FYI- Check in office closes at midnight- flight was delayed and main office was locked and closed when I finally arrived at 11:30 pm. No lock on bathroom window. Thermostat had an error and didn't work. The iron kept exploding hot steam so I had to bail using it. Plugs sparked when I plugged in things. No drain cover in shower. Wish I could have slept in a jumpsuit based on everything else. I didn't expect much but I expected a little more.

this is a good value. unfortunately, there is limited parking, so had to park on the street till 9am and then move it to the parking lot. Plus, next door there is a lot of construction going on (End of Sept. 2015) so it was really noisy in the morning.

Kinda expected it to be in better conditions. It's a motel but the carpet was old, the bathroom smelled like crusted old bathroom even though it looked thoroughly cleaned. If it wasn't located so close to the university, I'd stay somewhere else. They also know how to upcharge during graduation time. The rates really do not reflect the value at all. They charge too much for small room and the convenience.

This hotel is conveniently located to UC Berkeley, but the accommodations are very basic. The furnishings and linens reminded me of a 1970s Motel 6. The staff were fine, but not particularly welcoming.

I had my mother visiting me for the weekend and I choose this hotel because of the location. It's very close to Downtown Berkeley and the bart station. The rooms looked clean and it had a microwave and refrigerator. Only complaint I have is there was alot of construction going on during the day.

Barkley is a really nice town and the location felt safe. We mainly took it because it was cheaper than taking a hotel in San Francisco and the public transportation comes quite often. But nothing special, a very simple hotel which served its purpose with a comfortable price.

We needed an overnight place to sleep. Considering the prices in the area we opted for the Travelodge. The location was great. Fairly quiet. The beds very comfortable. There was a lot of light emitted from the back of tv which was disturbing. The bathroom was somewhat moldy in places, vent didn't work, so we had to open the window. Breakfast was packaged rolls, some apples, etc. Nothing special. If we needed a one night sleep over we would stay there again because of the price.

Needed a place to stay for the night in Berkeley. I have not complaints for what I paid for. Rooms were clean, quiet, excellent location. I didn't care or expect a "high end" continental breakfast as there are so many places to try out in downtown Berkeley so why eat at the motel??? Walking distance to BART was ideal!!! So many different restaurants near makes this an ideal place to stay. Staff was friendly and the wi-fi had a strong signal. I'd have no problem staying here again!!! Like I said, I have no complaints for what I paid for!!!

It is a dump. Over priced. Miserable horrible beds. Terrible "continental breakfast".

I wouldn't recommend spending too much time here, but this is a perfectly fine hotel for crashing with friends at UC Berkeley for the weekend. The rooms are clean enough and the value is certainly fine. The staff is very friendly and accommodating.

I lived in Berkeley for four years and was always a bit hesitant about the motels on University. After moving away, I popped in for a short visit and found all of my friends out of town. I took a chance on the Travelodge and what a surprise! The room was your average motel fare, but the TV had full sattelite. There was a microwave and a fridge and the staff at the front desk was so pleasant and helpful. Really, location-wise, you can't beat it. So close to anything you need to get to in Berkeley. It was about as good as a motel stay can get. A hotel stay... definitely better but for quick and simple motel stay... I recommend!

If you need somewhere walking distance to campus, with a free parking space, and nothing better is available than this will do. No major problems with my stay. But it is the pinnacle of mediocrity for an American hotel. Flickering florescent bulb in the bathroom, only easily accessible outlet turned off with the lights, and a joke of a breakfast. If you arent too picky and just need somewhere to sleep, it will do.

We found the check in staff to be friendly and professional. The location of this Travelodge can't be beat - easy walking distance to amazing restaurants, campus, the Freight & Salvage, Berkeley rep, etc. Its an older property, so the bath is small and plain, the tile is aged, and I felt like the room could have done without *quite* so much furniture. It was nice to have the fridge and microwave, though we only used the fridge. Beds were quite nice, too - high quality sheets and nice mattresses. The price is similar to the downtown Berkeley Inn, but the location is much better.

Staff was ok, power went out on my second night. Not their fault but no security lights anywhere. They seemed not prepared.

It's the average room. Good location. I will consider going back any time.

Overall, it's not a bad deal if you get the room for $70-$80 per night. I wouldn't pay $100/night, it's too outdated. Travel tip: check the comforter when you arrive. My only complaint is when I settled down to go to bed, the comforter smelled like smoke. It had this musty, smoky smell. And the guy in check in made such a big deal this was a non smoking room and he would charge my credit card if they smelled smoke. Anyway, the next morning I told the cleaning lady. She even smelled the comforter and agreed it smelled bad. She said she would replace it. She ended up washing it and putting it back on the bed. I guess they don't have any spares? After that it smelled fine. The rooms are clean and housekeeping does a good job of cleaning. The room comes with free wifi and cable on an old 40inch color TV. Not a flat screen but it works fine. I enjoyed the hot showers and overall thought the experience was fine. Not remarkable but it did the job. Across the street is a Trader Joe's and lots of food places within walking distance. Not close enough to the BART station, about 1-1.5 miles, but I had my car so I didn't care anyway.

The hotel was old but had clean bedding and everything seemed clean in general. My main complaint is that the shower water went from luke warm to scalding hot. I re-adjusted the water and then the water went to cold. Re-adjusted, then scalded me again. I finally gave up before getting clean and refreshed.

This motel was close to the campus and central to downtown. The room had a minifridge and a microwave. Next time I'm doing research at berkeley, i plan to stay hete again.

My wife and I stayed at the travel lodge just before flying back to the east coast. It was a fairly clean room. What you are paying for is the location. It is very close to the BART and the shops and restaurants of Berkeley. The room is small and the cleaning products used have a crazy strong odor, we tried airing the place out while getting ready for dinner but to no avail. It smells like you are staying in the pool shed with all the pool chemicals. We paid $99 for the night which was the cheapest we found but it was more like a $50-60 room. This is the cost of staying in Berkeley.

The hotel was small but the room was ok six. The bathroom was a little cramped. The hotel attendant was very nice and helpful. Rowdy roomates since so close to the college but we went for a concert at Greek theatre so it was good walking distance.
