Absolutely fantastic can not express in words how fabulous our day was celebrating our parents diamond wedding anniversary. All the staff, especially our waiters were exceptional Very happy Will definitely visit again soon. A lovely traditional and special experience
Clean, comfortable and friendly. Sat nav went a bit weird but found it in the end. Not much time spent there. Pretty terrace though and good breakfast. Small car park but can park in the road with a pass.
Better than your box standard hotel loads of character, food great free parking staff attentive and cheerful can't do enough for you, tucked away short walk to town lovely hotel, will definitely be back if we go to Nottingham again which was lovely.
Upon our arrival, on a hot day after a long drive, we found that we could not park on the hotel premises. There were already eight vehicles there. We could bump up on the pavement, on one side of the road. No we couldn't. It was already full. By special arrangement, conducted by the receptionist, someone would raise the barrier on the other side of North Road (busy) and we would have to bring our luggage(considerable) across the road and up a steep flight of steps to reception. No lifts, no-one to help with the luggage. "Sorry, a guest has not returned their key. I will open the room and sort it out later" The corridors and staircases, of which there were many) were fitted with black carpet. This created a hazard in these gloomy areas because one could not see the leading edges of the steps. No air conditioning in our room (25). It was stuffy even though the windows were open, letting in flies and traffic noise. The room was comfortable, but we had a very bad night. The shower looked very smart. The water issued from a large, non-adjustable shower head. The water would cascade down in front of the controls, so one could not alter the temperature without getting wet. On the other hand the staff were helpful and breakfast, not included, was splendid. So, all in all, I will not be returning. In view of the high cost of the accommodation there should have been ample on-site parking and air conditioning. The staircases, corridors and room should have been much better lit. There should have been staff to help transfer luggage up the stairs, and down again.
Booked last minute for an overnight stay due to going to Splendour. No complaints at all, the room was great for the 3 of us with plenty of room. The location for the park is perfect as on a bus route & only a 5 minute ride into town centre. The bed was more than comfortable and had all the facilities we needed. Hair dryer, iron, ironing board etc. We used the bar before we went out & think drinks are reasonable. Lots of seating areas both inside and out. Plus they have parking. What more do you need!?
I was served by two young men (Chris and Tucky I think it was) who were absolutely fantastic. The two of them really looked after me brilliantly at the bar! Both in their twenties and both friendly and very efficient. Can't wait to return and be served FIRST CLASS Pimms and local beers. Brilliant as always - fantastic service from the two chaps! 5* and will be back v soon!!
I got caught out with the extra £50 expected to pay upon arrival for a one night stay even though I'd already paid up front. A "deposit" apparently that I'm hoping too see back in my bank account. This was not explained to me at the point of booking that I would need to pay this and no real explanation as to what it was for was given. Coupled with a refusal to honour an "includes breakfast" statement on my booking confirmation, I left hungry and extremely upset at my treatment by the inflexible reception staff. George, who works in front of house, is the only redeeming feature this hotel offers. Would definitely not be staying here again.
The Walton was in a great location for us and had lots of character. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was quiet and the bed / pillows very comfortable. Our room had a fridge and iron / board as well as the usual hair dryer, tea / coffee making facilities (but no biscuits) etc. We didn't dine there, but breakfast was very good albeit a bit slow. The hotel does need a lot of work though. Our wash basin was cracked, the shower hose needed replacing, the ceiling looked like it was going to fall down soon and generally the hotel looked a bit tired / run down. Not what I'd expect for £125 a night for the room only.
We had a dinner for 21 people in a delightful private function room, beautifully decorated with large dining table and large leather sofas. All the staff were so attentive and friendly and made the evening very special. I would've definitely recommend The Walton .
Fantastic party venue in a beautiful setting. Old country feel on the edge of Nottingham city.
