Make sure to bring comfortable walking shoes. There is so much to see by foot, not to mention potentially walking up the hills to your accommodations.

Very tranquil, relaxing place. Celebrated 50th Anniversary here with our family.

We stayed at Borinquen for our honeymoon, and I have to admit, the place is beautiful. However, Borinquen or any of the hotels around do not maintain the road up to their place-it is bad! With that said, be prepare to spend a lot of money in food and tours if you don't have a car to move around-the food there is 3 times the price of the food downtown Liberia. Also, don't fall for the laundry service. We thought it was included because they offered it like if it was free. Hence, we decided to wash a few things and when doing the checkout discovered that they were charging us $70. I got pretty upset and told them all the things we were disappointed about. They tried to compensate with a free dinner & decided to give us the $70 back (which I have to check if they really did so). Regarding the facility, in our 1st day, we found a huge roofing nail in the pool area :s They don't have a yoga place like they advertise. In our room, the air conditioning was not working, so we called and they came to check it and said they will be back to solve the problem (that was around 8pm), however, they never got back to us/responded calls until the next day. We also had a huge spider in our room-Thankfully someone came to get it out. I know that could happen due to the forest area. However, those things could be prevented if the hotel invest in some screens for windows and doors. In our 2nd day, we were moved to another room-it did not have hot water most of the time & had a extremely hard bed.

Gorgeous hotel, with paradise like gardens surrounding each cabin style rooms. Free mud bath and sauna. Right on the property you can go horseback riding. Also there is canoping here too. Breakfast is plentiful and very good ! You will truly love this hotel, I really recomend it !

This is a wonderful hotel, with beautiful cottage like rooms surrounded by lush gardens. The hotel has everything you need in its very big property, like swimming pool, spa, mud bath and steam bath all this is free ! They also have hiking trails, canopy, horse back riding this you pay for. I highly recommend this excellent hotel. You'll feel like you're in PARADISE, Really !!!!

Room was excellent, beautiful and large! We stayed in a junior suite, large bedroom, living room, huge bathroom and had in room fridge. Great for chilling our wine to sip on balcony in evening. Suites are up a steep hill, so be prepared to drive or take a hike! Great View though! Service from staff was excellent- all very nice and accommodating. Had nice massage at spa, took horseback ride, Fernando was a great guide! Pool Bar was under renovation but they made every effort to have cold drinks on hand. Property is large- love the monkeys, iguanas and birds! Some updating is needed but overall place was well cared for!

Breathtaking scenery in the mountains surrounded by nature with lots of outside daytime activities but not much to do at night. The horseback ride brought us to 2 waterfalls but not the natural waterslide advertised. Nonetheless, it was still very worthwhile. The rooms are large and decent but somewhat rundown. Many of our lights were out and the bathroom fixtures needed updating. The hotel boasts of being luxurious; and while the outside is naturally luxurious, the accommodations are definitely not. The hotel seemed low on staff as there was only one person to handle check-ins and outs, as well as all of the bookings for activities. We tried to book the activities ahead of time but no one responded to our emails. There is also no shop, nor any place nearby, to purchase provisions, snacks or souvenirs. T

#1 get a 4x4 and plan on an adventure but it's a blast. The hotel is remote and you will do some walking but it's good for you. #2 leave the phone and laptop at home. No wifi, and it was ok. Took an adjustment but then it felt so good to be away. #3 make your trips to town count. Bring provisions for your room before you climb the mountain. #4 enjoy the beauty of the best hotel, grab a horse and just go and listen to the tocans, birds and monkeys. Plan a picnic by the waterfalls. Enjoy

Excellent service at all levels. Perfect courtesy.

The hotel has very beautiful bungalow rooms. The service however lacks some attention. All in all however, it is a nice place to stay.

While I enjoyed my stay here I wouldn't go back. The positive points were the spa facilities. The mud and the natural steam and sauna we're really cool- a once in a lifetime experience. The rooms were also nice and I thought the food was decent - the breakfast was delicious. The only thing I didn't like about it is that the hotel itself is not Costa Rican. It's owned by a Cuban and the name Borinquen means a woman from Puerto Rico. The hotel decor feels as out of place as the name. The grounds, while pretty are incredibly manicured - it really feels like a golf course which is a shame given the natural beauty of the region.

I booked this hotel on a whim, thinking it was close to the Liberia airport. It is fairly close, but not as close as i thought considering the poor road conditions. The hotel was gorgeous on a gorgeous mountainside and the rooms were all private, and beautiful, and modern, and comfortable. The grounds were amazing, with hot springs and complimentary mud to put on your body. Amazing pool and restaurant as well. I would highly recommend this resort. It is top notch!

The Borinquen is an AMAZING resort!!!!! The staff who work there attend to your every need and go out of their way to make sure your experience is unforgettable. By far the BEST staff at any resort I've ever been to. The views from the rooms are great and you will get to see the most amazing sunsets every night. The pool and spa amenities were awesome as well. I can't say enough great things about this place, it was worth every penny and I will recommend this resort to EVERYONE! Great place to relax and recoup!

Amazing Natural Beauty! Not much to do when raining all day! Zip Line is ultra Cool. Restaurant breakfast wonderful but dinner selections need improvement, especially desert options. Steam Room and hot spas very nice! Staff very nice and friendly.
