We were visiting York for a wedding. We booked this hotel as it was well situated for the wedding venue and reception and over looks the Minster. we asked if we could check into our room early as we needed to get ready. They were really helpful and accommodating. Our room was a small double but it had a large bathroom. It was very clean and comfortable. We paid for valet parking which was very reasonable and convenient. We didn't eat in the hotel but the bar and restaurant looked nice. The staff are very, very friendly. I would recommend this hotel and if in York again we'd stay here.
Spent three night's at this splendidly situated hotel in the centre of York just opposite the Minister. We occupied a refurbished cosy double room at the back of the hotel. Small room but adequate.. staff very welcoming and friendly the restaurant staff particularly so. The hotel location is a big plus, walking distance from the railway station about seven minutes, fantastic pubs nearby and so many restaurants to choose from. We always try somewhere different every time we visit York which is often.. would definitely stay again maybe pre Christmas.
Stayed overnight at this lovely Hotel for a Birthday treat. The Hotel is only yards away from York Minster. The reception area's , Bar and Restaurant are lovely , the room we stayed in was a good size , tastefully decorated , the bathroom was immaculate as was the room , big TV and DVD player , small Drinks Chiller , Safe and everything else you would need . The breakfast next morning was lovely , the service First Class , and the Bonus of sitting looking at the Minster , Everything was perfect , Very Well Done to all the Staff , for making my short stay a night to remember
We stayed her for just one night on a short city break. We arrived way before check-in time, but got a warm welcome. We could leave our luggage in a secure place and when we arrived in our room, the luggage was already there, great service! The rooms are clean, not too spacious but not small either, but can be fairly warm. Our room had a view on York Minster and was a bit noisy due to the pub across the street. At 8 am sharp, the bells of the Minster woke us up, nice! We would certainly stay here again when in York.
Brilliant location, right opposite the Minster, but not disturbed by bells. Fantastically friendly and helpful staff and a really good breakfast. Couldn't ask for more. (And now I need to add more text to clear a stupid arbitrary limit.)
The location is incredible, the staff are absolutely superb, the food is wonderful, the decor is great. The only reason this review isn't a 5 (you will see that I changed it to 5) is because we were put in room 10 which is a noisy room due to it's location at the top of some stairs, with a fire door that woke us up every time it was opened/shut. It also has no view (that isn't really an issue!) and a noisy air con unit (not sure what it was?) outside that seemed to go into overdrive at 3am and woke us up for 10 minutes until it stopped. We didn't complain which is probably because we only realised that it wasn't great to sleep in when we were in bed. Other than that, we loved the hotel and will 100% be back next year but for longer. I changed the review to 5 because everything else was to such a high standard. It deserves it. Thank you
Ideally situated just a stones throw from the Minster (great view from our room), the Shambles and the historic quarter within York walls. Friendly and professional staff and very comfortable rooms. Valet parking service was very useful.
Excellent position across the road from York Minster and just a short walk from the centre of town. Car is parked by hotel staff and is charged by the day. Staff were all cheerful, helpful, knowledgeable and happy to help in any way they could.
My wife and myself booked this Hotel for 1 night to celebrate our anniversary. We were not disappointed the room we had just been renovated. The food was excellent and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The porter Frank was very good showing the facilities in our room and moved our car to the Hotels car park. We will certainly recommend this Hotel to our family and friends.
Literally with a view of the Minster from our window, very friendly staff, car park is away from the hotel but the car is parked and brought back - all worked well. Comfortable lounges for a late night bottle of wine.
