Hotel RL Olympia by Red Lion

3.0 out of 5.0

Recent guest reviews

This hotel is located on beautiful grounds with fantastic views, yet the musty, smelly, dirty old carpet on the dimly lit hallway leading to the bedrooms, in addition to the poorest customer service found on the Pacific Northwest and poor kitchen offerings make for one sad experience. Stay away

Clean and for the first time staying at rl. No coffee in room. Front desk ? One employee who was a little slow with a hand held lap top.

Very friendly staff, rooms were clean with comfortable beds. Undergoing renovations, but it didn't bother us. We would stay here again!

I wish I could review the other guests--extremely noisy and inconsiderate. This wasn't the hotel's fault but the walls seemed very thin. I could hear every word of loud guests at midnight, 1 am and then 2 am. This was unfortunate as the facility otherwise was very nice.

Gorgeous grounds, very nice staff, nice rooms. If doing goverment business, perfectly located.

Nice hotel. Great dinner and drinks menu. Staff was friendly.

Nestled among the state and county offices of Courthouse Hill in Olympia is the Red Lion. While seemingly out of the way, this spot offers gorgeous views of Capital Lake and puts you just a few minutes from either downtown or the West Side. While some of the hotel's design choices are odd (there's no actual front desk, just an espresso bar and some self-service kiosks), the overall atmosphere is reasonably homey and pleasant. The rooms are pretty basic, with the pergo flooring giving them an austere feel, but mine featured a hideaway bed, refrigerator, a reasonable desk, enormous television, and complimentary bath supplies. Coffee cups were provided, but the actual coffee (again, complimentary) is near the restaurant, or guests are allowed to order one free espresso drink from the lobby bar. While I might have preferred to stay downtown for easy walking access to shops and restaurants, the five-minute drive was fine. Additionally, the staff were all friendly, the restaurant was acceptable (especially with aforementioned view of the lake), and my stay was quiet and comfortable, so I would be happy to return.

New look is a bit on the messy side - temp tables for check-in looked like it was an after thought - inconsistent message and "can't fix" attitude from staff.

Room was a little spartan and basic. I have stayed at this hotel over the last 30+ years under different brands. Location is great. Free parking, but no free breakfast.

Super Helpful Staff, Very clean, very comfortable, One of our kids got lost for a few minutes, and the GM was available and helpful -- supervised the search, every time we needed something, there was prompt and happy service

Breakfast that comes with room is great. Staff helpful. Shower goodies nice quality. But no tea coffee in room. Bed creaky. And walls pretty thin. Would recommend earplugs.

This hotel seemed like it would be perfect from the reviews. The lobby was nice and the staff friendly, but the moment I walked in my room the smell of cigarette smoke and must was overpowering. The AC was old and barely worked and the caulk in the shower was black with mildew. Needless to say, I was very disappointed in my stay here and will not be back.

The hotel is being remodeled, and they had construction going on as early as 8 in the morning. I woke up with a guy using a nail gun. Also, the staff or is in a accessibility room when none of my family members is disabled. Everything was super low in the room, including the shower, which made for a very awkward experience in showering . Also, the check in took a very long time despite there not being anyone else besides me being checked in. The staff was never rude. They were all polite, but definitely did not pay attention to details.

Loud. Not a good experience. Wished we would have paid $30 and and found a nicer place. My wife was disappointed with the condition of this Redlion

Convenient location for my meeting, will come back to this hotel again next time.

all was excellent. ordering on line was perfect, check in was perfect. Love extra hot water, love the furnace. good food and free parking right up to the door is great. Overall, excellent experience.

The hotel staff was nice and the hotel room was comfortable. Having the complimentary breakfast on site was nice. Unfortunately we were interrupted by noises outside, plus dog barking inside the hotel. This was disappointing.

This is where we stay when in Olympia. The setting is gorgeous and peaceful, with views of the water from the dining room. The air is scented by the evergreen trees the hotel is set among. Good value in all ways in our opinion.

The hotel had really nice staff, great food in the restaurant and very nice views from one side of the hotel. Our room was clean and comfortable. The only problem was the horrible odor in the hallway. Not sure why. Just happy it wasn't in our room.

This hotel is difficult to find, but once you do, it is comfortable and convenient. Close by parking. In the center of town.
