Superb location, five minute walk into Harrogate, excellent parking facilities. Staff could not do enough, early check in option. 5 star breakfast, we will be definitely back, even our pouch being able to stay was an extra bonus. There is nothing negative I can say about this hotel. Such a reasonable price for what is on offer.
Came here on a Groupon offer and what fabulous value for money it was. It's located just outside the centre but only about a 10 min walk into Harrogate. This is a beautiful old hotel which had thankfully kept many of its original features. We arrived early afternoon there were a few people checking in but the staff were very friendly and efficient. Our room was very spacious with king size bed and looked as if recently decorated with a new bathroom with large walk in shower. It was spotlessly clean. Bed very comfortable. The deal included a glass of prosecco and mini afternoon tea which was served buffet style in the bar. The sandwiches were very fresh and nice bite size cakes. Also included was dinner and this is the only criticism I have. All choices are served carvery style and but starters and desserts ordered from a waiter. It would be helpful if this was explained by the greeter on entering the dining room to avoid confusion. The food was good as was the service from our waiter. Breakfast, to be honest, because this is a large hotel I wasn't expecting brilliant quality. I was wrong. Choice of cereals and cooked breakfast very good. Nice sausage and bacon. I feel it's only fair to mention the housekeeping staff. For while needing nothing to do with them this type of building isn't the easiest to keep looking spick and span but compared to other hotels like this they are doing an amazing job. All in all we were very impressed & all the staff were helpful and pleasant.
Hotels location is 5 min walk to bottom of the town with a large free car park, reception is good, check in was quick but not allowed until 3pm, this was no problem as we wanted to park the car and walk into town at 12pm a voucher to put in our car was issued. Our room was nice enough not too big but clean and comfy, large bathroom with good shower over the bath. The common areas are in much need of touch up, it’s a big-dated hotel but the price was right for One night. The main downer was a member of staff trying to gain access to our room at around 8-30!! we assume to see if we had vacated, no we hadn't, one in bed and one in shower room, we saw him again later as we went for breakfast entering another room and being chased out!!!! Although the Hotel was very busy it was very quiet. We had B&B and Dinner, queuing was a problem, but the food and table service was spot on. Good place for a night or two.
The hotel is very grand, the entrance lobby being particularly impressive. The room was very comfortable, warm, well appointed with a large bathroom. The three course dinner included in the package was very good with a good choice and a free glass of fizz. Tye breakfast was excellent with plenty if choice, The location is five minutes walk into Harrogate. Our first time here but we will definitely be back. All staff were friendly and efficient. We have stayed at Strathmore hotels several times and they offer incredible value with a consistent standard throughout. Would recommend.
The Cairns has a impressive entrance, the reception staff are excellent, polite and helpful.they have competive priced breaks, and there are bus stops right outside the hotel entrance, The buses are excellent to use with nice drivers. The hotel lounge is nice, and the restaurant is large and has lovely chandeliers and interesting windows.Breakfast offers a good selection and the omelettes are delicious. The evening meals are good, with a choice of starters, mains, and desserts,There have been changes in the hotel, they have upgraded some rooms, but to change £20 per night per room is expensive as you now don't get basics any more. The bathroom only as soap in a dispenser,no shower cap or bath robes not even a bottle of water, you can have a selection of these items, but these will cost another £25 per room per night,so you pay just for room size with no frills at all
Once again my daughter and I enjoyed a lovely nights accommodation with meals at the hotel. The food was very good and the staff were very polite and helpful, although one of the male evening bar staff was very surly and quite abrupt and not at all communicative. The room was lovely, very clean, bright and welcoming.
I was feeling rather apprehensive when I arrived an hour early, tired and wet with my Border collie as he has not stayed in a hotel before. I received a lovely welcome from the receptionist and luckily my room was ready. It is £10 extra for a dog, which I consider very reasonable, and I was given poop bags and treats. I booked a superior twin room which was on the first floor at the back and I could not hear any traffic noise from the busy A61. The room was very spacious with slightly dated furniture, clean and comfortable. The bathroom was large with a decent sized bath and plenty of hot water. Fortunately Monty settled in quickly and we enjoyed a relaxing overnight stay. The breakfast was good and the staff friendly and efficient. There was plenty of parking and we had enjoyable walks to the town and gardens, and round the local residential area. We would be happy to return.
Stayed here in this grand hotel 9&10th October, in a classic double room. Staff pleasant and helpful, room and ensuite clean and warm. Bed was comfortable.Food good and plentiful.Hotel is situated close to shops about 5 mins walking distance away. would recommend and would definitely revisit.
We stayed at this Hotel for two nights and found it to be in need of quite a lot of refurbishment. Our room was quite comfortable but in need of redecoration. The wash basin taps were loose and the bedroom radiator was not working. On the plus side the staff were extremely polite and very efficient and helpful. The evening meal was a carvery and very nicely cooked, Breakfast (buffet style) was very good and an excellent selection. A notice on the dining room door said smart casual clothing was required and gave a list of items that were not acceptable two of which were shorts and football shirts but one gentleman entered the Dining Room dressed in these two items. No one questioned this and I find it hard to accept that certain standards are declared but not enforced. I personally think the Management should demand these standards that they have set should be enforced.
We really love this hotel, its location is good for walking into the town. The staff are very efficient, friendly and helpful. Our room on the second floor and was clean spacious and comfortable. Dinner was very good and also the service was spot on. We would like to say a big thank you to Karen on the reception she checked us in even though we had arrived early. We had a lovely nights stay and cannot wait the return again.
