Fantastic Hotel!!! This hotel was top notch from making reservations with Jennifer at the front desk who is the ultimate best hotel of the year employee, to house keeping staff who was more than pleasant and accommodating. Jennifer went out of her way to help me with reservations after I called repeatedly and no one answered in reservations. This meant a lot to me to receive personal service. The breakfast was nice and the service was good and the hotel was always clean and the staff was always pleasant to us. We felt so welcomed while we were here dealing with a very depressing family situation. We appreciate the Marriott making our stay a little better by providing very nice suites at a reasonable price in a great location. I ordered a package from Amazon and advised the front desk to be on the look out and they were diligent about contacting me the minute the package arrived. This is great hotel service! We will definitely be staying at this property next time we are back in town from Louisiana because we know we will be treated like Home away from home. Thank you for a great hotel experience. We will be back! And we will use Marriott in the future!

The good and the bad. Arrived to check in. No one behind desk. A sign out said 'Gone Momentarily'. That was the theme of our one-night stay. Always greeted by that sign whenever we passed the desk coming and going. Staff apparently prefers to hang out in the back. And of course no bell toa ring to have someone come. Website said pool area had a whirlpool. I even saw a picture of it online when booking. No, there's not, Future Guests. Hand-made sign on seriously hand-smudged glass door to pool said " Hot Tub Permanently Closed." When discrepancy was pointed out to front desk staff person between website and reality, he informed me that "Marriott doesn't allow us to take that amenity off our website until it's filled in." He just looked at me when I expressed incredulousness. He said the hot tub was too costly to maintain so out it goes. Apparently they don't care about providing their guests that amenity. I peeked into pool area. It was sloppy and gross. Wet used towels on a table, chairs, and floor. Large crumbs and dirty napkins on a table. Tables askew. Chairs in total disarray. Could have been cleaned up and made presentable easily, but no one apparently felt like it. Hot tub still had some water in it. All I could think is what apathy. No pride in their their presentation to guests. I felt embarrassed for this Residence Inn. And would never enter that pool, which we had looked forward to prior to being grossed out by the mess. Hall ways were unvacuumed. Crumbs and other debris in the hallways and stairwells. Keys didn't work initially; front desk person said he'd let maintenence know. Also had to get room changed as inital room reeked of sickening burnt coffee that airing out wouldn't help. The elevator grated and groaned scarily morning we were leaving. Note to myself: do not use again. The two bedroom suite we finally booked in: Actually rooms were overall quite nice. But room walls were dirty; dirty around switchplates and other places people might touch. Rest of room was clean and beds and bedding were comfortable. Carpet also looked nice and new in the room. Breakfast was good and dining attendant was attentive. No complaints there. You'd think if there was an auditor coming, they'd make more of an effort to make their open areas of their hotel presentable (and welcoming to guests.) So on checking out the next morning, I wanted a receipt. Was at the desk at 9:05. Only THE SIGN that said staff person would be back shortly was there. Waited 10 min. Finally asked dining person to check the back area. She went and looked and said no one was in the back. I just wanted a receipt which she couldn't provide. Eventually two addiitonal women showed up from the back area who also didn't know how to work the computer to give me a receipt. Was told they'd email it. I said no, I want to see it before I leave. Why doesn't front desk staff person carry a phone so she's gone so she can be reached for basic customer service needs which apparently only she can provide? Finally after 20 minutes the front desk person showed up and I said I've been waiting 20 min to check out. Her immediate excuse for leaving the front desk unattended was "we're preparing for an audit." I said "How ironic." How rich is that. They care more about looking good for an audit when their customer service you'd think would be their priority. Well evidentally it's not. And this hotel has so much potential, it's sad. I'd suggest putting in a new hot tub for your guests. Leave your front desk staff with a bottle of windex (if housekeeping gone for the day) and have someone check the pool area every hour for mess.Just show some pride in your facility and show some caring for your guest experience. Cross train your staff to be able to run off a receipt. GET RID of that sign that says will be back momentarily. Have someone sit at the front desk during check-in and check- out hours. I have no experience in the hospitality industry so your hotel may scoff at my suggestions. But I'm telling you what your lowly guest notices and wants. I don't know what was being audited there--hopefully just their books and not their customer service. With the hot tub expensve gone and their apparently minimal staffing, they should be good.

My wife and I, and her brother and wife, stayed here for St. Patrick's Day/ their honeymoon. We wanted three things in a hotel: bar, pool, and breakfast. Breakfast was good, typical hotel breakfast with waffles, eggs, and sausage. Pool was fun for a little bit until a barrage of screaming kids came in, which we understood. Asked if there was an adult swim time and there wasn't. Might I suggest closing the pool to kids from 10-11pm so adults can enjoy that time. The biggest blunder was the lack of restaurant/bar in the restaurant, and by lack of I mean non-existent. There was a bar in the courtyard hotel next door and if I knew that I would have booked there instead. Might I suggest that to avoid confusion for people looking forward to having a few before stumbling back to their room, remove the bar/restaurant amenity from your website.

