This is a massive hotel, hosting several groups, including whilst we were there, golfers, religious groups, National Health and Police conferences all on the same weekend. The golf course is excellent - interesting tree - lined holes with (for me) very narrow fairways. The staff were unfailingly helpful and affable, often pointing us in the right direction having got lost in the maize of corridors. Breakfast was very good, especially considering the sheer number of people being catered for. My only criticism concerns our arrival. I hope they take this as a point of development: The receptionist will never know what kind of day I'm having, the purpose of my visit, or if she can help with any local knowledge - because she didn't ask. I'm not a lover of the over - the - top American approach. But come on - a smile costs nothing.

lovely spa area great views.look on line for deals and offers.great place to drink and eat isolated location.lots of parking.hotel is a bit dated in places.daventry is 5 mins away lovely town with free parking plenty of coffee shops.

Hotel itself great, nice surroundings, good room - comfortable and clean. Good food and service from friendly staff in the bar and restaurant too. The only problem here is the reception. Check in is advertised as being 2pm, I arrived at noon and explained to the receptionist that I was presenting at a conference in their hotel that afternoon and asked about my room, on the off chance that it might be ready early, as very often happens in most of the hotels I’ve ever visited. I was told that check in was at 2 and it was clear that absolutely no effort was going to be made to see if there was a room available so that I could check in early. I went back to reception at ten past 2 to be told by the same member of staff that my room wasn’t ready, that room preparation continues until 4pm and to try again then. I again explained that I was presenting at the conference and could do with getting access to a room before then, the answer was to try in about an hour. Not good service from a very unhelpful and disinterested member of staff, unfortunate really as every other aspect of this hotel was very good and the conference and overnight stay was great in every other way.

Paid £68 for a deluxe room (101) mid week, and quite frankly it was an absolute bargain. The room was very large, nicely decorated and perfectly clean. The service in the sports bar area was excellent, the food was basic but hit the spot. Booked using the applause scheme, which guarantees the best room rate by booking direct and paying on arrival. The price for a deluxe room cost less than the local premier inn and offers superb value. After reading some of the reviews I was unsure what to expect, this was a nice surprise.

I was really worried about staying here. The reviews had led me to believe it was the kind of hotel best avoided. Had it not been for a nearby wedding we would have avoided it. In fact, it turned out fine. I'd preemptively flagged a few concerns to the management and they responded positively. Our room keys were all waiting when we arrived (after midnight). The check in was painless and the staff helpful and polite. The room was surprisingly spacious, well designed and clean. The recently refurbished bathroom was spotless. The buffet breakfast was fine with decent sausages - always a good barometer of whether a property is penny-pinching.

I read the mixed reviews on the place and I could see that it was a big place but we got amazing deal. I was surprised how busy it was but the staff were lovely. They informed us on how busy it was and what were the best times to use the bar/restaurant etc. The staff work really hard here and you could see that but it is a big place with lots of groups, but if you worried about how busy it might be ring up and ask. If I wanted a romantic get away I would have gone to a small hotel

My husband and I had an accessible room booked for Friday night after our son's wedding. I am a wheelchair user so a wheelchair friendly room was needed for accessibility all round. On our arrival the reception seemed to be struggling with booking in people. When requesting our room the receptionist stated no accessible rooms available, all gone but I could look at the room they had for us. On entering the room I could hardly get through the door and then it was a sharp turn to the left for the small bathroom. There was no way I could attempt to stay in this room. All the receptionist could say was we would not have to pay for it! No apology, nothing. We then had to drive home to Bedfordshire after my son's wedding when we were supposed to be having a post wedding breakfast with all the other wedding guests who had booked. I am still waiting for a call from the manager who apparently was not on duty until today. It is now 2.40 p.m. still no call. Very unhappy with this situation.

Just got back from a conference. Rooms good and clean! Food was really nice but there was a few strange dishes! Sit down meal service was very slow took 3 1/2 hours for a 3 course meal! Overall conference facilities were good, staff were friendly. Only thing that let it down was other rude guests not from our conference being loud and making comments about our conference. Overall I would stay here again! Thankyou! :)

We booked a double accessible room with a wet room for 2 nights, we were allocated a non disabled room with a bath! (We had rung 3 times in the previous months to ensure that we had a suitable room). Eventually given a single room with a wet room, with a camp bed, disabled people obviously not expected to be married! Second night we had a double room with a wet room, hooray! Neither room had a hairdryer, look for one before you get in the shower, takes ages for one to arrive! Then on the second day, the one very small lift broke down, we were upstairs at a conference, the food and our room were downstairs! No wheelchair could be found for us to use downstairs, the large wheelchair could not be brought downstairs. After much embarrassment managed to get downstairs, couldn't get to the restaurant so had to have food brought close to the stairs! Upstairs the doors are too narrow to get a wheelchair through, the disabled toilets are well fitted out (the one upstairs has the emergency stretcher hidden in it to get you out if the lift isn't working-not close to the stairs!) Having said all that the staff were very polite and worked hard in an environment that was obviously over booked and under staffed.

Myself and my sister were worried after reading the reviews so didn't really know what to expect. We arrived and the staff were very helpful and got our room sorted promptly. The conferencing facilities are fantastic and we were well looked after. The food was very good and there was plenty of choice. Yes there are some busy times and they could do with more staff, but what hotel couldn't do with more staff really? I popped to the leisure centre on Saturday morning only to find I arrived an hour before opening, I decided to wait and was lucky enough to have a fantastic manager let me in 40 minutes early! The staff couldn't do enough and were always courteous and couldn't do enough. Some of these reviews need to realise that for what they paid they got a lot!!
