Stayed in the so called ‘premium’ hotels in Notts such as Hilton and Crowne plaza and fair enough you get better facilities but in terms of comfort and general state of the repair the Britainia can compete, yes the rooms could do with a refresh(the Hilton’s just as dated and there was plenty of wine stains on the carpet in Crowne🙄) and you’ll notice a stench of cigarette smoke while walking down the halls but for the location and a decent nights sleep,(comfy clean beds) can’t fault the Britainia. You’ve got Tesco’s literally around the corner as is the best Indians in Notts imo. The staff have always been pleasant but we’ve never had to engage apart from the check in and out. It’s a favourite of the blu rinse brigade on their coach outings bless them but that adds to the character of the place because I’ve had many a funny conversation with the residents while stumbling into the lifts intoxicated 😁 my friend and I are booked up for this Friday and Saturday £125👌🏻 can’t go wrong the last room we had we even got 2 bathrooms🙌🏻💕
Overall out stay was fine. The room we had was great with sliding doors instead of curtains, this was a novel touch. The room was airy and clean, and everything in the bathroom worked fine and again it was clean. The location in on the centre of town so is perfect. The only downside was the meals. It was a weekday and pretty busy so we arrived Latisha to eat and the food had been left out quite a while. This is always a problem I guess when large hotels cater en mass. The quality though there was nothing at all wrong with. At breakfast the next day it was very busy but we did manage to find a quieter table away from the the coach trippers who obviously knew each other so it was a bit noisy. We had our parking ticket validated and had a faultless stay. The only thing was no plug sockets near the bed. And my partner uses electric breathing apparatus so we had to go buy an extension lead. Something to check before hand.
Me and my wife have visited Nottingham on many an occasion and this was one of the first hotels we stayed at. Very reasonable price and it's location makes it perfect to get in and out of the town centre so easily.
Nothing like the website describes....I asked to view my room before I paid the fee. I was on my way to another hotel within ten minutes. Dirty and unsafe. Would advise against women saying here on their own.
Please do not book this hotel it is an absolute hell hole it doesn’t matter about location or the price I would rather of stayed in a skip by the bin sheds the whole place is a total shambles the lift is dangerous with no hand rail only spikes sticking out the sides the hall way by the rooms is a total mess with holes in the carpets the rooms now that was another experience the toilet had a crack in it that looked like it had been repaired with toothpaste the room stank of damp and dirty would never ever go there again and don’t be fooled by the pictures they show on there website believe me it is nothing like that also don’t think that it will be warm in there as the heating doesn’t even come on until 5oclock at night so is really cold in your room in the day time
Well where do i start? Walk in and all foreign staff are wearing coats, place is dirty and not been cleaned in what felt like forever!! I am not a fussy person but jesus christ!! Payment on arrival so they can take your money before you see how bad the rooms and service is!! Then we checked out afyer an hour and the hotel has a no refund policy!! The room itself was very 80s, bedsheets were stained carpet was dirty, bathroom had a bath that was also stained and cracked along with no shampoos or anything. Weird white stain on the sofa, tv did not work along with that, No curtains in room they have wooden sliders that look lile a one armed apprentice joiner knocked up! Whole room along with hotel felt grubby and greasy!! Lifts had graffiti in them, told staff it wasnt what i was expecting and explained very politely and wanted to check out and they didnt even blink (obviously used to it) And the best bit!!!! Found a used condom in the drawer!!! What the hell, i will NEVER EVER set foot in any brittania hotel as long as i live. Good location but thats it, alex langstram wants stopping!! You want an idea how bad this hotel is, well brittania hotels decided to house refugees!! Would rather go self catering in syria with the taliban as neighbours. Awful awful and awful!! For the extra 10 quid or whatever go get a travelodge or premier inn. Do not use these dumps.
I have many points to cover. Firstly I had booked 3 twin rooms (non smoking). 2 rooms were on 6th floor and we were given one on the highest floor which was smoking room. It was very clear that the room provided wasnt maintained well as it was filth. Second complaint is that i got charged for a no show at the hotel, even thou we paid cash at check in and paid extra to check out late. I have sent a complaint to hotel but such incompetant staff cannot resolve situation and they refuse to help. This hotel is ideal if ur happy to stay in a below par hotel just for a hour or two and are happy to get ripped off. I will never stay in any brittania hotels again.
A hotel in a good central position: a stroll away from eateries, shops, and a delightful late night opening cafe called 'Heavenly Desserts'. Highly recommended..the cafe, not the hotel:( The twin room was spacious. A free standing heater was provided, as were basic tea/coffee facilities, plus bottled water and glasses, which was a nice touch. Comfortable beds. However, the room was extremely dusty, and there was awful stains of something sauce-like on bathroom ceiling and across the walls, even around the freshly laundered towels. (Removable) Corridor area wrecked of cigarette smoke. Reception area was tired looking, unwelcoming and very cold- both temperature and atmospherically. We arrived very late and did not use the other facilities. Cannot comment on breakfast as did not partake. This hotel could be great value for money if attention was paid to cleanliness, the welcome, and customer satisfaction. (I've since seen many reviews commenting on lack of cleanliness, which begs the question, is customer satisfaction a priority??) I would not choose to stay here again unless improvements were made as my stay was far from comfortable.
We stayed here on Saturday 13th Jan 2018 and had reserved a twin room. I have frequented several of the Britannia hotels and had always found them reasonably priced and of ok quality. This however was not. Although reasonably priced, it certainly wasn’t of the quality I expected. On arrival the staff were polite and friendly. Payment was asked for up front (which was not how it was advertised online). However, without mentioning it I paid upfront. On arrival to our room we found it to be compact but clean. The bathroom however was not! We were greeted to a blocked toilet which can only be described as filthy, disgusting and sickening. The toilet flush failed to work and so the previous occupant’s contents remained! I photographed it and went back to reception. They apologised and moved us to the ninth floor. Here the toilet flushed! What was more concerning was the clientele which were entering the building on our return from our night out. Not to sound up my own but what seemed like only homeless and indeed sex workers were loitering in the foyer before coming and going up and down in the lift for the next hour. A small group of lads staying at the hotel were smoking at the front door and while all this was taking place there was absolutely no staff in sight, either behind the desk or indeed in the form of security. The front door and lift was accessible to all and posed a serious security threat. In the morning the shower pressure was so weak I had to rest my head on the wall. Thank god we didn’t book breakfast too. On a positive note – great city centre location
Didn’t end up staying here so can’t comment on the actual hotel, booked through booking.com for saturday 6th jan (free cancellation up until 12noon sat 6th, changed mind, couldn’t cancel through booking.com app crashed, called hotel Friday 10.30am to cancel, told all ok, checked yesterday charged £50 no show to credit card, rang various times to be lied and fobbed off too, regardless of the fact I HAD cancelled and have proof of this in my call logs, very doubtful the rooms would have been full judging by bad reviews so don’t see why they have taken my £50!
