Nails were sticking out of the doorframe where trim had been. They need to freshen up the exterior and elevator. Old AC units were stored at the bottom of the stairwell. Rust visible in several places. The room was cool, clean, and comfortable, but housekeeping should pay closer attention to the floor in the corners and behind the doors

we stayed in their 2 bedroom efficiency room and it was horrible. 2nd bedroom in the back was hot with no air conditioned and had a very old fan. Literally impossible to sleep in that room. Window air conditioned only cooled the front room/area. Kitchen was very very tiny and the faucet was literally not working and when called to get it fixed at 2p was said maintenance is gone for the day. Coffee maker in the room had no pot. Had a faulty bathroom flush. After using it have to wait for 5 mins to work or sometimes doesn't work also. Had very bad experience. Will never ever stay in this place again.

Hotel met my standards, seeing the price and pictures compared to other local hotels I knew what we were getting into. The hotel staff were very friendly, location was great for the price (able to walk to lots of restaurants/shops and across the street from beach). We were there for only one night and enjoyed our stay.

the rooms were okay, but very small. could touch the bathroom ceiling and I'm 5'4. thought it was advertised as a beachfront, but it was across atlantic from the beach. Not a bad walk, just was expecting a little more especially from the pictures on the website. exterior appeared to need repairing or was in process of upgrades, not sure.

The best part is the location of the hotel. Parking space in the hotel is limited. No breakfast option. However rooms are good and it was clean.

Great family value and stay for me and my 4 grandchildren

Upon arrival our room was ready and extremely clean!! The ocean is just across the steet. A VERY short easy walk. There is a bicycle rental right across the street on the boardwalk. There's also a pancake house and a small beach convenient store right next to the front of the hotel. There's south to do at VA Beach. We went parasailing at Rudee's Inlet. There's tons of stuff there to do. Get your coupons!! (They are on every block) We also went to the Aquarium and took a Dolphin boat cruise from there (cheap). And YES, we saw a ton of Dolphins. You can't beat the location and room!! All staff were friendly and helpful. I really loved the washer and dryers in the breezeway. You can buy soap at the front desk. Just go and stay!!

Hotel was nice great location for the price. Ice maker had some issues and our fridge wasn't cold. As soon as we let them know it was fixed.

My son and I went on vacation to Virginia Beach for four days and stayed at the Royal Clipper. The location was great, a block away from the boardwalk. It is located on the upper end of the boardwalk, most of the action was further done. The hotel offered no breakfast so we tried to eat at the Pocahontas restaurant on the corner from us but was lined up out the door everyday. There was a couple donut shops around but we just went to Krogers and got some food to put in the little fridge in the hotel room since we had a microwave. The swimming pool was small but nice enough to get wet in. They had construction going on after being there two days so half of the front parking lot was roped off not able to use. There was a parking lot in the back. Airplanes going over at all hours of day and night. Very noisy.Must have been something going on at one of the bases, jets going through one after the other.

This place is in good location, but has come of age. The value for the cost is way off

Everything I would have expected or needed for my one night stay. The room was clean, everything worked, bed was comfortable. They did have some construction work happening but that never really bothered me. Presumably the place will be even better when that's done. All in all a nice experience.

some friends and I booked this hotel to come down for a long weekend, the location was perfect, right across the street from the beach, especially for the price compared to the oceanfront hotel prices. the hotel was very clean which is always a must for me when staying in a hotel. the only thing I was unaware of was how small the room and bathroom area was, for 4 people in this room it was quite tight but overall I was pleased with our stay at this hotel.

Great location stayed for 3 nights with my wife, over all it was ok. my only complaint is that I checked in late around 9pm and was given a different room than I had booked. The room was an upgrade but there was no elevator for those rooms and I was on the 3rd floor, had I gotten the original room I booked we wouldn't have had that issue because that side does have an elevator and we would have had a king size bed instead of a full which was uncomfortable. Nevertheless we still managed to make it work, I guess if you don't check in early or on time they give your room away. When I told the lady at the front desk she made it seem like I shouldn't be complaining because I supposely got a better room. The cleaning/maintenance staff was great, they were all very nice and always greeted us when they saw us around.

This is our second time staying here. Both experiences have been very good. The staff is friendly and the room is clean. On both stays we have had rooms that you can look at the window and see the beach and ocean. Not all rooms in the hotel have this view, but it's been an added bonus. The walk to the beach is short (only have to cross Atlantic) and you're there. It's also in easy walking distance to shops and restaurants. The price is very good when compared to other hotels on the oceanfront. We will be staying there the next time we go to VA beach.

I believe the stay was adequate with average results. Taking in the age of this structure then the outside noises and the room to room noises are to be expected. The elevator is extremely slow. The employees were very nice and the parking was good. The location is central to most of the best hotels and therefore to many good restaurants.

Nothing fancy but no surprises either. Older hotel but clean. Good location, across the street from beach front hotel. Good eateries within walking distance. Two good on-the-beach party locations within 4 blocks. We spent two nights and are looking forward to doing it again. Probable at same hotel for the value.

Very good experiens, very good location and good price.

It's a great place to stay. We visit Virginia Beach every year and we always stay at this hotel. It's cheap, it's clean, it's super close to the beach (right across the street) and the staff is very friendly.

I meet my need and very close to the beach. Room clean. staff was friendly

Spent one night as I passed through. Staff were very nice and helpful. Hotel was dated but you can tell they had remodeled. Decent room and great location. Slow elevator.
