Overall nice, but one blonde female behind the counter almost wreck my vacation.

Friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful views. No complaints except that the pool area was under construction for upgrades while we were there. We were allowed to use the pool at the next door hotel, which was beautiful. Our room accommodated our family of 4 very comfortably. Perfect location for walking to beach, stores and restaurants in Waikiki.

The hotel is ideally situated in Waikiki two blocks from the beach & lots of shops & restaurants. It was great to be able to wake up and be in the water within 5 minutes. The hotel staff were all very friendly & courteous. The lobby was basic but inviting with free lemon water provided. The room was very basic but clean and comfortable. The beds were firm and the linens were clean and crisp. The kitchen was well stocked, plenty of towels (including beach towels) were provided. The views were awesome.

The best thing about this hotel is the location. Less than a five minute walk from Waikiki beach and the shopping/restaurant area. Ten minute walk from a public parking lot for your rental car (a must). However, several inconveniences came up during our stay: 1) the key card to enter the elevator area worked infrequently and staff were not always on hand to assist and let us into the hotel 2) it took 3 days to get us connected to wifi even though I approached the front desk two or three times about the issue. the problem wasn't fixed until I requested and waited for maintenance staff to arrive to my room and it turned out that the information we were given was incorrect. no one from management acknowledged/apologized for this inconvenience 3) didn't have an extra blanket in the room even though we made a reservation for two adults and two separate beds 4) the door to the balcony was jammed upon our arrival and we had to wait for maintenance to fix it so we could access the balcony (there is no smoking allowed on the balcony, which could be a big inconvenience for smokers) 5) the furniture in the living room was quite old, not as pictured 6) about half of the front desk staff we interacted with was not welcoming/friendly 7) the sauna was difficult to find because of poor signage and construction on that floor. it turned out to be extremely dirty. (though not a main attraction in Hawaii, during the rainy season it should be clean, especially if advertised as an amenity)

I was greeted with construction in the hotel lobby entrance. The bellhop service was horrible, as I was given the wrong luggage upon return back to the hotel at check-in time. I was given a room right next to the elevator shaft and all through the night the sound of the elevator going up and down kept me awake. The housekeeping staff was very unpleasant and rude. The cleaning of my room was minimal at best. Worst experience I've ever had in all of my years of visiting Waikiki!

Not fancy but nice, Friendly helpful staff. Walking distance to beach.

We enjoyed our stay here. We had a full kitchen and a king bed. Furnishings are a little older but in good condition and everything is clean. The carpets were new looking and very clean. The maid service was great and the front desk was helpful, professional, and friendly. We had a partial ocean view on a higher floor with a lanai. There is a large grocery store about a block and a half away which was an easy walk. Hotel has a key card entry to get inside elevator area. Parking was alright, but be sure to follow the rules exactly, because a tow truck pulls into the parking garage and a man with a flashlight goes around checking all the parking passes in the vehicle windows. The garage is out to make a profit, no exceptions. The hotel does not own the garage which is unfortunate. Everything else was good. I just felt worried about leaving my car in the garage and photographed it in the parking space with my ticket on the window and the space number, just in case I needed proof that we indeed followed all the rules.

APM was located to EVERYTHING!!! I love to walk and hike. This hotel was in walking distance of everything. Restaurants, shopping, THE BEACH, cultural sites, Diamond Head. Great waves, great luaus. GOOD PEOPLE! The hotel provided a shuttle for the convenience of the guest. The Trolleys were an excellent way to see the Island. Every experience you ever dreamed to have is available. Our experience was like having everything we needed at our fingertips.

Besides the factthat our card keyes never worked, the staff was rude & lazy. Only person that ever helped us was the housekeeper that would come & refill her cart. We opt to let any one in our room because after a few travels & having people steal from us we trust no one. The parking loy was a joke to get into & let alone get out of. More reserved spots then free hotel guest spots. The shower curtain had 7 holes in it... the shower area needed caulking so bad it was hard to use. The towels were all strained and the hotel was very reluctant to give us any extras at any time. Again thank goodness the housekeeper was right next door. We knew that she would come in the room even though we put the DND sign out. Some of our food was missing as well as some personal items... good god this isn't Mexico butt whatever. Carpet in room & hallways older then the hotel itself. Plus we had to vacate our room for an bug extermination & major water shutdown. Not my idea of a 3.8 or 4 star hotel. Overall rating is still 1 & I would never go back. Diamond rating is totally overrated. Big fat lie. That complimentary breakfast & orientation may have been free but it nevver happened. Only thing that worked was the bus ride to & from the airport. Everything else failed. The trip ended up starting poorly & ending even worse. Not going back to this hotel ever! Old & dirty. Amenities & service sucked. They defeinately have friends & family overrating this place on line. Neighbor hood not that great either...

