Hotel had professional kind staff. Can not find one bad thing to say about such great staff. The restaurant/bar was completely different story. Staff making mistakes on order 3 different staff 2 different days. Bartenders cussing in front of me angry with something. I would gladly stay in hotel again just find somewhere else to eat.

First let me say if you need customer service you better call Ashley she was the only person on site who had any professionalism and grasp the concepts of customer service. Requested 2 rooms next to each other so my sisters and I could enjoy ourselves for the weekend..guess what got two room with connecting doors but they did not connected to one another. Ordered a non-smoking room smelled of smoke called front desk was HUNG UP on. Sent up a maintenance person who told us "he did not care who we called we could call President Obama". Admitted that the smoke was coming in from next door should have warned people as my sister has asthma. Was told no-vacancy in any of the other properties...fridge not working called maintenance and guess what he did not have any fridges on site but he could take the one from another room who did not check in. My guess here is maybe customer services is only for certain people. The room faced an alley not the ocean. Called Orbitz to complain hotel now telling another story that they offered us other rooms..SMH that you are bad enough to say it but when called to the carpet you lie? I travel a great deal and have NEVER been treated this poorly. These were not cheap rooms but the service sure made it feel like it.

My husband and I woke up on the morning of our 10th wedding anniversary and decided it would be fun to go back to where we honeymooned, so we hopped online and booked a room, packed our bags and headed down to OC for a spontaneous last minute vacation. Admittedly we only chose the Howard Johnson Plaza Oceanfront because it was in our budget and on the boardwalk, so our expectations were pretty low. But when we arrived and walked through the doors we were blown away by the friendliness of the staff and cleanliness of the building. Every employee we encountered during our stay from the front desk to the cleaning staff was absolutely lovely to talk with, and despite being right on the beach there was never so much as a spot of sand on the floors. Our room was comfortable, and exceeded our expectations as it was listed as "no view" yet we could see both the beach and the bay and had the most breathtaking sunset views. If I had one complaint it would be the construction site two lots over, but the work only occured while we were out midday so it wasn't disruptive and it was only an eyesore if we decided to stare at it ;) We have only stayed on the boardwalk once with our kids, but we paid twice as much for a smelly room, grumpy employees, and sand on every surface. Since that experience we would always stay north and off the boardwalk. But going forward the HJ Plaza Oceanfront will definitely be our #1 choice for our OC family vacations (and occasional anniversary getaway!)

Great deal for this time of the year! Great view of the ocean.

Very nice hotel, staff was very helpful. Missing light bulb in bathroom which was replaced promptly upon calling desk. Excellent location!

Realizing this is the off season at Ocean City ,Maryland, so many places were closed. The Hotel has a great location and we have stayed here before. The room was comfortable despite the fact that the blanket smelled so bad we had to remove them from the beds! The carpet was dirty beyond belief, corners and around the edges there was visible built up dirt. We didn't complain while there. Why? I don't believe in this day and time you can go anywhere at anytime of the year to a high traffic traveling city where you will not run into Rif Raf people drinking in there room, banging on walls etc. We had originally ask for a low level room since my wife is handicapped and uses a mobile wheel chair. We were told we would get the 2nd floor, learned when we arrived we would be on the 3rd floor. A big, big disappointment! The restaurant at the hotel was opened and that's the best we can report there, slow service, broken English speaking wait staff. I cant say we will return to this location in the future.

I was impressed by ALL the service members at the hotel. They were curtious and frendly as well as quick and eager to please all our requests . yea, I think i would stay at this hotel again.

Came for weekend of July 31, room was clean and better than what I expected. We had a perfect view of the beach right on the board walk. Had an Italian restaurant attached to hotel. And had 15 discount. People were friendly. Everything was just absolutely perfect and well worth $730 for the weekend, with double queen beds, a balcony, and a perfect view. Bathroom was a tight space but its was nice and clean. Definitely not a hole in the wall hotel. Good place for family and kids. And for the grown folks, there's a Jamaican beach club called Secrets that's a couple blocks down. It was dope. I came all the way from California to visit Ocean City and I plan to come back again next year. I had a blast.

Very good hotel, good location, very friendly staff.

My boyfriend and I came down for a long weekend. Even though it was cold and windy, we had a wonderful time. The staff was very friendly and the room was very cozy. Very glad they had an indoor pool so we could pretend it was summer ) We will definitely be back when it's warmer.

Clean, on the ocean, lovely place to stay and watch the winter. Nice inn food. Lovely people

I went with two little kids. The room was too small and the bathroom was even smaller. The fact that the beach was there and restaurants were close by made it a little better. I would not recommend for people with children. The pool was tiny and the smell chlorine was too heavy.

Nice place to stay perfect location. Restaurant was nice and clean. We watched the sun rise from our balcony....breath taking! It's worth the extra to stay on the board walk. My only disappointment was we did not get the room we reserved. We wanted a king bed that had a sofa in room and got a room with two double beds. We reserved this room because we were able to get king and have the sofa to relax. We will go again.

Very nice stay. Great location. Attentive staff. Wonderful housekeepers.

Lovely rooms, nice staff, we'll stay there next time we come to visit grampa

Older hotel but in good condition. Great location on Boardalk. Good resturant

We liked the hotel and the parking were very convenient. The view was very nice and the room was clean. We loved being wright on the beach with a view of the ocean.

nice place to stay right on the beach close to everything

The hotel was nice for the money, right on the beach.

stayed here for long weekend in Oct. nice ,clean comfortable room on boardwalk. all the staff were courteous & helpfull with any questions i had since this was my first trip to OC would recommend staying in oceanfront room to avoid noise from exhaust fans from restauraunts along one side of hotel. overall a nice hotel that i would definetly stay at again
