I stay in this hotel for 1 night and trust me that I can't realised what happened! My key will open other doors, my room is 139 and with my key my friends opened their rooms! Finally, I had a "key pass" like housekeeper! It's absurd! The restaurant is not good, meat dry and very small! Any facilities! The credit card doesn't work but in other reviews people write that it does not work from 2016! I can't believe it! The hall was dirty and dusty and a bad smell like TRASH on elevator is terrible!! I think that I can't tell other words for explain my day! My God

Very rarely I give a bad review, it takes a lot in order for me to dislike a place but the experience we had at the hotel Valgrande was absolutely appalling. We called in December to book the hammam as our friend was going to get married soon and we wanted to spend a nice day in the hotel spa. At no point we were told the hotel was closed during the winter months, the receptionist took our reservation happily and we paid half of the requested price (40 euros each, we were ten) in advance. Once we arrived there we noticed the hotel was extremely cold and we discovered that the structure was closed. If we would have known in advance we would have booked elsewhere. We were taken to the changing room, where we were told we would have been the only guests: this was cold, and badly lit, the lockers were all closed and we had to leave all our belongings on the floor. Not wanting to spoil the day for our friend, we decided not to comment at that point. The lady who showed us the hammam came there wearing a sweather and a hot scarf (while all of us were in bikinis...), and once we entered the hammam we were freezing! The thermostat stated 17 degrees Celsius in the "relax area", we asked her multiple times if it was possible to raise the temperature and we were answered she would try. She then proceed to show us the two hot rooms (at least those were working) and the hydro pool, that was filled with freezing water: she recommended to stay there 2 minutes and, for those of us who couldn't enter because the water was too cold, she would have performed a hand massage. We then spent the rest of the time only in the two hot rooms as the relaxing area and hydro pool were off limits because of the cold. She performed gommage on all of us, while we were lying on a wet and cold table (horrible considering the cold water under us and the fact she used the same glove for all of us...), another unpleasant experience. Once we couldn't resist any longer, we sent our soon to be married friend away and we went to complain to the receptionist. This was not the service that had been promised to us and definitely was not a relaxing and pleasant experience. She told us she was sorry we felt that way, that she personally opened the hammam that morning for us (probably it needed a couple of days to warm up in my opinion) and that was the package they offer all of their guests. It needs to be said that a few of us had already used their hammam before, and it had never been cold, including the pool where usually people can stay there more than a couple of minutes. When we told her that the other employee was also wearing winter clothes in the hammam because of the temperature she could only keep repeating that she was sorry but there was nothing she was able to do for us. After complaining with her for half an hour, and not being able to come to a solution, we asked to pay by card, at which point she told us this was not possible as the structure was closed and only cash payments were accepted. Considering that if a structure is closed for business it shouldn't accept bookings and take payments, we asked her either to switch the pos on or to contact a manager. She declined multiple times to do either, and only after further complaining and the possibility for us to call the "guardia di finanza" (police), she called one of the managers of the hotel. This person also refused to understand the package they offered us was not up to the standards promised. At that point we were arguing for an hour and a half and we were risking to lose our reservation for dinner, so we agreed to pay less than what was expected just to be able to conclude our celebration day. Would have not been our friend day we would have called police to solve the matter. So not only the spa day was awful, the people working there and managing the hotel were totally unfriendly and not professional and it was very difficult to deal with them. Please avoid this structure unless you want bad customer care and a poor experience. I used to have my in laws sleeping there when they were visiting us but this is not worth it. There are many spas and thermal structures in the area that deliver a far better service. They thought they were having to deal with a bunch of stupid girls instead they found they were dealing with 10 local women who will do everything they can not to recommend this place.

My girlfriend and I went for a night at Valgrande Hotel with a Wonderbox card. Many positive aspects: our room, free bike rental, and good service. However I have to point out some negative ones: the hydromassage and the pool were either too hot or cold (and we were disappointed, as they had been decisive in choosing the hotel) and I think the breakfast was poor

I never in my life been in a place like that... Really bad! No good food, no fresh breakfast not clean, no cards accepted, not enough employees... Paint falling off from the walls, garden not taken care, humidity on the walls, spiders everywhere, the garage is dirty, looks like abandoned building and it even has an abandoned car inside.

I went two weeks ago ti this hotel with my lady. We planned to stay by the lake but looking through the web, we found Valgrande. The price was ok. Huge and cleaned room number 165! The indoor pool was nice and breakfast ok! Very good buffet! Unfortunatly we couldn't use the SPA But in case for next time we'll organize better. Staff VERY friendly and gentle. Wish to come back next year.

