We’ve booked here twice now to break up the drive to Toronto and so the kids could swim and burn off some energy. The check in was super quick, we were given a ground floor which was nice and clean. The front desk was extremely helpful and friendly. The kids love the pool :) and the make your own waffles for breakfast. Would definitely stay here again.
This hotel is exactly what you need. A nice hotel with parking and a clean room. They also have a continental style breakfast but you can also ask for scrambled eggs and sausages. And there is a pool as well
Breakfast is pretty terrible - but I guess you get what you pay for (it is free). No elevator. Rooms are dated. Pillows aren't great. Small and square and lumpy.
The walls are really thin you can hear everything! The rooms smelled of smoke you can barley breath. The bath tap would shoot out the wall when you turned the shower on (Thats real safety) The carpet was ripped and the bedroom curtains was stained and ripped. I've seen better motels.
We stayed here and when we got in our room we noticed mold in the shower. We notified the front desk and the lady changed us rooms. As we checked our new room it was the same issue. Mold in the shower again. The pool was also closed which was an unforseen circumstance. At 7am the fire alarm went off because of burnt toast. Do we did not get a good night's sleep. Needless to stay we will never stay here again. The only positive thing I have to say is the girl at the front desk when we checked in was very nice.
First I must say the property is kept clean, the room it's self was clean and had the basics. What was really nice was the single serve keurig machine in the room. This was very nice to see for a Travelodge Brand. I worked for a Marriott brand and my property had not caught up to this yet.. the water pressure was great after a long day of moving and driving, again I was impressed. The mattressestimated and pillows were a bit firm for me but I can really appreciate that over a saggy bed. There is a complimentary breakfast in the lobby which is appreciated before heading out on our next 7 hrs drive. In the day light we noticed a nice table and chairs out back with a bbq pleasant surprise as it was nice to sit for a few minutes with our dogs. This hotel is also very conveniently located. Sits on a corner of hey 17. You can go one way towards Sturgeon Falls and Sudbury the other way is taking to Ottawa. You have the independant and walmart mall 2 minutes away and your choice of country style or time right there. Essentially is in the same driveway to the hotel as well. I made my reservation with Crystal, we made a mistake online and she was so great to help us fix it. She was pleasant and very quick at getting us all booked in, even giving us the option of groundoor floor with patio doors for our dogs.. Her experience really shows and I was very sad I did not get to see her upon my check in or out to thank her. Crystal you are the reason I am giving the hotel a 4 star... your customer serice.... OK so now I'm going to rant a little... As mentioned I work in hotels.. I try very hard to remember not everyone is like me : wide smile, over friendly and so I'm told the most perky person they have ever met.... However I do expect a certain level... The agent who checked me in complained she was tired when she repeated a few of the hotel amenities to us..OK..it is barely 10pm..but who knows what her day was like. she barely spoke above a low tone which made it hard to hear her... I barely even got a greeting when we were came in to register. this continued the next morning as well with other staff. We came in the front door to the lobby for breakfast. Right next to the door two staff members were smoking. OK I get u need a break I guess I wouldn't have minded so much but as staff you are the face of the hotel.. you are to welcome the guests not the other way around.. I had to say good morning first.. same with the agent at the desk... The breakfast agent also not friendly.. it is a very small space so I understand you keep hot food hot and that means it may have to stay in the kitchen I can appreciate that.. however when people come into the area you say good morning hope you had a good stay.. highlight a few breakfast items. And then say in order to ensure hot foods for your enjoyment we have..... in the back if you would like something please let me know and I wouldon't be happy to get some for you. No instead it was barked at me.. do you want eggs or sausage.. then I was rudely instructed on how to make waffles.. I was not struggling with how to make them what was a struggle was the two Cups stuck together with batter I had more batter on me before I even poured batter from the dispenser into cuplay to poor into the waffle maker. Therefore a small suggestion to keep fresh cups each person then throws away their cup after use.. otherwise the breakfast agent should be cleaning the cups and area instead of wandering and looking at the papers.. not busy 4 people including my gang were in the area for breakfast. Another suggestion is to ask guests either first when making the reservation or upon check in if they are Wyndham members. I had to ask upon check out... it's a small detail but it's nice gesture by the property.. loyal, customers want their points.. Another small thing I mentioned to the agent upon check out, not sure if she passed it on or it was one of those uh... I got in late it was dark.. I walked into our room and turned on the hall light. I went further into the room and turned on the desk lamp... well what I tried to do.. so the hall Light, any avid traveler knows, is not always the brightest to fill the entire room. So my hands are full it's dark in that area of the room and the lights beside the bed and above the desk are not turning on. Again from my travel experience and my housekeeping days I knew what it was... the lights and clock were unplugged. So I'm thinking to myself they did not expect to be full and they were doing the whole Being Green thing... but I booked the day before.. they knew I was coming... so why are all the cords unplugged.. So after all my little issues it's not a bad hotel to stay at like I said it's clean.. I just wished that the little details, lights, and welcoming customer service were not over looked. It was a quick stop but I'm not sure that I would hands down recommend the hotel, unfortunately for me it's the customer service and the cleanliness that brings me back or makes me recommend , and it's sad that I can't give more pluses. I guess I hope the agents can take a few things go away from this and I hope Crystal gets a big high five for the great service she provided.
We were invited to a friend of my son's wedding recently and stayed at this hotel because we were taking our pets and this was the only one that allowed our dogs to stay.We had three rooms and although it was not a five star hotel, it was comfortable stay. Some minor details that could be fixed would definitely change this rating. My son, who was staying on the lower floor found it not very sound proof, he was able to hear everyone taking a shower. We were on the upper floor with my daughter and her major complaint was the lack of sound proofing, she could hear the next room;s t.v. She also noted that she was in a conjoined room, but the lock on her side was broken, not a very good safety feature. Our room had a water pressure problem in the shower, not a major issue but makes for a slightly longer shower. The staff were very pleasant and everything was clean, Overall, not a bad place to stay..I have stayed in a lot worse.
There was a slight mix up with our reservation however the owner?/manager? had it sorted out immediately and we were given the requested ground floor room. The room was clean, spacious and had all necessary amenities plus space for my husband to work with ample electrical outlets for him to charge his camera batteries. The bed was comfortable with reasonable quality linens. I would stay here again if we visit North Bay again.
We stayed here on our way home from Thunder Bay and were pleasantly surprised! Breakfast was good, Room was clean bright and roomy with fridge and microwave. Front desk was pleasant and helpful. We will stay here again!
Staff were super friendly. Room was clean , maybe a little dated but clean with very good High Speed Internet. Breakfast included was average I travelled with a Football team and kids loved the pool! No elevator for those needing one(we didn't) but only 2 floors Priced reasonably for a place I wasn't sure about Bed was comfortable * the only problem was I woke up at 1am with A/C not working. I couldn't open the windows as there were no screens???? I informed the front desk and she apologized but no discount or anything. I couldn't complain in the night as I had my 4 year old and it would have been a bigger deal to move rooms at 1am......... I would rate this 3.5 due to this but I had a better than expected experience
