Mybfirst night and I may as well slept on the hard shoulder if the A55 .. that's how loud I could hear the traffic so trying to get to sleep is unbearable .. never mind the person above me with there TV in and stomping around so the walls aren't exactly noise cancelling . After I checked in the bathroom stank of cigarettes , the ladies at reception where good enough to get an Ioniser in my room to irradiate the smell however it's been about 5 hours and the smell has returned. The cleanliness of the bathroom isn't great as you can see from the photos the air vent is full of dust , the bathroom curtain looks like if it's going to fall off and as seen better days. Unfortunately a poor experience for a holiday Inn , one I personally wouldn't recommend .. if you do happen to stay , request a room away from the main carriage way , and check the cleanliness of the bathroom and smells .
My family booked here for a family members funeral wake, could not of asked for a nicer place. It was situated in the conservatory the area was kept clear and it was like we had the place too ourselves. The food was lovely and the service exceptional thank you for making a difficult day a little more bearable. I have been her and reviewed here before and will continue to do so. Thank you.
We stayed there for 2 nights.staff were excellent ,beds very comfy but what let the accomdation down was the stuffy rooms, although there was air conditioning it didn't help maybe if the carpets were cleaned or better still replaced.over all it was ok
Stopped for 1 night as we were going to the races. Handy location just on the bypass and 9 miles from the centre. Taxi costs £25 but the room was cheaper than staying in the city due to the races. The hotel is next to a diner, petrol station , McDonald's and a costa coffee shop so handy for anything you need. The greeting at reception was very friendly and the staff were very efficient and helpful. We didn't eat there but there is a bad which was good . The room was clean and the shower powerful enough which I do consider important. Overall a good choice and I'd stay again .
When the receptionist greets you by asking you to settle your account in advance it's not a good start. Room was big enough but very tired. We came to the conclusion that the strange smell was because wooden surfaces may have been revarnished. Which in turn may explain why they were so sticky. The restaurant and bar are equally tired. Some staff were efficient but some appeared to be students and lack of training was apparent. We tried dinner once and used the OK Diner after that. Enough said. Breakfast was good with a wide range available and pleasant, efficient service. Despite the name, you are in North Wales not Chester. We knew this so it wasn't an issue but there are other IHG Group hotels in Chester if that's where you want to be. Likewise as it's in the A55 Services it's convenient if you're travelling into Wales but you have to detour to approach it if travelling towards England or wanting to drive back to Chester. Parking is plentiful. Checking out was speedy except for trying to overcharge me and getting the bill wrong. Would I return? Very unlikely and certainly not until it's been extensively refurbished.
I find myself on regular business trips along the North Wales coast staying at a hotel for one night then moving on to another. I had not stayed here before but found myself doing so in August because my regulars were booked up or really expensive. Holiday Inn is not usually the cheapest option, but on this occasion it was 20% cheaper than the others. I was pleasantly surprised by this Holiday Inn. Location is not great, straight off the A55 dual carriageway meaning that you can only access it from the east and can only leave to the west. It was also pretty noisy at the front. However, staff were friendly and helpful, the room was spacious, clean and reasonably well equipped and the facilities were pretty good. There are a few not great options for food in the service area so I was really pleased to find that the restaurant menu was pretty good - more range and imagination than at most chain hotels. The menu included a decent set of options for vegetarians too. Quality was decent too - although not exceptional! Breakfast however was more disappointing, £9.50 fixed price and when I asked about vegetarian options I was told "We have quorn sausages and you'll find a few other bits and pieces too"
As I could not face the M6 traffic on a weekday morning and driving like a madman to catch the Ferry I stayed here overnight and continued my journey on the Saturday. Its brilliant, excellent food, excellent staff.I could not fault the place,so I will do this again.Well done to everyone, special thanks to the chef, the food was first class, keep up the good work.Very impressed.
We stayed here with our two teenage sons in August for 5 night. We had an executive room and a twin room. The executive room had everything we needed and was large and roomy. The mini fridge was appreciated and tea and coffee to make drinks was replenished daily and our bed was very comfy. Our sons had the twin room which had 2 double bed and again had plenty of room. The room did have a slightly damp smell (which we didn't mention to the staff) but this disappeared when the windows were opened. Like other reviewers l felt the hotel needed some updating, new decor, carpets and furniture as it was slightly rundown. On the plus side the staff were very pleasant, the breakfast was good and the restaurant was good value. The dining facilities looked like they had been recently updated and were modern and very clean. It was well located and near to all the things we wanted to do. There was plenty of parking. It was slightly noisy with from the A55 but we were aware of this when we booked so not surprised. Would stay again if we were in the area.
It's my hotel of choice when working at Ellesmere Port, much cheaper than the ones on the doorstep, it has nice little Touches, fridge in room, excellent wifi etc, something, staff are lovely, parking great, Most I've paid is about £80, usually about £60, but as low as£45, pro per bargain, clean and tidy . no brainier really. If I had to give a negative it would be the decor is a bit dated, but really, would that matter!
First thing to mention is that this Holiday Inn is in a services area off the A55 - but don't let that put you off. If anything it's convenient as there's not only the hotel and it's excellent facilities, but there is (at time of writing) a McDonalds, a Costa Coffee, Subway, OK Diner and a BP garage. There is lots of parking and there does seem to be plenty of CCTV too. This is a holiday inn that's the size of an express, but has the larger holiday inn facilities and feel - a nice bar, decent restaurant and nice rooms too. The receptionist was really helpful - couldn't do enough to ensure I had a good stay, and definitely made me feel like a valued customer. The rooms were of a good size - I was on the ground floor and my room had a queen size bed, nicely appointed bathroom, decent TV and tea/coffee facilities. Also had powerful air con too. In this one they also took the cue and replaced the old mini bar with a proper fridge. Nice touch. They'd even taken the old plug sockets out and put in new sockets with in built USB sockets too. The restaurant was lovely - staff very attentive, I had a rib eye steak and it was cooked exactly how I had asked. The food was excellent, and had a good beer selection too. All in all, I had a good stay and would stop again. Thank you Holiday Inn Chester west :)
