hoping our stay with the westin hotel at conchal beach resort , costa rica for our anniversary will be as memorable as our past anniversaries ,we've gone with costco travel for 6 times , never disappointed with spacious rooms ( my family & i ) and great food, i hear very very nice professional men & woman are at the resort, with many things to do and places to go ( with a car) , everyone who has stayed at the westin conchal resort has talked us into going to this wonderful place this anv trip, so here we come ! thank you anthony palomba wife stephanie and son antonio
The resort is beautiful, our room and bed were very comfortable. The staff do not know the word "no". Diego, Paul, Steven and Jose were amazing with food and beverage service. They memorized our names, room, food and drink preferences. We bought a couple of pieces of pottery from The Oven Store owned by Jesus and Susan in Guatil. Susan speaks great english and they are true artisans. The Diría Coffee processing plant in Hojancha was worth the drive. Dennis knows his coffee and made the tour fun and interactive. If you love coffee this is a must! Marizio Silva from Authentico Tours made our jet ski tour to the Catalina islands a one of a kind experience. On the beach we got the best $20.00 massages from Gigi and Lourdes. We had a massage every day (sometimes 2 a day) with different ladies and they were the best! We will definitely go back next year!
I am a Colombian resident in Costa Rica and Reserva Conchal is my favorite place. I like the apartments, with very nice decoration and all needed for great relax. Our most recent apartment had view to the ocean which made it even better . The beach club is fantastic for all family.
Our stay was in November. We stayed at the Bougainvillea condos in suite 7105 and absolutely loved it! So beautifully decorated. Very authentic Spanish style. It had everything we needed extremely well appointed and furnished. It even had a rice cooker! I was impressed with the private beach club and all the paddle boards, kayaks and bikes that we could use for free. The service at home he beach club was incredible. I felt like a VIP! I would recommend this resort and the condo I stayed in ( more like a home) to anyone! PURA VIDA!
Condos are nice, staff was as helpful as the could be with our room request issue. Very hard to navigate within the property and to find check in. (We had a rental car) travels there for a conference at the Westin. Used their shuttle then the Westin carts to get to the conference. Good restaurant options on site were hard to find the one. We did stumble across was not very good. (We couldn't use most Westin restaurants) nice pool and amenities.
Our visit was wonderful in every way. We stayed at a 1 BR condo high on the hill. The condo was great. It was beautifully furnished and had every amenity. The view of the ocean was spectacular. We did have to get in our car and drive 5 minutes down to the beach to enjoy the pool and meals, but were rewarded by a drive through the Reserve, and many wildlife sightings. We saw howler monkeys several times. We ended up not minding this so much. The staff is great, the meals are excellent. We ended up eating the majority of our meals on site during our short stay, but also enjoyed getting out and checking out some iconic spots on nearby beaches, such as Flamingo Beach. We will be back!
We stayed at a premium 3 bedroom residence. which is a condo with a great view of the beach BUT soooo far from actually being on the beach. There is a single shuttle for the whole complex (ridiculous on a busy Easter week) to take you to the beach club. It took about 10+ minutes for us to get down to the beach, and more time if you had additional pick ups. A car is necessary here just to get to the beach club but parking is a night mare there. The concierge team is not adequate. Our first night there, there was a huge party blaring music right below our condo. It took 3 calls to the concierge that night at 11pm to get someone over there to have them pipe down. I wrote the concierge that we wanted to move condos........ no response at all from them. We asked the concierge to help us get a rental car as they post a car rental deal in the concierge office. They told me that it would be easier for THEM if I just went there to handle. The condo was nice enough (Malinche 525B) and the view was truly amazing. However, the birds in the area crap all over the outdoor space. I get that there are birds and that happens. However, the cleaning crew that comes daily (the reason I went with the concierge-rented condo vs going directly to owner) did not rinse down the outdoor patio even once! The bird poop that was there when we arrived was there when we left, along with some more! We have stayed in very nice condos all around the world. Most have a few basics like salt, pepper, a packet of laundry detergent, dish washing machine detergent, etc. Nada at this place, except for some coffee. Most also check to make sure items like propane in grill or batteries in remotes are working. Not here. Our shower had a leaky showerhead and a bathroom sink that had a handle that seeped water when turned on. The owner of our condo should be ticked that their condo isn't maintained better. We notified the concierge of these items, and no response. The beach club is quite nice as are the restaurants. As we booked thru the concierge service, we got a 25% discount on food, drink, etc at beach club. That 25% reduction put the pricing where it should be. Get a spot to sit by the pool early as there are not nearly enough lounge chairs for the number of people who are staying there. The pool is very nice as is the beach area. My kids enjoyed paddleboarding, which was included in the price of the condo.
The concierge people are not the friendliest, the condos are very far from the beach area and from the concierge desk, so you will need a car to get around. It works for people who are looking to rent a condo and cook in. The restaurants on the ground are very limited and the Westin restaurants that are on the ground you need to make prior reservations to. The people at the Westin do not seem to want Reserva guests to be on their grounds.
We stayed here in 2011 and came back as we previously had a great time. The towel boss is simply rude, unfriendly and miserable, the concierge lady was as good as useless and couldn't solve a problem, just blank looks on her face (chocolate teapot springs to mind), the waitress forgets drink orders and the pool was not clean. Now some positives....the shuttle bus drivers were very friendly and stopped to allow us to see monkeys, the beach was lovely and our villa was great. Service is the fault with this place.
First, you have to understand what this place is. It's several very nice condo projects around a large golf course and all part of the Westin Resort. The buildings are spread out over at least a couple of miles so if you just want to walk everywhere this might not be for you but it's a perfect place to stay as far as I'm concerned. The beach club is there for the benefit of the condo owners and guests and it can't be beat. Excellent exercise room, spa, pool, and even some water sports equipment all free. It's very uncrowded and much better than I was expecting. Every person was extremely helpful and polite especially the concierge service who are there to help and not to push tours etc. Meals at the restaurant were very good and really well priced especially with the 25 percent discount(if you pay $100). This turned out to save us money in the end. The beach was also excellent. I was a little concerned about having to take a shuttle everywhere but they're very efficient and I wouldn't have any problem using them. As others have mentioned, if you're going to be there for a week, a car is a good option. Overall, I loved this place. Well planned, new and well done. I would much prefer staying in my condo(Jabo building) to the Westin which while nice, is showing it's age a little. It's the best of both worlds, a nice large place to stay and the perfect beach facility for your use. Be aware that some condos will have ocean views and some won't and size and quality will vary so do your research. I booked mine directly from the owner so there was no question about what I was getting. In fact I'd say the only way someone might not like Reserva Conchal is if they are misunderstood what it is. Highly recommended.
