Expected so much more from a hotel that calls itself grand. Walked in late afternoon looking for a room after a last minute business related trip. Had seen a particular room on Hotels.com, "Deluxe Twin Toom" and thought that will do for the night, however this room type was "not available" so had to go for the next room type up (more expensive) - and Hotels.com showed this room type available for the rest of the night....problem with keeping their availability current? Got checked in, no information provided about restaurants or breakfast or local area provided - so dined elsewhere Wifi - $24.95 for $24 hours?!?!?!?!?! in a CBD - in Australia - in 2017? You've got to be kidding me! Room ok, nothing superior about it. Checked out pretty early, 7.30am-ish, no questions about my stay, no chance for feedback. Overall no one really seemed interested except to take our money. As a now regular traveller to Launceston, this hotel is definitely OFF the list. A total missed opportunity by the hotel.
The Grand Chancellor Launceston is close to the CBD and provides the facilities to have an enjoyable couple of nights away near to shops, eating places and attractions. The hotel restaurant provided a quality buffet breakfast and a delicious "winter special" dinner. The only disappointment was the lack of electric blanket on the bed, considering Launceston's winter weather!
Booked on line for an urgent trip to Launceston, rate was inexpensive and I know why. Room was clean and comfortable, but right outside the window was the hotel air conditioning, runs all night and is very noisy. Hotel lobby area welcoming, the bar could do with a refurbishment as is in the middle of the lobby. You get what you pay for , just be aware the on-line cheaper rooms will most likely be on floor 1 accompanying the air conditioners.
Central location to the city. Spacious rooms. The bathroom just needs a little work. Very friendly check in staff, maybe just need to tell people where the lifts are as a couple were wondering around not knowing where to go.
Went for lunch last week. We were the only people in the restaurant, just as well as only one staff member to serve. Meal was very, very average. We did not have desert or coffee as no service so we will not be going back any time soon. Maybe it is better in the evening.
First impression was that the hotel was tired especially in the lobby with a non functioning fountain, faded pictures on the walls and paint peeling off the back doors to the shopping center. The modernized bathroom was nice except the show water splashed out onto the bathroom floor flooding the shower mat. The lighting in the bedroom was dull. The bed lights were hard to turn on or off. The TV was small and we could not get SBS1. The heating was difficult to find. I had to read the hotel manual to find the switch. It was nice and warm but noisy. Breakfast and Dinners were great. Pity you only had one dinner special. Staff were great.
We stayed overnight in a deluxe room and found it very clean and comfortable. It was very quiet and staff were very attentive. It is close to shopping centre. I would recommend this hotel to friends. We enjoyed an excellent in the restaurant and staff were very friendly.

We had a great stay at Launceston's Grand Chancellor Hotel. Excellent value with a full hot breakfast, free parking and complimentary drinks on arrival. We can recommend this stay to all persons wanting quality accommodation in a central location within the Launceston city area
Great location to the city and shops. A short walk to the brewery and other town attractions. Room was clean and tidy. Spacious room for a couple or small family. Staff all helpful and friendly. Was a short stay but would stay here again if needed.