Whatever you do do not stay at this hotel. Booked and paid in advance for two rooms. Booked three weeks in advance. The night before we were to check in I was notified that my room was cancelled and I no longer had rooms at the hotel. No mention of a refund. They booked another room for us at a cheaper, lower quality hotel. NO REFUND! This us apparently the way they treat guests that book through Hotels.com or Expedia. Terrible service. Terrible policy. STAY AWAY FROM MARRIOT HOTELS!

Stayed here for business. The hotel is very clean and well kept but the unfortunately is located in a rougher part of town than I expected. I would not consider this a “Chicago area” hotel. Front desk was nice and had an efficient check in/out process. Room was enormous however similar to an apartment style hotel. I would stay there again but my purposes are for visiting Frankfort Illinois not Chicago Illinois. Breakfast was included and it was good.

This was a less than adequate experience for this brief, 1-night stay. Room: The carpet in the first 2-bedroom suite was filthy. Obvious stains in the living room and a huge, big one right in front of the bed in the bedroom. I returned to the desk, and asked the young lady if anyone had actually LOOKED at the carpet since the room had been refreshed by housekeeping. The response was that someone should have noted the badly stained carpet. I was moved to another unit and the carpet in the second 2-bedroom suite had some minor stains; though, not uncommon with routine wear and tear. The bathrooms appeared clean with threadbare towels. The bed was too soft for me. Like a recent stay at another Residence Inn, I often had to use my hand sanitizer during this stay. The doors in the room (and hallways) were clearly dirty. A simple wipe with a cleaning cloth would do the trick, but it’s the type of grim that accumulates and if no one is paying attention, it becomes worse over time. Near the elevator there was a door marked “Linen Closet;” same obvious grim. Gross. In fact, I noticed most of the other hotel room doors leading to my room location were dirty. As if they see it, but don’t see it. In the living space of the suite, right before you enter the bedroom, there was a brown stain on the wall; same for the wall immediately next to the entry door. I reached to get a utensil and noticed remnants of food on the “clean” fork. After that, I washed all utensils, plates, and cups before I used them. The one bright spot: Wi-fi worked so that was fine. I was in the hotel less than 24 hrs so it served its purpose. By dawn’s early light, I was gone so I can’t comment on breakfast. Not sure why this place is called “Residence Inn Chicago Southeast.” Most likely it must do with branding since the hotel is in Indiana and, really, nowhere near Chicago. You’ll disappoint yourself if you’re looking for an inexpensive place outside of Chicago. You’ll be even more disappointed by the general condition of the hotel and the room.

It's part of Marriot so you know you cant be wrong, its a nice clean and quiet hotel 30 minutes away from the beam, includes a large parking, wifi! and complementary breakfast, the rooms are quite comfortable and the service was very good

Clean, comfortable rooms and the staff is amazing!! Jennifer, Sabrina, April and Isabel are incredible! Give these girls a raise! They always go above and beyond to make sure your stay is wonderful! Always there to help when you need it

Residence Inn – Hammond is a great place to stay for the business traveler in Northern Indiana. The hotel is conveniently located by Interstate 80/94 just 3 miles from Illinois border. There are multiple restaurants in the area on Kennedy, Indianapolis Blvd, and Calumet exits. The studio queen room has been my preference with great open space, kitchen and a large work desk. The staff has been outstanding!! They are all friendly and welcoming. The Tuesday Mix crew helps make the evening very enjoyable. Thanks to Jacklyn, April, Jorge and Amara. The breakfast buffet is a great way to start the day – excellently prepared and good variety. The front desk staff always greets with smiles and makes the check-in or check-out easy. Thanks to Jennifer, Sabrina, Cortney, Art and Stan. Overall, the hotel and staff make my regular trips into the area pleasant and welcoming. For me, they provide a great home away from home.

I stayed here for about a week. Upon arrival I was greeted by Amara who was super professional and helpful. She Genuinely enjoys her job and it shows. And since that arrival she's been continuously helpful, courteous and friendly every time we crossed paths. On the evening of the social, April also helped out with great customer service regarding local travel, attractions etc. very friendly and professional. Both Amara and April as well as the other folks at the hotel were all nothing less than just fantastic. The room was also great, comfortable, very well managed/cleaned. The breakfasts were great and healthy. The gym was great and clean. And the evening socials with burgers and desserts were great as well. I would stay here again without hesitation.
