We are purchasing a new build house that has been delayed for 4 weeks, so we have been staying in The Marriott in Northampton. The stay has been fabulous. The catering and events Manager, Louise, was exceptional, her whole team couldn’t do enough for us. The food is delicious, of great quality and varied. The room was very comfortable and pristine. The reception team were also very attentive, friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this hotel and look forward to returning.
Couldn’t fault the room it was spacious and comfortable with a little one also! Only issue is that they lost the key for the patio which was frustrating as for once the weather was perfect in the uk! Breakfast was a typical buffet with nothing to jump out at you.
This is not what you would typically expect from a Marriott property. It was very basic in terms of decor and facilities. Again they had no Executive langue which is normally a massive benefit for Marriott Elite Members. The sports facilities are also basic. The restaurant was excellent and had a great breakfast selection. This is a good functional hotel but nothing special..
We had a superb two night break here at the weekend. The staff are all welcoming and really friendly, nothing is too much trouble for anyone. Our room was spacious, really clean and overlooked a huge grassed area where a flock of Canadian Geese spent the day eating - lovely to watch even though they were a bit noisy in the mornings. Breakfast was good and chef was happy to prepare different things like boiled or poached eggs instead of the fried or scrambled that were already available. We enjoyed the sauna, Jacuzzi, pool etc. in the afternoons and had the places more or less to ourselves - very nice. Reasonable rates and free parking makes this one of the best value for money Marriotts in the UK.
Nothing special. Same as everywhere. Rooms clean. Breakfast could be improved. Friendly stuff. Function rooms spacey. Equipment should be modernized. Nothing else to say. Dinner menu same as in all other Marriotts.
I stay in a lot of Marriotts around the world and have previously held their highest membership status a number of years ago. You expect quality with this hotel but unfortunately the one in Northampton is the worst I’ve ever stayed in. Using some membership points we stayed here for a friends wedding. We paid extra to stay is a “super deluxe” room with a slightly bigger bed and more space. The room was terrible. It needed a refresh probably 5 years ago, looking at the peeling wallpaper broken taps and horrible carpets. They had retrofitted a replacement air conditioning unit which was awful. Couldn’t cool the very very hot room and was so loud you couldn’t sleep with it on. Sleeping was out of the window anyway as the bed was shockingly bad. Two singles joined together and mattresses that were simply awful. As we knew it would be a late night we left the “do not disturb” sign in the outside of the door. This didn’t stop the cleaning staff having a meeting outside our bedroom door at 07:10 as loudly as they possibly could. I guess that guests are not important? Absolutely no respect. The most bitter pill to swallow was the bar prices. A glass of wine and small bottle of cider was £14. £14!!!!!! It’s like central London bar prices. Will never stay here again, truly awful experience which was supposed to be an enjoyable night away. What I will get now is a reply from the hotel saying the usual rubbish. “We expect high standards sorry we didn’t meet them, will investigate, terrible, guests are important blah blah blah”. Nothing will change. Don’t stay here.
I turned up at midnight to check into my room that I had booked a couple weeks earlier only to find out that they had no rooms left! I then had to wait for over an hour for them to ring round other hotels to try find me a room for the night! Eventually they booked me a room at a 2 star hotel in the town which the hotel paid for. But the Marriott guy told me they had a car park at this other hotel which it turned out they didn’t so I ended up having to find a nearby public car park. In the end it was almost 2am before I got to the other hotel room. At first I was told that this was a computer problem that they had, but they seemed to have all my details just fine. In the end I found out that this chain of hotel actually have a policy of over booking their hotel rooms, which I may not have had a room even if I had turned up earlier as they would most likely of prioritized people that are more regular Marriott customers over me. For me this is totally unacceptable for the hotel to overbook their rooms and the inconvenience and stress caused of wondering whether I was going to have to spend the night in my car, out weighs the bottle of wine or the $12.50 worth of points that they gave me. This problem also meant that I was exhausted the next day for my business meeting and ruined my stay.
We booked here for two nights at Easter with the intention of just relaxing and reflecting. Check in was quick and friendly and the room was clean with very comfortable beds. We made full use of the complimentary access to the leisure facilities (heated indoor pool, sauna and steam room), however due to a fault the hot tub was not working. The bar and restaurant had good quality food at breakfast and dinner (the Cast Iron bar had a set menu option which was quite reasonably priced too). Taxi from the railway station cost about £12 which seemed a bit steep (only cost about £7 to get back on the Sunday strangely!). Overall, a very nice hotel to relax at, well away from the town centre (just off the A45, but far enough away not to get the noise).
Arrived early. Was able to check in and leave bags. Receptionist was helpful with all my questions. Room and hotel is dated however the bed was the most comfortable bed I had ever slept in. It was huge. The sofa bed for my son was also comfortable. The bathroom was spotless and the water was hot. The room was cold and I think that the heating is noisy and not great but they had left heaters in the wardrobe so all good. We had dinner at the hotel both nights. The set menu was the best meal and great value. The breakfast was fantastic. My husband and son used the pool. Everything that is important, the bed, bathroom and food was excellent. The staff are great too. I normally never stay the same place twice but would make an exception.
I enjoyed my return to this hotel for a social event. The reception was well staffed when I arrived just after 3pm and check in was seamless. My room was good overall though there was a plumbing issue which I resolved myself rather than complaining and risk being moved to another room after I had unpacked everything. The evening event went very well, the catering was fairly good and all the staff performed well. I was impressed with the breakfast service, a very good selection being on offer. On departure the receptionist was excellent. I will be very happy to come again.
