I had a tasteless stay at this Resort private Apt. We booked a an ocean view suite for 3 people beginning on a Monday to Thursday, and when we got to the property we were given a bedroom with a loft facing the mountain range Apt A 21. The attendant for the apartment was willing to help us, she told us that she wasnt even aware that guest was coming that afternoon. However she contacted the local agent and we waited in vain, my elderly Mom was very upset, so I call Travelocity and lodge a complaint,They in return contact the locals, and a rep finally showed up and assured us that she would move us to a different room but not a ocean viev, as all the ocean view was occupied, but the followng day after one guest checked out we would be relocated to that suite and we would be compensated by us getting breakfast and dinner. We moved in late that evening, and had a terrible night, we were bitten up by bugs, little croker lizard was on the kitchen counter and bugs crawling all over. Next day we waited in vain, finally we went out to do a tour, on my return I went to their office and say Miss Llewelyn and ask her whats the Status of our Apt, she said it would be ready any minute to move in and that she was still waiting for the Boss ( owner of Apt) to send some money to get our breakfast and Dinner. We Finally got a ocean view Apt 17 Tuesday night, then on Wednesday morning there was no hot water. Our experience was very bad, I would not go back there, it wasn't a five star hotel, and not too cheap either, but things could have been better, so I have to let all these search engines like Travelocity , Expedia, Hotwire know to get some facts right before selling packages to people to travel to these so call Resort.
Stayed almost a month positives: - housekeeping staff very friendly - happy to help. one young girl in particular. - lovely rooms/spacious/ideal location regarding the beach & just outside of the downtown a walk away. -property well maintained always clean. areas to improve: -Girls on reception are a bit off at times, feels uncomfortable. -Not getting the deposit back upon checkout (still waiting on it) which isn't cheap. -Laundry isn't included and works out quite $$ if your stay is long and against company policy to hang personal items out on your balcony. - Internet superslow
The owner of this apartment is lovely! We have had good communication with each other and he’s honest and trust worthy which was a nice surprise as you can never be too sure with online stuff. The owner has a lovely little apartment in Ocho rios on the main strip. The apartment is located within a staffed and gated complex so no one unauthorised persons are getting in! There was WiFi in the reception area although very slow but the WiFi in the apartment is strong and very very good! There was good working air conditioning in the living areas and bedroom and the bathroom is lovely and newly refurbished. The owner has a lady who greats you on arrival to hand you your keys and explain the workings of the apartment such as tv, air con etc and she will arrange with you when you want her to come and clean and change bedding and towels. The only downside to the apartment was the kitchen as it’s very dated however the owner has immediate plans to modernise this so by the time you book it will be bright and modern for you. I highly recommended this self catering property to others and I would stay here again. If your looking for somewhere that is value for money and don’t want the high costs of hotels etc then you’ll be happy with this accommodation.
During the first few days we had honestly enjoyed our stay. However on one of our last nights there, we had been enjoying a meal outside where they have seating. My aunt had mistakenly left her wallet on one of the tables, when she realized she went back down to find that it, which was filled with her money, ID, safe key and other belongings she needed, had been taken. She was very upset and when asked to see the cameras, the cameras did not show that particular table. However they could see where some workers including the security went back and forth around the table and kept sneaking off towards the garbage area, one even suspiciously going in the opposite direction completely. The hotel agreed the actions were suspicious but gave a petty “we will try and investigate.” You can tell the security staff and management are not interested and go through a pretend report and investigation. The next day she was given back her ID but obviously no cash was given back. If you are staying here please be aware of your surroundings and watch because even the staff cannot be trusted. I was very upset and turned off with the treatment in my home country.
-I booked this hotel through hotels.com and less than 24 hours before my check in they cancelled my reservation -I didn't realize they had cancelled until I tried to check in and the agent (who was very nice) said he had no reservation for me -I was then left stranded in Ocho Rios on Easter weekend when there was pretty much NO HOTELS available -When I called hotels.com to notify them and ensure I was refunded, they told me the hotel said they accommodated me at another hotel - THIS WAS A LIE AND A SCAM (hotels.com did refund me and gave me credit for my troubles) Some other people did book through AirBnB and were not put out like us, IF you book this I recommend using them. HOWEVER, the property is run down, dirty, old, my husband was offered drugs while waiting at the pool and they have loud parties on the beach where you probably won't be able to sleep due to the loud music.
I love Sandcastles! But that being said a lot of these are privately owned so do your research! I would book through bookings.com or Airbnb so you can see pictures and reviews of particular units. I probably would not book through the hotel itself because the rooms won’t be as updated. I’ve always stayed in updated modern units that have everything you need (wireless, a/c) and are very clean and well maintained. Great location. Free entry to the beach directly in front. Close to excursions, nightlife and shopping. Restaurant and bar on property also. I go as a single female traveler and I feel very safe there as they have full time security. I use ssj tours @ssj_tours for my transportation and any excursion I might go on.
I book, with three weeks in advance, a front beach flat with two rooms. I was given two studios in two separate buildings, overlooking the pool. The idea of having a two bedroom flat was because I was traveling with two teenagers. After complaining, they "found" two close to each other. B-21 was run down, smelly, without electricity in the socket were the microwave and toaster were plugged. The fridge door did not close. A total disaster!
STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS! Management: 0/5 Cleanliness: 0/5 Property: 1/5 Hospitality: 0/5 DO NOT GO HERE EVER! IF I COULD GIVE THIS PLACE A ZERO I WOULD. First some context: I’ve traveled a lot, and generally have low expectations, and am totally cool with no frills, or laid back experiences. We don’t typically need to stay at some all inclusive walled garden, so don’t take this review as entitled or out of touch, this is simply a warning. Okay so what happened: We arrived here in the early evening after 12hrs of travel, and were naturally tired and ready to get some rest in our room. We had booked the reservation weeks in advance. We get there and wait for 20 minutes while the front desk person helps 3 different irate guests. One had just arrived and had a room that was never cleaned and was extremely dirty. Another just wanted towels, to which they wouldn’t give her. And the third had some stained sheets and they wouldn’t change them out. After we finally were helped, the management was unable to locate our booking. It didn’t matter that we could show him a print out of our reservation, confirmation, etc. After about 40 min (while also helping other guests and making us wait), he finally determined it must be the “other management company”. We then call them 3 times, and finally after another hour they come (we’ve now been in the lobby for 2hrs). The guy starts to finally take us to our room, and on the way there he gets a call from his company telling him that the room is double booked and in fact they cannot accommodate us. At this point exceedingly frustrated and tired we are willing to have any room (even if we have to pay double) but of course they are all sold out. Apparently there are multiple management companies for different rooms and none of them communicate. After all that waiting they simply turned us always despite a paid for reservation long in advance. Ultimately we were forced to find another place in the middle of the night on an overbooked weekend. We ended up staying at some super sketchy roach hotel in the middle of the town with noise blaring until 3am. No sleep, might have been better to sleep in our car on the side of the road. Very sad that this was our first experience in Jamaica. It’s truly terrible, leaving someone without a place to stay in the middle night, because your management failures is simply wrong. Beyond all that, from what we saw the place was really really dirty and rundown, but quite honestly, at that point I would have just settled for a roof over our heads. Highly unethical, do not reward these people with any money.
