Crowne Plaza Old Town Alexandria

3.5 out of 5.0

Recent guest reviews

Staff were amazing and helpful. Good view of water but the room was like a motel - no refrigerator or microwave, and slightly dingy and dark colors. There was a shuttle to airport but distance and mediocrity of the room was disappointing.

The hotel is perfectly situated to provide some privacy from the hustle of Old town Alexandria, yet still close enough to walk into town. It is a very short walk to the parks along the Potomac as well. The facility is nice and up-to-date and I had a room with a view of the river...a plus. The front desk staff was very friendly and professional. The only problem I had was with housekeeping one day, when my room was still not cleaned when I returned in the afternoon. I let the front desk staff know, but then after another hour it was still not cleaned and I had to call them again, which produced instant results. Overall, a good experience and I would stay there again.

Nice hotel close to the old town reasonably priced. Rooms are clean with good space. Classic 3* hotel.

We had a room overlooking the Potomac and could see the Capital from our window. It was easy to get to the sites we came to visit, Mount Vernon, Arlington Cemetary, and the Smithsonian without a lot of traffic. The hotel restaurant and bar were both great.

Just a basic hotel room, no pool, no hot tub, but if you need a place to stay this one is close enough to all of the good restaurants in Old Town.

I will give my only negative review first - no free breakfast provided at hotel. This is not a huge factor, but it can add to the cost of your trip. Our overall stay was excellent. They provide a free shuttle to the Reagan airport and also to the street where most of the shops and restaurants are located. The rooms were clean and comfortable. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others!

Excellent hotel in quiet neighborhood with water view. Got King bed on 8th floor. Big frig, sm microwave, coffee maker w. pack ea. reg & decaf coffee and 2 Lipton tea bags. Clean fresh linen. $20 per night parking fee. Shuttle to airport on the hr. Only afternoon shuttle to Old town or free trolley to Metro station. Nice walk though on water front parks. Wish the Water Taxi was running on week days for National mall for cherry blossom--only on weekends.

Good experience. Very friendly staff. Comfortable bed.

Lovely room overseeing park and cityscape. River view costs more and might be a better choice. On street parking free on Saturday evenings and Sunday. Shuttle was very convenient.

It had everything that we needed for a night on a long drive home except free parking. A $20.00 bill for off street parking for less than 12 hours is excessive when it's unexpected. There was also the usual rigamarole over Free WiFi. It was another $10.00 unless I joined their rewards program by having me agree to let them send me emails. This was not my expectation. Breakfast, of course, was NOT included with my room rate...

The room was nice and the shuttle was definitely an advantage over other hotels. Our only problem was that we had noisy neighbors and there was not much sound barrier between the rooms.

The hotel room was clean, but the walls seem to be extremely thin. I could hear people talking, walking, running water day and night. Breakfast was okay. My biggest complaint is that even though I had the 'do not disturb' sign on the door housekeeping walked right in - WITHOUT KNOCKING! Do NOT enter my room when the sign is on the door.... that is unacceptable.

The hotel left a lot to be desired for a crowne plaza, felt dated. Also, the line to check-in was horrible on New Years Eve. They definitely needed more staff to move the line along. The location is ok (7 or so blocks to King's St) and the stay was average. I would recommend other hotels if you're staying for the Alexandria shopping/dining experience.

We stayed at this hotel to experience the DC area after a friend's wedding. The staff was extremely friendly and everything was clean. Using the off site pool was fairly easy but I wish they had their own. We did not use the bike borrow they have available but it looked super easy and they provide a helmet and lock too. It is a decent walk to downtown Alexandria but we loved spending time there. The hotel is not convenient to a metro stop but the free shuttle to the airport which does have a metro stop made it very easy to access the Metro and we only had to walk the mile from the closest stop once. The restaurant at the hotel was alright and the only food there I would suggest was the grilled wings but they do come naked with dipping sauces so be prepared for that. Overall a wonderful stay for the price and I would go back and recommend to a friend.

Great location, close to Old Town. I come for business all the time. Walking distance to many restaurants and stores. Normally stay here when I am in Alexandria, clean hotel and good cost for location.

Hotel has a wonderful location right on the Potomac. Several good restaurants are within less than a block. Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was clean and bed comfortable. Heating/air conditioning system needs an upgrade! Either freezing or hot. Took 5 full minutes for water to get hot. Sometimes water pressure dropped severely. Restaurant is a bust. No service. Meeting troom facilities were very nice and well run. Temp pretty comfortable. Would stay here again if the price was right.

We enjoyed our trip and the hotel accommodations very much. Already told family and friends about this wonderful hotel and the helpfulness of the staff. The room was spacious, clean, and a beautiful view from the seventh floor. The only thing lacking was a micro wave.

Great free shuttle service to airport and King Street. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Room was clean and comfy with a great view. Can't wait to visit again.

The facilities were ok, but the staff was kind of rude and in the morning when I had to leave early there wasn't any hot water.

This hotel has friendly staff, clean and comfortable rooms, and a nice fitness center. The complimentary shuttle service is also great. I highly recommend!
