Hawaiian Monarch Hotel

This place needs to be shut down. It's only saving grace is that it is in Hawaii.

Parking procedures and overall cleanliness subpar.

If you rent a car keep in mind every hotel in town is going to charge you for parking, but this hotel is the first one to charge us $25 per day, lucky for us we only stayed there 2 nights... I refused to pay for parking so I looked for parking on the street, it worked out good with the only downside that you have to move the car by 6 am (i'm from the east coast so i was up by 5am cuz of the hour difference). The room was not clean, the hotel itself was old and stinks. Nothing like the pictures except for the pool. I'll give them that, the poom is actually nice.

Clean room great staff and hotel we really like the location Waikiki in the convention center we had a good time it was cheap you get what you pay for

Location is so-so, room like run-down, stain and dirty carpet, white socks became black, $25 per-day parking

From t the GM, Vanessa to parking attendant the experience is like the 6th grade dance. The staff all act like why me......i always chaperon, what about the rest of the staff. So if you are the star athlete with a cheerleader girlfriend I would highly recommend the Hawaiian Monarch, but for us average Joe and Jane be ready to "you can't" and don't even think of asking why. Thrust me I seen it in action at least twice a day. The award winning hotel police will give you a 1st verbal warning and a time out. (trasspassing violation). To sum it up bring sweet treat for your favorite teacher (front desk) and a broom for the GM. Hope she will fly away but if not give it to one of the staff so they can sweep some of the trash on the grounds.

Just need a room to sleep for the night. This hotel is reasonable.

Staff was nice. Just be aware no WIFI in the room . Walking distance to the beach. This is an old hotel so don't expect too much. The price is cheap compared to the other hotels in the area. Good hotel if you don't plan on staying in it but to sleep.

The hallway smells very bad, the shower tab is ver old & sleepery. There were insects in the bath room every day. I would not recommend to my friends!

The staff was great but the rooms are old and the carpet was terrible.

it is shocking that I was charged 15$ per night and no wifi is available in the room.

Room is too small for two people, bed is comfortable and I like the daily housekeeping. People at the front desk are nice and warm. However, having to go to the Lobby to have access to Internet is most inconvenient.

Pretty quite on the top floor. We went on the right time of the year.

It was on the edge of sketchy but if its all you can afford go for it. There are more central locations for a little more $$ which is what I would do if I could get a do over. Bar downstairs & residents that lived in hotel seemed to bring a rough crowd, not unbearable though.

The new exercise facilities are outstanding, state of the art health club life cycle equipment, hot tub is small but kept clean, rooms could use update, roof over head and bed is all I need in waikiki.

The rooms are comfortable and clean. The personnel, nice and helpful. The parking, expensive, but you can park on the street, with limitations. The location is good, and the price is reasonable.

My Boyfriend and I stayed here to be walking distance to the beach. It is a Basic hotel and Wifi is extra cost.

Definitely an older Hotel and showing it's age i.e. paint scrapes, UGLY aqua green paint, old carpet etc., but served it's purpose of a place to sleep and shower at night, but definitely lower your expectations. Bathroom was tiny for two people, housekeeping did clean the room daily in a timely manner. Desk personnel were most part friendly but did encounter one rude lady on last day. Open air lobby with bar on lowest level, and I would not recommend the bar, went in one night to get pizza, very salty by the way, and it was one of the sleaziest dive bars, I have ever been in. Location was right beside Ala Wai canal so it was a good 15 minute walk to Waikiki beach. Not bad if you are in decent shape but would wear on older, small child or out of shape. basically I would mainly recommend for two young guys or group of guys looking for a cheap place to crash on vacation and that would make use of the sleazy bar and have lots of energy for the walk to the beach. Would not recommend for couples or families unless you care more about low price than comfort.

Had a great time..walked around the vicinity and visited various restaurants. Also, visited the Mall area. Convention center was the primary place of my visit. Very nice and comfortable. Took a tour of where the attack on Pearl Harbor took place.

I stayed at this hotel for a week. Upon check-in, I wasn't courteously greeted by reception, very nonchalant and carefree really.. I just wanted my room key so I could change and hit the beach so I tried not to let her stinky attitude bother me. The room was a decent size and had a great view of the mountains and I had a slight ocean view in the opposite direction. I really enjoyed the lights come dark! The bed was a bit too hard for my liking (I really prefer a softer mattress# but it was a king sized bed so I wont complain. However there was a questionable stain on the sheet near where it gets tucked under the mattress... rust, hair dye, cleaning chemical perhaps? either way, the linen should be spotless. The ironing board was broken and there are not enough outlets in the room to plug the iron in.. I had to use the counter in the bathroom... I had the space of a 2x4. My door look was iffy.. I had to request new keys twice. quite a headache when living on the 22nd floor! I didn't use the pool, bar or restaurant on site so I cant comment on it. Would I stay here again? Sure why not... But I would definitely shop around just to stay in other hotels for the sake of it if I was to visit Oahu again #which I very much plan to do). The view and price is what really saved this hotel for me.
