Booked to stay here for 2 nights whilst working in Nottingham, a mistake I will never make again. Rooms - The central heating did not work despite me informing the reception almost immediately nothing was done and I was forced to use a trouser press to keep warm. - There was a spring pertruding from my mattress which could've caused a serious injury. - The bathroom was clean however there was only 1 towel provided. After being misinformed by the front desk I was quoted £130 for an extra night (oppose to the £32 I had paid previously) and so was forced to find an alternative. When I complained about being misinformed the situation was shrugged off. Instead I stayed at the national water sports centre although this was outside of the city centre I would recommend to anyone rooms were clean and staff were very helpful and was great value for money. I would definitely not stay at the Britannia again the rooms were grubby cold and generally just run down. The only positive is the location (City centre) however there are many other hotels in the same area.
Dirty, drug dealing outside the main door, bed sheets like crisp packets, ordered a late check out and was told to let the cleaners know so not to be woken! Smelly room, every time the toilet flushed brown water came through. No shampoo or body wash in the dispenser. When I complained through the website a representative called Caroline replied stating they do have a contract with the local council, to house homeless people....not once was this mentioned in my complaint to them. I did however mention homeless people begging on the hotel doorstep and residents of the hotel supplying drugs to them( outside the premises) offered a 10 percent discount to which I accepted after a rather abrupt reply, and very dismissive of my complaints.
Well situated, and the (expensive) car park is convenient. Hotel is shabby and decorated like its 1978. Check in was quick, room on the 9th floor was basic, poor bed, crap pillows, rubbish towels and noisy if the lift moved. Shower ok, no fuss bathroom products. But it's very cheap.
A real quick review. Avoid this hotel at all costs, dated, dirty unhelpful staff the list goes on and on! You get what you pay for and never been more true than for this hotel. You could argue that they should actually pay YOU to stay there.
I just recently spent a week on a work triaining course which was held in the conference rooms on the top floor of this hotel. The rooms were very good and had lovely views out the window all across Nottingham city and beyond. . Refreshments were provided by the hotel, which included bottled water (still and sparkling), cordials and tea and coffee. The hotel also had a very nice restaurant on the first floor and also a bar/coffee shop. The restaurant is only £6 for 3 courses at lunch time, which is very good value and the food is excellent here. I recommend a visit. I have always live din Nottingham but not heard of it before so it needs better advertising throughout the city. Staff were friendly and helpful here too.
I went to this hotel as part of a training course which was held in there meeting and conference rooms on the 10th floor.. this is certainly not where i would have them but i am guessing it works for the hotel and the skyline. I arrived on monday and we went in one of the 2 lifts in the foyer. the lift was missing the hold the door button. it had a hole your could put your whole finger in. I understand that you have to pay for hot drinks etc but when you put out cups, tea bags and coffee i would expect hot water but no. thankfully the meeting room had still water in a non cold fridge with cordial to choose from. The meeting room was clean and the tables had conference meeting book with pen with paper inside the book to write on which was a good thing. Sadly the electricity for the projector which is used in the elec hole didnt work but a extension lead was supplied by staff (staff very friendly and helpful!!!) on our breaks we decided due to the weather to go out side and went down the alternative lift. this has all the buttons but i would decribe its desending as free for all and i refused to go in it as it shook so badly. The toilets were ok if you like a sticky floor and even after i had reported on the first morning - for which them sent a cleaner up with spray bottle and looked like blue industrial tissue it was still bad for the whole 3 days. If you want friendly staff but dont give a hoot about lifts rooms and conference facilities then this is the hotel for you... if you want a hotel that does... go to somewhere like the jurys inn or across the road from the britannia.. the park plaza
First impression: What the F*ck. Looked like an abandoned building tbh. First impression of the room: Very small and dingy. I think the sliding doors was okay near the window. The bed was very hard and uncomforable sleeping on because it was rock solid, our backs, necks and arms hurt alot in the morning. TV was small like something I had when I was 5 years old. The bathroom bath tub was also very small as we wanted to sit in it together. For a hotel that price I'd say should of had a bigger bathroom. The windows were sort of on a lock so I couldn't open it and vape. I am very disappointed with Britannia for such a CRAP experience. Also staff were not friendly at all like it says so. On the website there are such lovely rooms but in person such false advertising! DO NOT GO HERE!
We stayed at this hotel for two nights whilst visiting the city. We took advantage of a special offer price which they do Monday to Friday. I have to say that, for what we paid, we had an excellent stay. We had a large double room on the 2nd floor and everything was clean with good room service. We also had the breakfast, (for an extra seven pounds each), which was really good. The hotel is in a good location. Everything was within walking distance. Use the NCP car park at "maid marion way" for four pounds 50pence for 24 hours, 10 minutes walk away. Other car parks are horrendously expensive! On the negative side, sadly, it is in need of some refurbishment. Our room was fine although the air conditioning/heating was not working. An electric radiator had been put in the room and it did keep the room warm. The outside of the hotel looks very shabby but is fine inside. Don`t be fooled by the website pictures which must have been taken when it was first built. We would definitely stay here again for the price we paid and could recommend it as a reasonable hotel but certainly not at the "full" list price.
Run-of-the mill basic city hotel. Ideal for Nottingham Castle and close to city nightlife with many bars and good restaurants within a couple of minutes stroll. Bed comfortable and clean. However, don't sleep with the window open. Not if you want to avoid the bells shattering your sleep. Bath chipped and discoloured. Floor tiles cracked and furniture badly marked and worn. Skirting board badly need repainted - Observations - not complaints as my stay was OK. TV, trouser press and tea making facilities in working order
Stuck in a room by the elevator, not able to sleep because of the noice. Asked for a different room and the reception was unhelpful, rude, and lied to me. How can a hotel charge you for a room you can’t sleep in?
