Esplendor Resort at Rio Rico

Don't rely on their website for info....a fire destroyed the lobby and restaurants (it is now covered by ugly fencing and caution tape and it seems that the golf course is no longer part of the resort itself and according to people that played it while we were there, the course is in need of major upkeep. This is not a resort any longer, IMO...more of a hotel. An average one. But you can see that it must have been special at one time.

great stay, friendly and courtious staff, very relaxed atmosphere, enjoyd the sunrise and sunsets..

I first encountered mildew and mold in the shower the morning after I arrived. I asked the front desk to have housekeeping clean the bathroom, but after a long day out, I arrived to my room at 8:00PM to a dirty room. Nothing had been done. I called the front desk and they sent maintenance and I had to change room. There was not offer to help me move my luggage nor assistance. The next day I had breakfast at their restaurant and my coffee was cold, the eggs were cold, the beans in the dish were dried up and cold. Overall, my experience at this resort was 1/2 star. Only reason I gave them a half star was because the views were amazing.

They have great suites and beautiful rooms. The pools are great and they have a hot tub.

I was looking for a quaint place to stay on a mountain biking weekend in Patagonia. I ended up choosing this place because it was billed as a "resort" and the amenities seemed like a nice upgrade over Patagonia's B&B's. I was wrong! Honestly, the place just simply run down and not clean. We were welcomed with a used cigarette but on the welcome mat which was never picked up during our stay. Each bed only had 1 pillow and neither seemed particularly clean. Old "tube" television. Lackluster food and service. Do yourself a favor and stay nearer to Patagonia and Nogales.

Hotel staff was very friendly upon check in. The restraunt staff was very friendly, but a bit slow in customer service. The menu at the hotel restraunt was OK and the food was very average.

Had a fun experience & great view from the 3rd floor. Everything was awesome.....but left my Kindle there. Waiting to see if they ship it to me in a timely manner. If so, I'll feel like it was a mostly perfect stay.

Nice location, little tired around the edges. Great breakfast close by at the Nickel Grille.

This hotel was a nice one-night getaway. For the price I paid, it was a good deal. The room was not fantastic at all. But the restaurant, staff and other amenities were great. Which made the overall experience just fine.

I was billed by this website as well as the hotel. The hotel did not give me a receipt for the charges they billed me later. Numerous calls later, they hotel realized the double billing and removed their charges. Please make sure you check your credit card statement after the stay.

Their website is fantastic to review, when arriving beautiful entrance, beautiful pool area, beautiful views of the area however they are giving themselves more credit that is the value. The gym area - is more for decoration (bicycle one pad was broken - no water available, the sauna was so noisy and working more or less). The room was more than ordinary as the bed, bathroom and coffee was just OK. However I did appreciate free wireless. Be ready to pass the check point (border patrol).

Stayed here because we wanted to play golf in Rio rico. Must have been and outstanding property in the 1950's but has not been upgraded since then. Could be an outstanding property with some tlc and investment. Staff was very good. however eveything else out of date. Stayed on third floor no elevators .. was good exercise getting everthing up and down stairs. Would not stay again.

Just be prepared for a long drive to Tucson. I booked it while searching for resorts nearby but this one is about 10 miles north of Mexico! Resort overall is quite ordinary

Great staff support! Made the hectic wedding experience a lot more enjoyable.

Just not really close to very much, but a nice quiet hotel and staff very helpful

The location is away from everything so expect to be required to travel. The first disturbing thing is a note on the front door stating clothing was required throughout the resort. I really did not expect anything like this. Our first night, there was a sign at the restaurant stating it had been reserved by someone else. I guess I wasn't as important as them. This kinda ticked me off. The pool was dirty and had palm leaves in it for several days. When I finally saw someone cleaning it, I saw what I thought looked like a show taken out of one of the filters. Guess that was why it was dirty. Although we were one of at most 20 people at the resort, the maid service was spotty at best and I actually had to ask for it the last night we were there. They tried bribing me with a 7 dollar bottle of wine and comped us dinner. All in all, very disappointing for a resort which considers itself high class. Never did see any naked people but when I complained, I was told that the locals use it and that's why the sign was there. Not at all what I expected. I would pass on them and go somewhere else.

They advertise a wonderful heated pool, all year around, which was the main reason I booked the room, but when we arrived I found the pool ice cold and dirty. I was informed by the desk that the pipes broke back in January and they hadn't fixed it yet. They are claiming an big amenity that they do not in fact provide.

We where very comfortable there and the staff was very friendly. We loved how quite the area was and will be going back there again.

Great stuff we should all should try it Great food and accommodation quiet environment and a good trail for a walk. great staff who know their job well

quite place, good to take a walk outside the trail, sauna, steam room and gym should open 24/7