Good location for everything.room is clean and comfortable.

Had 2 rooms reserved, one for us and one for the Grand daughters (20yo twins and 18yo). Hotel could not give us rooms next to each other, so they gave us upgrades with wonderful oceans views. Hotel is older, but the location is perfect. It is a very short 2 blocks to the beach and short walks to many restaurants, shops and activities. Staff are always great and very accommodating. Not the cheapest, not the most expensive......just a nice place to stay. I would recommend to most people, except those that are picky.

Pros: Room is large and has a kitchenette with dishes. Cons: -Parking $25/day on top of the $15 day resort fee. If you come back after 10pm you have to park get out and go to the front desk to ask them to open the gate. -TWIN beds!! Seriously too small, only good for kids. I rolled off twice during my stay. -Window AC unit that blows directly on one bed and is loud. -Balcony is the length of the room but only about 2 feet wide, no furniture to sit on. -Ice machine is in the lobby. Need to exit sliding glass doors and to get back in you have to use your room key. -Hot water in shower is inconsistent, goes from scalding to cold without touching the knobs. Shower head was corroded and unable to change settings. -WiFi spotty, strong next to the router but on the bed only 10 feet away only 1 bar. -TV is mounted inconveniently, blocked by dresser if lying on the bed that the AC is not blowing on. Definitely would not recommend and would recommend staying at a different brand if this is what all Aqua hotels are like.

nice location for everything we need in Waikiki. good room with all the thing we need for a short term vacation. highly recommended.

Was Great value for money, Great location too! Rooms have wall of glass and huge sliders that open to balcony! Our first room got hot from all day sun so they upgraded for free to Higher floors on other side of building... WHAT A VIEW!

This was our third stay at the Monarch...and we will go back again and again...because the location is perfect...the staff is wonderful...the full kitchen is a huge plus...and the pool on the roof is a great place to be...even if it is only for a sunrise or sunset picture. The laundry facilities is a good feature too. The main beach is about a block from the hotel...and one only needs a car when you want to explore the Island...because all the important shops and restaurants are just a short walk from the hotel. Very convenient. I recommend the Pacific Monarch to all my friends and some.

The price was right. The staff very helpful. We checked out at noon and were able to use the hospitality room all day, very accommodating! The view was great! Staff responded quickly to every request. The tours we booked through the hotel were very interesting. It was a quiet place to sleep and we enjoyed the sound of the surf. Sue from Iowa

I've travelled to and lived in Honolulu off and on for years - but this is the first time I tried this hotel and I loved it. I like to surf and it is 5 minutes from room to paddle - with or without board - there's heaps to rent a stone's throw away. The hotel doesn't try to be anything it isn't - it is is an modestly priced, very pleasing, very "real Waikiki" experience. The staff is lovely, the rooms are lovely(simple) and clean, and the roof-top pool is somewhere between surreal and sensational. Great experience, if a bit city-loud.

Staff was helpful, appreciated the responsiveness on the whole. Be careful parking is expensive at $25 a night. I was here on a Fri - Tues conference and brought my wife, so as the rooms were small it was convenient. If you aren't looking for extravagance its a decent place to stay, but if your looking for extravagance, just take a walk to the beach five minutes away. Great views of Waikiki, but again, if your in Honolulu, why aren't you on the beach any way!

Waikiki beach is in a walking distance. My room was not ocean view. But you can climb up to roof and see 360 degree view. Very nice view. Only a problem was that AC was put just next to bed. If I set it strong, it was too cold on bed. But if I set it weak, the other area of room wasn't cooled down enough. Except this, it was a very nice room and hotel.

This hotel was very much cheaper than most in Waikiki. Comfortable for 4 people. Nice hotel in easy walk to Waikiki beach. Beach view from high floor, but a few blocks away. Excellent value, I'd recommend it, if you don't want to pay hundreds more for beachfront.
