Super 8 Virginia Beach Oceanfront

Recent guest reviews

We have read some other reviews that made us skeptical about staying at this hotel, however, when we arrived we found it was way beyond what we thought we would find. The staff was friendly and courteous, even the cleaning staff asked us if they could give us more towels or pillows, etc. The hotel was very close to the beach, the pool was very clean and the room had a lovely view of the boardwalk and events which made it nice to sit out on the balcony at night. The only thing that we would change is have more parking available, but overall we were pleased with our stay there.

They had me move rooms 2 time during my 3 night stay. Both rooms were in bad condition. Staff was rude, everything was dirty(pool, restrooms, hallways). I would not recommend to anyone.

Staff nice hotel needs a good updating especially the rooms

This isn't the nicest hotel I've ever stayed in, but it was a great value for the money. The staff was very friendly and even helped us upgrade our room to one facing the ocean. It is only a 30 second walk from the beach and the views were stunning. It had everything we needed but wasn't over the top. Would definitely recommend to somebody who is concerned with finding a comfortable room to spend the night on the beach.

Air conditioning units not working in any room pool view units staff went from room to room checking on three different floors. Took about hour and half of time going up and down elevator dragging my stuff finally put win pool view room air worked and had a door to outside Breakfast they were out of coffee and milk for cereal had to go buy breakfast. Room didn't have a coffee maker. First room didn't have a shower curtain

its one of the best on beach for the money you cannot ask for better deal on this SPECIALLY At the beach front. Its not the best hotel but its not one of the worse

Location was great. Staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms and furnishings old and outdated, Beds are very firm. to the point of being hard and uncomfortable.Pool was to cold to swim in my visit was at the end of August and I have never seen a pool this cold at the end of summer.. All pool chairs were broken. The balcony view was beautiful. If you are looking for luxury this is not the place to stay. If you are looking for a basic no frills shower and bed you will be satisfied.

I would have expected a little cleaner establishment for what was charged. But staff was very helpful and have to give them credit...some touch up minor remodeling was going on in lobby and first floor area!

The room had upstairs water from the toliet leaking to our room and it stink so bad. There was no smoke alarm working and the mini refrigerator and microwave wasn't working at all. This was not like I expected from the hotel. The swimming pool we couldn't swim when we first got there it was closed. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone.

The hotel was truly a dump. Large holes under the door. Shower was nasty. The place smelled. No curtains for the outside door. Old tube TV. Poor paint,no carpet, cracks in the wall. Hands down the worst hotel, I've EVER stayed at!!

This place should be burned to the ground. There is mold everywhere as well as a perpetual smell of urine throughout the hotel. The mattress cover had stains and appeared to have not been washed in quite some time. It took three days to get washcloths. The parking is horrid and if you go anywhere, you can count on not having a parking spot when you return. It costs $15 to park for two hours due to early arrival. The breakfast bar is a joke and has one waffle maker, so be prepared to stand in line for an hour for one waffle. The staff seem to not realize that they are in the hospitality industry and could use some serious training on how to conduct themselves towards guests. Had I booked the room with free cancellation I surely would have.

Had a great time and the staff was very nice and a great location and had a great tme

Finding a hotel at Virginia Beach for less than $150 a night, we knew we weren't getting 5 stars. The hotel is a great location, close to lots of shops and restaurants. We only had to drive somewhere once. Which is a good thing since parking was sketchy at best. Upon arrival we had to block cars in just to check in and unload. The one night we went out for dinner came back to no parking open called the front desk and was told to park in the 15 minute parking and just block 2 cars in. Someone would call if we needed to move. Which would have been great had our room had a phone. So it resulted in staff banging on our door at 7 am needing us to move. The room they first gave us was on the first floor little to no view, and lots of outside noise. The front desk lady was very helpful and moved us to the top floor. The room was missing a phone and a hairdryer. The refrigerator had brown ice built up in it, the microwave only about half worked and there were holes in the walls, the hallways and elevators were very warm, smelly and run down. The one elevator for the entire hotel was extremely slow. The pool was small, crowded and very cold. The free breakfast was a mess. The lines were long with only one waffle maker and no one supervising. We only managed to try the cinnamon rolls and OJ. Which were pretty good. All in all we made the best of the location and the beach and didn't stay in the room much so it worked for us. But I wouldn't stay there again or recommend to a friend.

I booked this hotel not knowing that it had changed from the palm grove hotel to the super 8. Reviews for the Palm Grove were not very good to say the least, but we decided to try it anyway since it was only for 2 nights. Overall for the low price we paid the hotel I got what I expected, plus we didn't come to the beach to spend a whole lot of time in the room anyway. -Parking lot wasn't big enough for the number of guests and they charged me $15 to park before the 4pm check in time, which I've never had to pay before. -We were given a first floor room which had tile floors, the amount of sand in the floor made you feel like you were walking on the boardwalk with no shoes on. -Luckily we came without our children, there was only a stand-up shower, no tub so if you have kids I would recommend making sure you get a room with a tub.

Our hotel stay was horrible ! We had to wait almost 10 minutes for a elevator to either get to our floor or to get downstairs to the lobby, due to the fact that there was only ONE elevator at this hotel. We decided to take the staircase & we discovered a few roaches ! We did not have a remote in our room. We went to the front desk & they said that someone will come up to give us one. They came about 30 minutes later ... he tried programming the remote for about 10 minutes & then said Your going to have to figure it out, because I don't know how to do it . We tried programming the remote ourselves, but come to find out that the remote is used only at the hospitals. We did not have enough towels & soap. I would defiantly not stay at this hotel again !

This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. I had to beg for towels, the room was not clean, and there were bedbugs in the room and on the bed. I will never ever step my feet there and will advise others not to do so.

Reported the remote didn't work as soon as we got there, let blown at bed and the other blinked the whole time ready to blow, reported this also, no one eve came to fit, had to ask for towels two days and soap the last day. The maid asked if our room needed attending and we said yes, she cleaned without leaving towels or soap.

Check in was fast. The lobby was clean! The smell in the hall un believable awful and the hall, all around the ice machine was flooded plus no ice! Our room was clean, no bad odor, hole over bath tub needed a door. Parking was across the street a half a block away plus it wasn't enough for the number of guess the hotel had booked. The Internet was free because it didn't work half the time. The hotel was on the beach. Our room of the ocean view we booked changed by the hotel to a view of the small pool in the alley across the hall out of the window. About midnight a knock on the door a staff member told me the tow truck almost tow my Mercedes but thank goodness didn't and would I move it closer to the trash dumpster but then dumpster couldn't be emptied by the trash truck. My car would have been in the way. I couldn't move the car, my son was night fishing in the ocean. When he returned to go down and move the car, we checked out. But all this makes for memories. The family had a wonderful time at the ocean. My daddy says you get what you pay for - this was cheap. Question - will we stay here again...NO!

Nothing special about this hotel. Was good for a quick overnight trip to the beach. The location is good. The staff was very friendly and they were quick to fix a concern we had with the room.

The hotel was nice and clean and right on the ocean front with the balcony
