When we first arrived we were put off by the noise in reception and the noise from the dining room but....ignore that bit because what goes on behind the building is breathtaking. Wonderful walks, amazing pools and great service. We only had breakfast one morning at the cabanas dining room and went to cascades restaurant most mornings and the palace one day. We paid the extra money that worked out at about £2 per morning but well worth it. We had a lake facing room which was perfect no SA adaptor plugs required we could plug the 3 pin UK plug into the socket. Everything was lovely and clean. Lots of activity going on around the golf course with the tournament in November but everyone was so friendly and so helpful. All the porters were so cheerful and pleasant. We tried most restaurants but our favourite was the Sushi restaurant it was amazing. The Legends bar have good entertainment and meals there were good. Lots of pools around the resort so can always find a quiet spot we didn’t have more than 10 people around the pools at any one time. We were told when we arrived we couldn’t pay with cash and had to use a debit card but there was only the one dining room in the cabanas that said that everywhere else you could pay with cash. Great shuttle service to take you around the site.
Thank you to Fani and his team for making our day memorable. My family has come out from the uk and absolutely loved jet skiing, banana boat and the tubes. Fani really took the time to get to know us and make the day truly special. We will definitely be back. Keep up the great work.
We had the opportunity of staying at the Cabanas when we had a Congress at Sun City. Our booking in was very well organized and hassle free, the only problem was that we were given our door card had to find our own way to the room as they were too busy for anyone to show us where to go and the place is huge to cart a case around. The rooms are fairly small with two single beds together and a bathroom with shower only. It was clean and had everything we needed in it. It can be a bit noisy with people going back to their rooms after partying and talking loudly along the passages. But all in all, staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was very good.
Stayed 2 nights, arriving very early on day of check-in & spent it at the pool area until 2pm when we checked in. Was pleasantly surprised by the colourful upgrades. Very clean, very neat, pristine rooms. Who cares they are compact? You get what you pay for after all. We took the special price offered for that period and paid next-to-nothing for what we experienced. The ONLY thing I can complain about are the leaf-blowers that go off early morning and later on again. The decibels are high! But I suppose there's nothing that can be done about all the leaves that fall other than using the blower. But LOVED the experience.
Having read other reviews I was reluctant to book this hotel. Price for this trip was a huge consideration, with Cabanas being the least expensive hotel at Sun City, we booked anyway. I really shouldn't have worried! We had 2 family rooms, with 2 of us in each room. There were 2 single beds, pushed together to make a double. There was also a sofa bed which we didn't use. The room was spacious with plenty of storage space for our clothes. The bathroom has a good size shower. Everything was near, clean and in good order. Our room rate included breakfast. There was a fantastic selection of hot and cold food available. My only criticism would be that I would prefer to see the cold meats/cheese etc covered as the hot was. There was an omelette station and another doing pancakes and waffles. Plenty of healthy choices and not do healthy with a separate vegetarian station. I didn't see anywhere that you could eat in the evening, we opted to go to Sun Centre one evening and the Casino another. We had a drink at the bar, service was slow but otherwise good. The reception was manned by courteous and knowledge staff. Ask for a resort map when you arrive. We didn't find this until our last day. There is so much to do at Sun City and you need to explore. The pool area was very nice, plenty of sunbeds and a large grass area. Much quieter then the valley of waves. The lake had a great selection of water sports good for watching even if you aren't taking part. We had amazing weather and are very happy that we chose to stay here.
We spent 3 nights at the cabanas. 2 adults and 2 children. The room was extremely small. The room had a musty smell. The toilet ran constantly and did not flush. I called front desk 4 times to get someone out to fix it. They arrived after 10pm when my kids were sleeping. All the staff we met were lazy, rude and unhelpful. Especially front desk and concierge. It was not value for money. My husband and I wanted a nice meal at the palace but everywhere was either closed or fully booked. We could not get any milk for a cup of tea when we arrived. We asked concierge, and everyone we could find. My elderly mother was very distressed about this. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
We spent 2 night in one of the rooms here. Rooms have everything you need. It is a bit small but with all the activities to do here you don't spend a lot of time in the room so no need for anything bigger. Receptionist Whitney was so kind and let us checked in a bit earlier. Housekeeper greeted us every morning and was very helpful and kind. We we never offered coffee at the restaurant so cannot really comment on waiters. Breakfast buffet was amazing. Bacon not to great but there is really a wide variety to choose from and love the fact that it stays open till 11h00 Loved the wide variety of new restaurants to choose from to have lunch and dinner. Even went to catch 2 movies within our time here. Burger at Poolbar was fantastic, ribs was cold. Cocktails is a must. We will definitely return.
The newly upgraded rooms at the Cabanas are modern and funky! The rooms are small but very comfortable with everything necessary for a good stay. We had a lake facing room which was a long walk from everything but worth it. The beds and linen are very comfortable and our room was very clean. Plasma screen with a lot of options which was useful during the rain! The breakfast area is huge and very busy with just about anything available. The food was good although some items were very cold and the muffins and pastries were definitely not made the same day! No teaspoons available to stir tea or coffee! There is a good selection of restaurants at Sun central which is accessible by bus every few minutes. Activities and shopping at sun city are very pricey for locals.
We visited Sun City from 25 - 29 September 2017 and stayed at the Vacation Club. The resort in itself is great, offers load of activities that caters young - old. The restuarants however are quite slow in service but that did not change the experience we had. I also enjoyed the inter-shuttles being offered from the one location to the other. The monkeys and Baboons does run freely, especially at Valley of the Waves and it seem as if they become more active from the afternoon onwards (i.e. stealing food from bins and campers luggage). Other than that, we are definitely planning on returning back to Sun City. Some of the group members have been at the resort a number of years ago and are happy about the improvements/changes implemented at the resort.
After our last visit to the Cabanas about 10 years ago we found that the resort has gone down. The service was very slow if any service at all . The rooms and facilities are good but more staff and faster service would greatly improve the resort. The evening dining at the cabanas is also no longer available which was a big disappointment.
