the heater so we asked the front desk for an extra blanket which was brought to us in reasonable time. Breakfast had a good selection. Parking is on premises. It is downtown so you have a good selection of restaurants to walk to that are open late. You have to be alert when walking late at night. In the morning, you can join lots of early locals walking around the lake which is a nice way to start your day. The front desk was very helpful, too.

Hotel room was adequate and the bed was comfortable. Staff was nice/friendly and pointed us toward a good restaurant. The shower, however, was the worst of my life (third world country included). The shower went from freezing cold to burn-level hot on 20 second cycle. I was unable to stand under the shower at all, and it took about 3 times as long to get clean this way.

The room was clean, and accommodating. The staff was welcoming and friendly. I would definitely reccomment this hotel to anyone needing a room in Olympia, WA.

Room was unbearably hot. West side room can't be cooled by ac and swamp cooler. Requested refund and went to newer hotel. Staff was very accommodating.

I stayed for just a night and slept well in the comfy bed to attend the Franklin Graham event at the Capitol. The breakfast was plentiful and filling. The hotel has easy access off the freeway. I probably would not walk the neighborhood alone after dark but enjoyed the area during the day.

Comfortable, clean rooms. Friendly, efficient staff. Great location. Excellent stay.

It was our last night in Washington State and Olympia was a convenient stop after driving around the peninsula and enjoying the national park. The next morning we headed off to SeaTac airport. The room was much more reasonably priced than Seattle hotels and I believe the ride to the airport had a lot less traffic.

Very convenient location. No no no no no more! This not necessary.

Lipstick and high heels put on a used up hotel. not horrible, but not that great.

About half the year, the Governor is a classic hotel with its old-school elegance dimmed by multiple owners trying to morph it into the hot new trendy thing. It is obvious that where today there is a breakfast buffet, there once was a solid coffee shop/diner - which would have been far more convenient to do business off the Capitol campus. Speaking of which, the Governors' location a few short blocks from the Capitol Campus (and with a shuttle right near by) makes it an ideal place to stay during the Legislative Session or if you have the misfortune of needing to deal extensively with the various Washington agencies that have their offices scattered about the Olympia area. Solid hotel experience, nothing over-the-top wonderful, but clean and well-organized with a friendly and helpful staff. Haven't used them, but some fair sized banquet/conference rooms in back.

We apologize for the bathroom and ant issues. They have both been addressed by our maintenance and pest control.
