Knights Inn Berkeley CA2.0 out of 5.0

Clean small rooms with all the basic amenities like fridge, coffee maker and microwave. Parking later at night is an issue because the spaces are small, packed in tight with no margin of error when lot is full, very tight even for compact cars. Appeared to be family owned, managed and staffed, friendly and helpful for my limited needs. Breakfast is minimal, cereal, juice coffee and bread. My small room was surprisingly quiet. If you are used to major brands like Hilton or Marriott’s entry to mid level properties, this does not really compare but for the roughly $160 or so a night, this is what you should expect and perhaps hope for in a central Berkeley location. My first hotel which was similarly priced was horrible and I had to cancel, so in comparison this property was pretty good.
GREAT location.....3 blocks to BART, buses at your front door and EVER food type you could want in a 15 minute walk...Staff was super accommodating and made sure my needs were met....highly recommend staying here.
The room was very clean, the bathroom was very nice, the staff was beyond helpful and genuinely seemed to care whether or not my girlfriend and I were enjoying our stay. The man who works there (thinking the owner because he was working so hard and doing everything!) is very pleasant and accommodating. The location is perfect also if you plan to take BART into the city. I will stay here every time I'm in the Bay Area.
The prices of hotels in Berkeley make it a generally poor value choice, and this hotel is not different. It's a $45-value proposition (noisy, dark rooms with limited space to unpack) selling for three times more due to the location. An alternative would be, for exmple, a four star hotel for the same price or cheaper in Newark.
Situated well near everything that was important to us: Restaurants, bars, public transportation... Four stops to the boat pier in Oakland, six stops to San Francisco, about sixteen to the airport - perfect! Extremely friendly and helpful staff, free parking, clean rooms tastefully equipped with quite modern furniture that doesn't make you feel like your visiting someones greatparents. The breakfast doesn't deserve it's name. Good for non breakfasters like us, though. We stuck to coffee, which was on the watery side but okay. A bathtub would have been nice, or at least a detachable showerhead. The worst though: I left my email so they could send me the bill - instead I got signed up for another companies bonus program I never asked for nor agreed upon. This sucked major time and put a slight sour taste to what could have been a fully pleasant experience.
We stayed in Knights Inn Berkeley CA on out trip to San Francisco. The Motel is located 5 min walk from BART stations and the metro takes you to city center in 30 min. The rooms are renovated. Breakfast was below average. Our room key demagnetised and the parking is limited. If all parking spaces are occupied you can bearly get to your room. Otherwise clean and safe. Good value.
I have really enjoyed my stay here. The rooms are very neat and comfortable. The staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. They helped me on several occasions. I highly recommend this hotel if you need to stay around Berkeley.
Modest, family-run, clean and quiet motel with super friendly and helpful staff. Very conveniently located to downtown Berkeley and UC Berkeley campus. Steps away from transit to downtown San Francisco.
Motel was clean and the staff were friendly and accommodating. It's close to BART and good breakfast spot Homemade Cafe. Pillows were lumpy but that is about all the bad I have to say. There are restaurants and mini supers steps away. There is no kleenex so bring your own.
Yes we enjoyed our stay. Although we only stayed for a little over 12 hours, everything was great.Wish we could have stayed longer but the train would not wait. Will definitely stay again should we return.
