Stayed here a couple nights with family. Superior twin rooms were decent size, certainly recommend over standard twin. Our rate included breakfast which is excellent, can enjoy traditional Japanese or Western breakfast. Lots and lots of choices, including omelet chef. Location is great, as it's close walking distance to the main shopping area (Loft, Isetan), Niigata Station, and the many local restaurants between the station and the hotel. Much better than staying across the river, where that part of the city has lost much of its vibrancy over the years. Service is outstanding. Rooms are a little dated, still using retro center console between the beds for air conditioning and lighting, and it didn't seem like we could change the temperature, just the velocity. Still a good choice though.
Was trying to book a hotel in Nagaoka for the fireworks but unsuccessful! As I am a platinum IHG member, I decided to give this hotel a try. IHG hotel can not be bad, especially in Japan. The walking distance from JR Niigata station is not far at all. About 5 min for me. I was thinking of getting a hotel near the station. I am glad that I chose this hotel finally. The hotel is just next to shopping areas with Isetan, Loft and etc. There is a Mac Donald and 2 convenient store nearby. Oh, the famous sushi restaurant Benke at Pier Bandai is just less than 10min walk from the hotel. That was also one reason I chose this hotel. Benke sushi is a must if you visit Niigata city. On the hotel itself, the property is well maintained in my view. Very friendly staffs like Shimada Chihiro san, who provided me on various information on the location of stores / restaurant etc. The front desk staffs was friendly and checking in was fast. There was one day I left the room with the Key still inside the room and I used the phone on the floor to ask for help. The front desk sent someone to my floor in less than 1 min. As a platinum member, I was allowed to do late checkout to suit my JR train timing. The staffs took great Pride and Passion in serving us! Will certainly stay here again if I happen to be in Niigata again. I always like hotels close to JR train station and this hotel is location close enough.
Booked our room through a third party website for a really good price, didn't really look the hotel up too much before; first of all, it's massive. Big building with a lot of rooms. The room itself was much, much better than expected. It was big and the bed was big as well and also very comfortable. I expected a slightly bigger room than in a buisness hotel, but this was much better. Bathroom also had a decent size and since it's Niigata you can get a really good price for the room. It's walkable from the train station (10 minutes) or 3 minutes by taxi. Both are good options. Waterfront is quite near, another 10 minute walk. Can only recommend this one if you stay in Niigata. And one of the better Crowne Plaza's I've stayed in.
Slight far from the railway station, but reasonably quiet, very nice view to the channel and the port. Service is very very nice, food are great too. Room are large and comfortable, Lovvveee ANA-Crowne bed! they are so comfy
The Crowne Plaza is located about 10 minutes walk from Niigata station (or a 590 Yen taxi fare). With hindsight the location is convenient for travel but it is some distance from the Old Town where there are plenty of restaurants, bars and tourist sites. The hotel service is exceptionally good: to a person the customer dacing staff are knowledagable, helpful and very welcoming. The bedrooms are on the small side but are spotless. The beds are firm and very comfortable. The bathroom ws a reasonable size and looked to have been recently refurbished. We ate out most evenings so only had breakfast in the hotel. The buffet offered a wide range of food from local specialities to western omelettes and cereals. The only real failing is a lack of a gym or fitness centre. In summary, we had a very good, comfortable stay here.
Great Hotel and Centrally Located. Right in the middle of shopping area and restaurants. Easy walk to the river. Rooms are clean and spacious. A/C is cold. Excellent staff. You can also taxi anywhere. Great walk to Niigata Eki and back. Many stores and shops along the way. I would stay here again!
Dont bother to ask for an upgrade even you are their top tier loyal member, as they will make all sort of excuses not to give you an upgrade. Standard business hotel. Clean. Bed was comfortable. Toilet is small. Breakfast was OK only. It can be very busy as this is a crew used hotel too.
We were here for two separate one-night stays in April 2016, going to and returning from Sado Island. We were also here ten years ago, when it was the Hotel Niigata, and not a lot has changed. Both our rooms were twins, facing the plaza in front of the hotel, with a very fine view. They were not large, but adequate. The beds were firm and comfortable. There was a safe and a refrigerator, but no pants press or iron. There was a good work desk, and a table and easy chairs. I used only the wired internet access: it was quick and effective. The big shortcoming of both rooms was that there was no air conditioning - apparently not yet turned on, although there was A/C in the public areas. The rooms were hot and stuffy, although the weather was not particularly hot. The bathrooms seemed quite new and well-equipped. It was a conventional western layout, with a large counter with lots of room to lay out toiletries. The lights and mirror were the best arrangement for a shave or makeup that we found in Japan. There are no nearby restaurants, so we took two breakfasts and two suppers in the hotel. The buffet breakfast is good, with a reasonable selection both of Japanese and western dishes. There were a few good dishes not encountered before in the Japanese breakfast - cod roe served on a pottery spoon, salty pickled squid, an excellent pickle made from daikon smeared with wasabi then rolled in yuba. All the dishes were labelled in English, a great help. For supper one night we went to the “order buffet” held in the same room as the breakfasts. It was not well attended. It was a strange, confusing arrangement - there were a selection, not really large, of buffet items, but one ordered a small main course - then a separate plate of roast beef also appeared! Taste was good, but it was pricey for what was offered. The other night we went to the hotel’s Japanese restaurant, Kura, and chose a set menu for hotel guests of many small dishes, including sashimi, tempura and cooked pork belly on cabbage. The meal was good and the price reasonable. I would have rated the hotel higher except for the lack of air conditioning in the bedrooms.
We stayed for 3 nights in a twin room. The room is clean and comfortable with a view of the river. The hotel has a cake shop on the ground floor and a Japanese restaurant and coffee shop/breakfast restaurant. It is an easy 5 minute walk to the shopping centre. McDonalds is even closer, opposite the Loop bus stop. We had a lovely dinner in the Teppanyaki restaurant.
Good hotel with good service (offered umbrellas to borrow when raining). Nice selection for buffet breakfast. Rooms clean and spacious with a view looking over the river. About a 10min walk from Niigata Station.
