Usual pros and cons for this chain. On the plus side good sized rooms, comfy beds, hard working and polite staff. On the downside noisy air-con, lack of character, poor bar selection and ripoff prices. I don't normally eat where the catering manager is too idle to keep a cask ale. On this occasion I did as I was on a package. Dining room was badly designed with no sound deadening materials. When full even a low level of chatter made it very noisy, so you had to speak loud making it worse. Food was generally OK, occasionally good and sometimes awful. On one night Beef Bourguignon was on the menu, but the bit of nondescript beef stew on the plates lacked key ingredients and as result did not let alone taste like the French classic. It is attached to Norwich City football ground some way out of the city centre, so is a good 10 to 15 minute walk to find an alternative place to eat and drink.
We stayed at this Hotel over the Christmas period as part of a group on a Rail Discoveries holiday. Having stayed at Holiday Inn many times in numerous locations this one is no different in what it offers and the standards of the rooms and public areas were absolutely fine as expected. However the standard of catering left a great deal to be desired. Food could best be described as of an institutional standard. Plates were plonked down in front of you and the presentation was poor. Vegetables were generally overcooked and the meat tasteless. The food was often merely warm, and to make matters worse we had to wait quite some time before being served. I would suggest that the main reason for the problems was overbooking as the dining room was full to capacity and staff were visibly stretched.
We stayed just for one night as my wife’s Xmas party was in delias restaurant so this was perfect location and we were not disappointed.loved the room and the style of the hotel. It’s not ideal if you want to be close to main shopping centre but was ideal for us.
Very clean hotel & presented well. Like how they make an effort in making your stay as nice as possible. All the staff are very friendly on all the occasions i have visited which is allot with work. Really enjoy staying her
Holiday Inn is in front of Norwich football ground and short walk into very lovely walled city. This hotel is very comfortable modern with staff that make a really good choice for hotel and should be commended as go out of their way to help are presentable friendly and ideal for hotel industry good peoples persons. Bed room area very clean good house keeping comfortable modern and some at back overlook football ground but at front when match is played not too noisy as good double glazing. Menus have nice selection to pick from and good bar as are modern bright clean well lit lounge and bar but dining room like many dim lit when dining some if eyesight poor difficult to read menus. Overall very happy stay nothing negative I can think of to say as had positive most enjoyable stop here good sleep plenty of tea biscuits etc in room large television good views from windows very modern clean good service staff and city stop over very hospitable good area not too far from everything and good parking
From checking to checking out I can't fault this place, reception area is spacious & clean, staff were excellent, the room was again very clean, the bed is very comfortable, tea / coffee facilities (as with all hotels not enough milk but you only have to ask for more), shower was very good & room temp was just right, The bar & restaurant were good, again friendly staff, breakfast was good, plenty to choose from, Carpark is charged extra (£5.95) but make sure you register it or it's £100 fine,
One of the best Holiday Inns we’ve ever stayed at. The staff stand out as they really seem to want to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Our room was quite large and had a good bed and more importantly it was very clean. We had breakfast and dinner one night at the hotel and the food and service was second to none. It’s located right at the football ground which was quite unique but there was no match on whilst we were there. About 10- 15 minutes from the city centre. Highly recommended by us.
This is the 3rd time we stop here and the hotel is still the same standard and the staff are v good and helpful The breakfast was v good look forward to coming back The hotel is part of the football ground which is ok even when there a match on Also there are shop about 5 mins away with eating house
Overall an excellent hotel and couldn't really find any fault with it. Rooms were clean, comfortable and reasonably sized with a decent bathroom. Good bar and restaurant with friendly helpful staff. Decent buffet breakfast. Close to the railway station (5 min walk) and not too far from Norwich town centre (15 min walk). It was a very enjoyable stay
I was at the Holiday Inn for a course on Friday. Parking was free, the room was comfortable and there was plenty of tea, coffee and water. At lunch time we went to the restaurant to eat. I am dairy free so asked if there was anything I could eat. The member of staff on duty went and spoke to the chef who produced a very tasty vegetable curry. He then asked if I would like fruit salad and dairy free ice cream. They brought it to my table, I was very well looked after and they didn't make me feel as though it was too much trouble for them.
