Excellent renovation. Close to the Beach, Kapiolani Park, etc. A new "resort fee" is a hidden cost & do review your charges from The Queen Kapiolani Hotel, as they overcharged my credit card over $400 bucks, & is now in dispute. A real hassle.

I booked the city view room, anticipating that it would be a view of the beautiful city of Honolulu. The view was of a run down apartment building balcony. The residents were literally sitting out on their balconies hanging clothes out to dry. If I raised the shades they could look right over at me sitting in my bed. The bathroom is super small. You can hardly move around without bumping against the toilet or the tub. There is no closet or racks to hang anything. The balcony was small and old and dirty with two small sitting chairs. There was a 2’ - 3’ inch opening at the bottom of the balcony door, large enough for a lizard or a mouse to come through. My last two nights, I paid extra to upgrade my room. The upgraded room was a suite, and was a little larger with more amenities. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone planning on visiting Waikiki. This was my first trip to Hawaii, and this hotel was the worst part of the trip.

Had a great time. Located close to the ocean with lots of places to eat around it. Overall, good time.

Staff were extremely helpful and excellent hosts. The hotel was quick to respond to any questions or concerns.

Takes forever to get service at The deck bar. The drinks were horrible . Food wasn’t good . They have a dj that plays loud terrible music til 930 at night u can hear from your room . Hair on the sheets when we got there they didn’t look fresh . Only good service were the gentleman at the valet .

loved the location and new upgrades….we stayed there 17 years ago and the changes were light and modern. We would stay there again....easy to get around and Diamond Head outside our room everyday was fantastic.

Great atmosphere, view and Bed. Would love to stay again

We were very pleased with our stay at Queen Kapiolani Hotel. Most of the hotel had been renovated by the time of our stay, however, they were still working on some areas. The renovations are clean, tasteful, and modern. The room itself was comfortable and clean. You can see areas that reveal its past design, but can also see the lengths to which they've brought it up to modern taste and standards, which was really nice. The exercise center was recently renovated and had a plethora of equipment including treadmills, stair master, elliptical, stationary bike, various weight equipment, and weights. It was also air conditioned for comfort and had a filtered water dispenser. There was also a filtered water dispenser in the lobby next to the concierge desk. We refilled our empty water bottles daily, which was really convenient. The location of the hotel is perfect. Although one may think being right in the middle of Waikiki would be better, that's not necessarily so. I think the location of the hotel is a nice balance. It's very close to the bus lines that take you to Hanauma Bay, Diamond Head, Makapu'u, as well as near the bus lines that take you along Kuhio into the heart of Waikiki. Because it's on the eastern edge of Waikiki, there isn't as much tourist foot traffic which helps a little with general noise. It's also half a block from the beach and lagoon as well as park, which is really convenient for short swims or a pleasant morning jog.

My husband and I booked a last minute trip to Oahu for our 2 year wedding anniversary. Decided on staying at the Queen Kapiolani hotel based on price, location, and the fact that it’s a newly renovated hotel. We booked a Premier View King Room for a total of 4 nights. Check in process was quick and and easy. We got up to our room on the 15th floor and the view was unreal! Panoramic views of the ocean and diamond head. The room was spacious modern and designed very well. Based on the photos of what the hotel previously looked like they did an amazing job renovating. Our room had a private balcony which was awesome to just sit and appreciate the view. The hotel has a nice pool with plenty of seating attached to the Hotel’s restaurant called Deck. Didn’t eat at the restaurant but we grabbed a few drinks there 2 of the nights we stayed. During our stay housekeeping cleaned our room everyday so every time we came back from a long day out we came back to tidy room which was great. Front desk staff was very friendly as well. One of the biggest highlight of the hotel staff would 100% be the valet and baggage guys. They were our first and last interaction at the hotel and they definitely leave a great lasting impression. Every valet and baggage staff we encountered was super friendly, helpful, and approachable. I loved that we were able to talk them and it just felt very natural, like we were talking to our friends/family. Will definitely be back!
