Second stay here , very good value for money , with the quality of food being very good , room was nice with modern bathroom and good decor. Nice old school sort of place , would recommend. Comfy chair in the room would have been a good touch. What is a good touch is deicer at reception during colder months , nice touch . First class breakfast as well.

Thank you to the wainstones for another v god new year The food and the services was excellent and the staff as always The rooms where very clean and warm the internet was good Lots of Car parking And yes we booked for next year to make sure we get a room

we stayed here for christmas .beautiful building . our room was very clean and comfortable only issue was bedside lights and desk light didnt work. the staff were kind , helpful and very friendly. christmas lunch was very over priced at £88.50. just a basic sunday lunch really small starter and desert . main course only 1 pig in blanket and no roast parsnips just carrots and sprouts ... no complimentry drink quite disapointing .....

We called the Wainstones very last minute after another hotel let us down very badly. We were jet lagged with young children and nowhere to stay. Despite housekeeping being gone for the day, the assistant manager went and made us up a room. The welcome was very warm and the room lovely, with enough space for the four of us, very clean and felt like a haven after a very rough day. We do need to switch rooms as ours isn’t free all week, but we’ve just been informed the staff will do that for us. I’m blown away. Would highly recommend this hotel if you like to stay somewhere lovely, clean and welcoming.

We recently went for a wedding. Room was beautiful, large, clean and comfortable. Wonderful sleep on really nice bed However 2 people in the room - 1 x hot chocolate 1 x pack of biscuits and not quite enough tea and milk. Went down to reception and the clarified this and changed the biscuits as the one pack we had my husband couldn’t eat. Problem came next day. Following a really nice breakfast went back to the room serviced and the drinks tray was returned to previous unsatisfactory state including unwanted biscuits went back to reception and was told that cleaners would do that - why!!! We are staying in the same room for 2 nights no need to reduce what was in the drawer and why weren’t they told we couldn’t eat those biscuits Apart from that wonderful time, wedding in the hotel reception and evening do was fantastic

Sunday Lunch in the restaurant proved to be a very pleasing event We went with friends and enjoyed a delicious lunch served by very obliging staff An excellant choice of menu with the opportunity for senior eaters to partake of a half menu which meant they were able to eat 3courses and have room for coffee and mints. White tablecloths and cloth napkins finished off the high standard delivered A sumptuous lunch highly recommended

Just been for an overnight get away. The Staff where friendly, the room was nice and the food was good. Could do with a few more essentials i.e. hair dryer and iron and more milk. But I would reconmend it and would go back.

We have stayed at this hotel and it is old, quaint and with a spidery feel! However, we visit often for bar meals and are rarely disappointed. The food is well presented and of reasonable value. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend the meals, but the hotel rooms need a bit of a revamp.

Stayed here for a night while on our coast to coast walk. David picked us up from Clay Top Bank. When he learned my husband's glasses had been blown off his face while we were walking and lost forever in the heather he immediately arranged to drive my husband to the local optician. Alas nothing could be done but David's effort was very much appreciated. Rooms were comfortable, good wifi connection, and the restaurant was inviting. Very friendly and hard working server at breakfast.

We stayed here August Bank Holiday, we were visiting the local area NT properties at Nunnington Hall and Rivieux Terrace. We also visited Saltburn-by-the-sea. We stayed for one night and had our evening meal in the bar, we also had breakfast. The food was very good and good value for money. We paid £130 for bed, breakfast and 3 course evening meal. The room was spacious and comfortable with tea and coffee making facilities. The hotel was clean and the staff friendly and helpful,. The decor of the hotel is slightly dated typical English country style.
