Z Hotel Jack London Square

This Hotel is in a great location. It actually feels like a motel as all rooms open either to the pool or the balcony above. My room was fine as far as cleanliness but the design feels dated and tired. The property has huge potential if refreshed. I would stay here again because of the location and the price. The desk staff was courteous but not particularly friendly.

For the price of this room it was not worth it. Ice machine on my floor was out of order and my thermostat batteries needed to be changed as soon as I check in. No AC and no ice to cool down is not a good start to a hotel stay.

We go to the Bay Area every year for a music festival. This was the 6th time we have stayed at the hotel. The staff has always been kind and helpful. They accomodated us years ago when we stayed at an awful hotel nearby. They got us in the very next day and let us do an early check in. This is one reason I will always choose to stay at the Z hotel! The hotel has gone through some remodels since we started coming and looks great. They now offer microwaves and fridges in the rooms. I witnessed the staff doing repairs and shampooing the carpets in neighboring rooms. The location is amazing too. It is right by places like Buttercup Grille, Souley Vegan, World Market, Bevmo, and various music venues and stores. It is right by the bay where a ferry runs and there are free buses that run by the hotel too. The pool is always clean too and is heated so you can swim in it even on those 70 degree days! I cant suggest staying here enough.

A solid, no frills experience. The staff is polite. The rooms are clean and have everything you need including room service. The surrounding area has tons of shops, bars and restaurants.

More of an upgraded motel really, in a square shape with an outdoor pool in the middle. Gardens are currently being upgraded. Very good basics, so good shower and towels, wifi, fridge, microwave and comfortable bed. Any issues were minor and rectified immediately by either reception or Ramone in maintenance. Everyone was very friendly.

This hotel had the best staff! Some of the best customer service I've ever experienced! It was in a convenient spot, rooms were clean and the beds wonderful. I have nothing bad to say about this place. Would definitely stay again.

Location is very good, Staff was very courteous, Property itself would benefit from some ‘freshening’.... easy walk to marina, train station, restaurants and bars

Hotel is in a great location. Close to entertainment venues (Yoshi's), restaurants, movie theater, SF ferry and some well known stores (Bed Bath and Beyond, Cost Plus, BevMo). Usually something fun happening at Jack London square on the weekends. The outside of the hotel is chic and modern but the rooms need updating (paint, carpet, tiling the bathroom...). Front desk staff was nice. My sink did not have hot water. Has a nice weight room and pool area.

This "hotel" is more of a motel - some rooms face an inner courtyard with a door leading directly to the outside and a window that people walk by and can look in. Thankfully, the courtyard is not accessible by the public. Rooms were clean but were missing some of the small touches you'd expect for paying so much (like a mini fridge or free water). The biggest issue I had with this hotel was the fitness center - it is in a room with one small fan, no AC and no water station. If you are going to work out in the heat, there should at least be a water cooler so that guests don't overheat. The machines are also very dated and the disinfecting wipes were all dry so you know the machines haven't been cleaned recently (maybe never).

The Hotel was ok, but my bathroom was not as clean as it should have been. I should not be looking at the floor trying to figure out if it dirts or mold in the corners or on the grout.. It shouldn't be either !! They have done some work since I last stayed there, but more is needed. I stay there more for the location to Jack London Square than I do for the overall quality of the hotel..

We chose this hotel because we were arriving on Amtrak and it was close to the station. The location was great - close to the train and the ferry to San Francisco. The room was comfortable and they had a very nice heated pool. Some coffee and danish in the morning would have made this a 5 but they did have a great diner next door for breakfast.

This is the third time I have stayed at this hotel and every time is a great experience. I go every year to Oakland for a music festival. Last year, I accidentally put in reservations for a hotel in Jack London that was a total bust. The staff at Z Hotel helped me get everything straightened and get me reservations there instead. I will always remember how they went above and beyond for me last year and suggest them to all my friends that come in for the music festival. It is so close to so many great restaurants and shops, the pool is amazing, the staff is so friendly and wonderful, and the hotel is so clean. I cannot recommend it enough! For the price you pay it is well worth it. My only complaint (if you can call it that) is that they don't have mini fridges or microwaves in their rooms. Otherwise... it is the best!!!

Loved the staff. Very comfortable. convenient location. The restaurant next for I'd s it's it done as the Food is not so good.

Our stay was fine. They are in middle of reconstructing their lobby (finished Mid-November, they say) so I can't really fault them for that. The temporary check-in was in the parking garage. No frills, but it was fine. The hotel exterior was clean and charming- a modern pool area and cute furniture. The room was comfortable enough. Definitely an older hotel with a coat of paint-- that is chipping, in some areas. The bathroom fixtures are definitely due to be replaced. There was only one coffee pod, for the in-room coffee-- but a Starbucks across the street. You do hear the train when it goes by, but we left the window open so it's possible that the noise would be less if it were closed.

Rebecca and everyone very friendly and helpful. Only reason not all 5 is there was construction on the front of the hotel and office. Made parking tricky but that should be done soon. Beautiful pool and rooms very comfortable. thank you!
