I wish I had read the reviews on here before committing to a night's stay at this exceptionally deceiving hotel. To start off with, it doesn't have a car park and you have to park in the one opposite and pay 12 pounds for 24 hours. On top of this, you have the joy of walking up or down the steps of this car park which smells of urine and frankly feels unsafe. Moving on to the room, my bed was ok, the room decor was just awful. I felt like I was in a museum and expected to see a note next to each item to understand its significance because none of it complemented any of it. They have no wifi in the rooms. I would have been better off staying in a youth hostel than this. They need to review their prices as they certainly do not deserve anything more than 20 pound a night for this. Would like to apologise to the blonde curly haired guy checking in that night too, that frown on my face was not aimed at you, I just couldn't believe I had made such a terrible mistake. The staff however are lovely.
Stayed in room 401 for two nights 6th/7th November. Room was reasonably clean, although a bottle of used water had been left by the bed. Walls very freshly painted and shutters along the window wall gave room a very good dark element on a morning, which was good. could not hear the traffic even tho we were over a car park and road. Staff were excellent, drinks were very cheap, two for one, there was only 14 rooms apparently occupied so we were able to pick any seats in the resturant and use the lifts very easily. We did not have any rooms on either side of us so we were not having to be very quiet with the tv ect.Meals were good (Buffett style) there are no complementary toiletries in the room, but an adeqate supply of tea coffee and milk. The sheets on the bed were a bit well-worn but ok. no blankets and it was a bit cold overnight. Very Good shower and bath. For the price and the location It was definately good value for the money, and we would return. We travelled with National Holidays and hope that they can get more people using this hotel. We heard that only 14 rooms out of 500 were occupied----shame.
Stayed for one night and have to say it wasn't the nicest hotel iv ever stayed in. Room was shabby and heating didn't work so was given a portable heater. A whole In the wall that had been filled with tissue paper. But overall quite clean. The corridor had a trail of blood on the carpets and walls right the way to the lift on the 2nd floor. We had an evening meal and breakfast as part of our package and the food was lovely as were the waiting and bar staff. Hotel just very cold including bar and restaurant areas.
Despite its great location, within a few hours of checking in I had got my money refunded and checked in elsewhere. The hotel has the most unpleasant odour throughout, it is tired and in need of a refurbishment. Bedroom was small with very old furniture but the worst thing was the state of the bathroom. I had already wiped the toilet seat clean before I used it but then I saw the state of the sink and nearly cried (hair, debris and something else EXTREMELY unpleasant. I went out to dinner advising reception to give them a chance to resolve but three hours later everything was still the same with the addition of the discovery of a dirty stained towel hidden between the bed and wall. Manager finally came to the room and was so visibly shocked himself couldn't argue and refunded me immediately. Thankfully the hotel opposite had availability. Staff were friendly and apologetic but are unable to feel enthusiastic when all around them is jaded!
Stopped in room 8020 the room was absolutely disgusting filthy carpets worn dirt on the walls, cupboards falling to bits handles missing other guests taking drugs in the lift. 100 pound a night you should have paid me to stop here not a safe environment to stop in please avoid! I will never ever stop here again needs shutting down the management should be ashamed!
Spend one night here, great location for going out in the city at night. There are many negative reviews, ok yes some carpets in the corridors could do with a clean or replacing, some walls could do with a lick of paint - but this is just a bed for the night, it’s not an expensive spa hotel. We stayed in room 416, at the end of a corridor. The room was massive & wasn’t bad at all (see pics). Would I return again? Well I will always check prices of all city centre hotels, If there are deals to be had I would say wherever, but if this is the cheapest by a long shot, I’d go back for another nights stay.
Great city centre location, off site car parking available. Wish I had to read trip advisor on this one. Would not recommend this hotel, would describe it as one step up from a hostel. Some of the bed clothes from Primark.
Stayed they on 11th October. The sink was full of vomit.. and I mean A LOT. the room stunk of vomit. There was a huge hole in the wall that was blowing in cold air from the outside. The carpet was awful. I told reception about the problems and they cleaned the sink out.. and that was it. They dont reply to emails regarding complaints. AVOID AT ALL COSTS !!!!!!!
I stayed here for a couple of nights and won’t be back. Tired on every level. Shabby, chipped, stained decor everywhere. Ancient TV set in my room. Shower was dangerous as the hot was scalding and no warning signs. The lock on my door was sticky and took a bit of fiddling to close. Noisy student night outside to top it all. Horrible.
The carpets are filthy and quite possibly beyond cleaning. The hotel is generally in need of restoration. I complained that the hot tap was continually dripping and pointed out that this must cost them money, the reply was that the owner was a millionaire and could afford it. One night between 3 and 4 in the morning we were kept awake by a heated argument going on next door, made all the more audible by the fact that there was an adjoining door. I tried several times to contact the night porter but got no answer, my concern is that if this had become a physical argument or that there had been an urgent problem there was nobody available to deal with the situation. I complained in the morning and the receptionist merely shrugged. The food is not up to much and we only ate there one night preferring to go to the local Wetherspoons for quality food and service. Breakfast at the hotel was one price whether you had a full English or a continental, we eat at Wetherspoons. The only good thing about this hotel is that it is very close to the town centre and to a terrific choice of pubs and restaurants.
