Beautiful location right across York Minster. Comfy bed, great staff at reception, loved the bathroom. A bit warm but manageable. There was a bar and a restaurant inside the hotel, but i decided to ate downtown. There are benches right across the street so i could have my coffee outside in thw sun. Glad i made this choice for my trip to York!
My husband and I stayed at the Dean Court June 9,10,11 of this year. This hotel goes way above and beyond in customer service. We checked in and we were given an absolutely beautiful room. The room was large, newly refurbished and had an amazing view of the Minster. The bathroom was large and had more than enough storage space for people traveling and all the things one has to bring on a two plus week trip. The front desk found us a laundry service that picked up our laundry and returned it the same day and brought it to our room so that we could continue our vacation without interruption and the cost was completely reasonable. We traveled around England and onto Switzerland for about seventeen days and this hotel was the best that we stayed in on our vacation. Upon checkout the manager of guest services offered and helped carry our bags to the front area outside the hotel. You will be so happy if you stay here, we will be back for sure. The hotel is charming, with a friendly staff and great service. The only reason I did not give an excellent review is because our room, though attractive, was stifling hot! There was no air-conditioning, and even though the window was wide open and the temperature outside about 30C, the room remained stuffy and made sleeping difficult. I would recommend staying in this hotel in a second- BUT only in winter!
Stayed here on June 16th for our tenth wedding anniversary. We booked the Langley suite with dinner, bed and breakfast. The location of the hotel is the best in york and we had the best view of York Minster from our room. Valet parking was brilliant. We arrived at about 11.30am and even though check in wasn't until 2pm, we could still leave our car and luggage at the hotel. We checked out at 11am the next day but could leave our car there until 10pm, so decided to spend the day there. This saved all the hassle of trying to find a parking space and keep going back putting more money on the parking. Our room was beautiful. Very spacious and clean. The bed was huge! It was a very hot weekend so the room was a little stuffy, but there was a Dyson fan which worked brilliantly. The fridge was stocked with bottles of water and cans of coke and an assortment of chocolate bars. There was a nice little welcome gift on the bed which was a nice touch. I was looking forward to the temple spa product but we couldn't see any anywhere in the room, so I left a comment about it on the comments card in the room and I've just received some complimentary products through the post from the manager. Thank You very much! There was a pod coffee machine in the room but we didn't know how to work it and there wasn't any instructions. Dinner - we booked a table for 8pm and were seated at a window table looking right onto the minster. The food was excellent and good value for money. The creme brulee was the best we'd ever had! Staff in the restaurant were very attentive and couldn't do enough for you. Breakfast - went down for breakfast at 9am and we're seated promptly. There was a continental buffet style with cereal, fresh fruit, yogurt and croissants etc, then they took your orders for full English, kedgeree, kippers etc We ordered the full yorkshire breakfast. When it arrived there was no hash brown or black pudding. The waiter took our plates back and put us a hash brown on, but said they didn't have any black pudding on that day. They should have mentioned this when we ordered as there were other people asking for it too. However, the breakfast was very good and tasty and staff were apologetic. We had an excellent stay at the Dean Court Hotel and would definitely stay here again. The staff were fantastic, couldn't fault them in any way. We would definitely recommend this hotel.
We booked a wedding here at the beginning of June and attended with a large group of family and friends. We chose the hotel due to its wonderful location. We had orginally turned up on spec and were greeted by Steve Bailey who could not have been more helpful. He spent a great deal of time with us and left us with no doubt that we had to use this place as our venue. We were not disappointed! Steve continued to liaise with us to ensure that everything up to the big day was planned and ran smoothly. The room we had was fabulous, overlooking the Minster. We held the wedding breakfast during the afternoon in the restaurant. The food was pure quality and the service excellent. The customer service at this place is second to none. Every staff member we encountered went out of their way to make sure that we felt special and welcome. This also extended to paying attention to the youngsters within our party. I have never experienced such a personal touch at a hotel. I would not hesitate to recommend this place to anybody and would jump at the chance to visit again!
This will have been my 3rd stay at this hotel and it gets better. I go to York at least twice a year with my sister for an overnight stay for a sightseeing/retail therapy visit, this hotel is perfectly situated for both. The staff are very friendly, polite and professional. We ate in the restaurant on the evening, the menu is very good and also reasonable. The food is extremely good. The rooms are all spacious and very comfortable. The renovated rooms are lovely and just that bit nicer than the ones that haven't been done yet as you would expect but they are still nice. On the whole a very nice stay and I will stay again.
Travelled up to York for an overnight stay. Spotted this hotel on my walk into the centre of town. Liked the look of it, so went to reception to see if there was a vacancy for that night. Reception staff very friendly and helpful. I stayed in a smaller double room. Really lovely, tidy, clean, bathroom modern, excellent water pressure. Complimentary bottle of water, tea, coffee in the room. Bed very comfortable, slept soundly. Breakfast delicious, continental and hot items cooked to order. Great location too.
Just returned from 7 amazing days days at Dean Court.Cannot complement the staff enough ..nothing was too much trouble and so appreciated the wonderful surprise they treated me to on my birthday.stayed in room 61 which had the most spectacular Minster view.A Special mention and huge thankyou to the "Dynamic Duo"..Bosco and Ronni who made the fabulous breakfasts even more special with their attentive friendly service and wonderful smiles..a great asset to the hotel and hope they are still doing their thing next time we visit...rebooked already...yes it was that good...so thanks once again for making our stay such a joy.Gerry C
Visited here twice already this year.Excellent position and friendly staff.Valet parking is good.Have seen that some people think it is expensive I don't agree.Used to visit on train but that probably costs more and less convenient.Would like to have had a refurbished room.Visited 3 times last year and didn't manage it.Hoping for one when next visit later this year.
Stayed for 1 night in small double. As advertised its 'cosy'! It is very small as you come through the door the double bed takes up the full room. Still room for a welcome fridge and kettle. Did find it small for 2 people to get ready but fine for just 1 night. It's been beautifully refurbished and the bathroom was nice with lots of hot water and good quality toiletries. Did find the room very hot, there is a fan but too noisey to have switched on through the night. Loved the location of this hotel and all the staff were excellent. Will definitely be back but will book a different room type next time.
