Extremely disappointed.... has not been upgraded since our last stay which we believe was more than twenty years ago. The room was very badly in need of a renovation and the position of the lights outside which were on until around midnight made the room very uncomfortable, all exacerbated by the fact there is no air conditioning, and Dimples so noisy it was unusable.
Beautiful welcoming entry into the Hotel, Check in was pleasant and insightive, Very clean and comfortable room, put off was a noisy portable type air conditioner, better than having an extremely hot room though, managed by turning unit off when time to sleep, Televisions need an upgrade, but otherwise very happy with the Hotel, Check out and overall reception staff fantastic..
Hotel is good, rooms are very well equipped, also with additional toiletries. Location of the hotel is also optimal to walk around in the city. Some excellent cafes are close! Walls are a little bit thin and some idiots on the floor woke us up in the middle of the night ...
Comfortable large hotel in central Launceston. Nice room but a portable aircon unit sitting in the corner was noisy. Hotel convenient to local restaurants. Tasty breakfast included in our tariff. $6 charge to use unsecured carpark.
I enjoyed a really comfortable stay at this hotel. It's in a great location and the rooms and services were excellent. Fantastic beds & linen - I had a great nights sleep. I would have no hesitation in staying here again.
Really nice to stay in an old style hotel with a grat lobby to have a quiet drink and a read...rooms pretty good recently renovated..need to ditch the old TV's though. Great spot as the location is near markets a parks.
Had a lovely stay at the Grand Chancellor nice rooms, twin rooms have 2 double beds which is nice Very close to everything you can park and walk to city centre shops or out to a restaurant for dinner. Breakfast was all you could want
This hotel is located in a fantastic spot; has comfortable and good sized room with a nice view of Launceston. The style of the room is pretty dated and probably needs a face lift. As we stayed an unexpected extra night in Launceston we were looking forward to freshing up in the hotel room but we're unable as there was no standard shampoo/conditioner or body wash left in the rooms. I was going to let all of this slide until check out this morning (5/2) from room 2014... it took us 20 minutes to check out at 6am!! I specifically asked the employee to charge the card master card I made the reservation with MULTIPLE times but he proceeded to use the visa card they took a copy of, in case of mini bar usage. When this first happened, his response was "oh well it's been charged" and I requested the money be returned to my card straight away and a refund transaction took place and our other card was used to pay. However, the refund has not yet gone through and now we are stuck with no money (our account is in the negative) until this happens with two cards being charged to this hotel. I tried to call up to speak with the manager and I got put on hold and staff were rude. I'm very not happy at all. None of this would have happened if your staff listened to me in the first instance.
We stayed here for a night. The hotel room was spacious, good enough to fit all out luggage. The bathroom had everything we needed including basic toiletry and towels. The hotel is also located in city center. No free parking available and hence you might need to go around to find a free spot. One thing to point out was we also stayed in Grand Chancellor Hobart and the hotel in Launceston looked ways older. Overall it was still a comfortable stay.
The location of the hotel was excellent, close to the city centre for shopping. The only negative is that the hotel does not own the car park next to the hotel and thus if you have a car, you may not get a car park. This is very annoying as otherwise you would be feeding a metre until mid night. We had this problem recently, but was able to get a staff car park upon expressing our dissapointment as we notified the hotel that we required a car park.