The rooms at this hotel are some of the largest around. But there was not much else to shout about. From the moment I turned on the lights to my room, I knew I was in for a strange experience. The "hum" of the lights was so loud, I had to turn them off to hear the TV. The rooms are clean. But the business traveler should be warned: there is NO wifi in the hotel rooms. Only the lobby.

Having reviewed a previous customer's 'terrible' rated review just now, I wish I had done so sooner and I have to agree completely with what has been said. I visited the restaurant and was thoroughly disappointed: service only of a mediocre set menu from 7.30pm, you are either there or you don't eat. If you ask for something different (eg to eat a bit later) the staff is very rude, basically telling you to go somewhere else as they have enough to do already.

This hotel is a little strange. There is the normal hotel and then there is the motel that is attached to it. We stayed in the hotel. Our room was very large with some nice features but also some that could be improved. In the bathroom for example, the sink was brand new in glass - very nice. But the bath had mold on the joints and the shower head was falling down. The television screen is very small and looked more like a PC screen. The bed was comfortable. There was no wifi in the hotel which is surprising in 2014. The hotel has an indoor swimming pool and a roof terrace. The dining room is very large but the tables were far apart and very few people. The breakfast buffet was "OK". There is a large underground parking which was almost empty as well; to go from the parking to the hotel we had to go through a basement that smelled moist. The hotel is 40 mins away from Lago Magiore and on the outskirts of the little town of Vogogna. What kind of crowd are they targeting with such an hotel and which so much space ??

Sold as a luxury 4 Star Spa Hotel by Lago Maggiore, it is actually a large, soulless motel, 40 minutes drive from Stresa, situated in the middle of an industrial park in the valley with charming views of the motorway. We booked a deluxe room which turned out to be the world's largest and most depressing motel room, in a dark brown color scheme. The walls are thin and all noise from neighbouring rooms can be heard (from the opening of a safe to TV and conversations). The shower was mouldy, the shower curtain old and smelly, the bedding stained, the AC was dripping and the room was everything, but a 4 Star (Spa) hotel. During our more than one week stay in the Valgrande, the breakfast was the same every day, consisting of stale bread rolls, canned fruit, yoghurt, stale cereal, cake and boiled eggs. The swimming pool, located right next to the restaurant/breakfast hall, can only be used with a swimming cap. The sun deck overlooks the motorway and surrounding industrial estate and it is not somewhere you would want to sit, unless you enjoy the smell of fumes and feeling depressed. We ordered room service one night and it turned out - when paying up when we left - that the tax for the pizza that was added to our bill was more than the pizza itself. So add on double the charge for everything I guess. You need a car to stay here since the hotel is about 40 minutes from anywhere - it is clearly a place for buses to stop off, leaving the motorway, for one night, not more. For that, all pretence of being a 4 star luxury hotel out of the window, it would be fine. The staff themselves were helpful - they provided a driver to take us into Stresa, but we had to be back, waiting to be picked up at 4.30pm. So back to the big brown hotel room for the evening. Walking round Stresa and the lake was beautiful but depressing also as we saw all these amazing, beautiful hotels which clearly were 4 stars and we could have afforded for the same price. To summarise - if you're running out of petrol and driving from point A to point B, this is a place to stop off for the night, but its hard to holiday in this hotel/giant motel.

Just came back from a nice holiday in the lake maggiore with my family. Searching out in google i found out this unespected hotel! Nice design, nice staff....rooms are huge and comfortable!!! my daugheter had fun plying with a nice little dog ....Priccilla...something like this. We love Jacks!!! Before booking i got infos about this hotel and actually it is not direclty on the lake! not in such a shocking position...but must say that from this strategic point, we had the opportunity to visit many sites! Waterfalls, 100 valleys, Macugnaga on the pinky mountain and in a few minutes by car, also Stresa......borromee islands were beautiful. Just take the car and you'll enjoy it. in the hotel everything was clean, and almost new, very professional staff and very kind with everyone. My wife decided to spend some time in the hammam and got a nice promotional massage only 30€ ....45 bucks is nothing for a massage! Now we are travelling to venice and hope to find a place like Valgrande hotel.... thanks to all and thanks a lot to the CHEF.....those gnocchy were absolutly perfect! Tampa Us is far away...but we can try to come sometime in the future!
