We arrived at the Clifton Hotle late on good friday after a 7 hour journey from Manchester due to traffic chaos. we were soon checked in but told that no parking was available so have to park on the street. We were unaware you had to pre book the parking as nothing was mentioned on the website, Maybe something to enhance they stay in future. The Hotel is nothing but immaculate and high quality. We had booked a sea view room for a very reasonable £77 for the one night we were staying. Room was enormous is all i can say. With a big bathroom and corner settee in the main room. Breakfast in the morning was top quality with plenty of choice and as much as you can eat and all piping hot. All in all we will be going back later in the year for a full weekend and hopefully get the same room.

To review this hotel you have to look at the price you pay. The deal was £89.99 per person for two nights evening meal, bed and breakfast plus a 99p bar and a murder mystery deal. At that price you cannot expect the Ritz. We had upgraded to an "executive room. This is essentially a far bigger one with a large settee and other furniture and a sea view. It was clean, recently decorated, as were all areas we saw, the furniture was basic but comfortable. The bathroom was small but had a corner bath. The bed was two singles together and hard edges which made the middle a little difficult. The food was buffet style with a very limited menu. The food was about right for the price rather than exceptional. Bar prices were reasonable and the barman was good as were all staff we met. The car park is small and you need to reserve a parking space. Provided you accept the price limits what you can get the hotel is good value.

Although the hotel needs some work to the leaking windows and roof, we had a wonderful break. The food and staff are very good and kind friendly and helpful. If you want a quiet break away from the hustle and bustle of Scarborough this is the hotel for you. We have stayed here a few times now and always enjoy our holiday.

Would certainly stay there again. Very clean and tidy . Staff excellent. Had bed breakfast and evening meal Food good choice as much as you wanted - self service and everything was hot including the plates. We went 4 day break with National Coach Holidays excellent value for money Cheap bar 6 - 9. Also you could use a bus pass on the buses.

Spent a long weekend at the Clifton and thoroughly enjoyed it. Good buffet breakfast and evening meals. Polite friendly staff. Comfortable well stocked bar. Warm comfortable, but dated room. Just wish the cleaners were a little better at dusting and hoovering the nooks and crannies. Still had the same cobwebs trailing from the chandelier's in the dining room that we last observed in December 2016.

Booked in to The Grand Scarborough for a 2 night stay and stayed just one night to then book out at 06.00hrs today. We stayed in what should have been a superior room, and to a point the room was reasonably OK, however extremely cold. It was so cold both my wife and I lost a night sleep. We asked for a room heater and this wasn't provided. I'm sure that the terrible weather contributed towards the cold room as we had a sea view, however there's cold and there's really cold. Last night we attended the buffet restaurant and like quite a lot of other guests felt that the food was terrible. I'm aware that you can upgrade your dining, however all food should be enjoyable? They say you pay to learn a lesson, and we certainly did.

I have no idea what people are talking about on here. We were a bit dubious about going here because of the previous reviews on trip advisor but we were pleasantly surprised! As soon as we arrived we were welcomed and they helped us sort out our own personal parking space which is so handy. We had a family room for three and it was the best family room I've ever stayed in. With a sea view and huge rooms we had nothing to complain about. The single bed had it's own little room with a TV and desk and sofa, it was cosy for the whole family! The prices for the hotel are absolutely amazing. We got our evening meal and breakfast for both days and we had the murder mystery entertainment on the Saturday night. (Which was absolutely amazing by the way!). The hotel is in a great location, it's clean and the staff are super friendly. Glenn the bar man is fab and made us feel very welcome in his bar! We would 100% come here again. I recommend anyone to stay here except those people that are snobby ignorant people that pick faults with EVERYTHING, just to save the staffs ears from your boring complaints! Stay here for a fun, welcoming and amazing time, and especially go to the murder mystery night by murder 57! Thank you for our stay!

We went on a murder mystery weekend, the hotel is well positioned for views over the north bay, easy walking to Scarborough Castle and the Harbour. In the opposite direction you have Peeshome Park and Sea Life. The hotel is clean and friendly and the meals are buffet with a good choice and plenty of it. There is car parking on site at a small charge. We enjoyed our stay and are looking forward to our next visit

My wife and I stayed at the Clifton Hotel early March 2018 for one night. We stay in Scarborough every year at this time (23 years since our first date in Scarborough). This is the first time we stayed at the Clifton and will probably be the last. The location of the hotel is fantastic for us. Great views and a short walk to the Old Scalby Mills pub and even shorter to Blue Crush. Although the sea view from our room would have been spectacular, the windows were so dirty it wasn't great. There was a big gap in one of the windows frames which meant a gale came through the gap, making the room really cold. (See picture). We spent the time in room wrapped in blankets to keep warm. The window frames were filthy plus the carpet around the window (see picture). The staff were friendly and helpful. The lift was scary. Shampoo and shower gel dispenser was empty. Problems with the bathroom lock. Only one set of towels (quickly sorted). The breakfast was self service and although not great was okay.

We booked one night here for dinner, bed and breakfast and requested a sea view in the turret. We pre booked a parking space as we know the street parking can be difficult to get close to the hotel. Our room was on the first floor and was newly painted and very warm. However the windows were very draughty and you wouldn’t want to sit on the chairs beside them. The curtains were heavy and kept the draught out but they were so hard to pull closed that some of the curtain hooks had dislodged, leaving the curtains hanging and hard to make meet in the middle. The bed was large and fairly comfortable and the bathroom had a new large corner bath which I couldn’t wait to use. Evening meal was self service and consisted of 3 courses with a choice of 3 options for each course. My main meal could have been hotter but it was tasty. The soup was bland and there was no cream to accompany the desserts. Breakfast was nice enough but again could have been hotter and there could have been a better selection of fruit. This is an old hotel and looks tired in places and there is room for improvement but all in all, we enjoyed our stay and wouldn’t hesitate to book again (preferably the same room). The location is great, the hotel is warm and the staff are friendly.
