My friend and I decided to stay another night after a wedding, but we were on the cheap side. We came to this hotel, which had rooms available, but I didn't realize the state in which the hotel was in. When we entered the room, the floor felt like it was going to cave in. The mattress bed needed a new one, I felt the springs poking my back, and you could also hear it each time you moved on the bed. Need to go to the bathroom? *squeak squeak* Turning the heater on? *squeak squeak* The upside, its right next to a Sonics! Lol
This hotel was very conveniently located near great restaurants and malls. The room was also surprisingly quiet. The front desk service was courteous and polite. The room, however, was very poor. It’s as if they had done repairs but just completed the bare minimum to fix things. The bathroom especially had bare plaster and drywall. The tile on the steps to the tub were chipped. It was fine for an overnight place to sleep which is what we needed but it certainly wasn’t beautiful.
Pretty good location for restaurants, fast food, and some bars, but it is the hotel you get for the price. The service was okay and I had no problems with the staff. There is a microwave and a fridge. My bathroom tile moved, but everything was functional. It's just a $50 hotel. If you want to go cheap, it's fine. I'd probably stay there again if needed. Air conditioning is good and works. Wifi is actually pretty good. I'm in an extended stay hotel as I write this review and Key West's internet is 1000 times better.
My husband and I stayed at the Key West Inn, 06/04/17 - 06/09/17. While he was at the conference I stayed at our room. The housekeeping services was great. Especially, Ms. Nickki she took care of our room. She is a jewel. Caution! Watch out for cars entering in from the main road. God Bless!
We stayed here while we were in town visiting family and friends. The room smelled old and musty. The carpeting was dirty. There was a dirty towel on the bathroom floor that had obviously been there to clean up a leak and had been there for some time. The bath tub was quite slippery and made me pretty nervous. Otherwise, the room was acceptable. My biggest problem that the room seemed much more expensive than advertised and the clerk didn't tell me how much before he charged my card. I may not have stayed there if I had known the price before the swipe.
I have stayed at this hotel twice due to out of town business. Rooms have been available with little notice and they have been clean. My boyfriend had a job In Newport News that ran over and required an overnight stay. He was able to walk in with no notice, late at night, and a room was available. The owners are courteous and helpful. Granted, the rooms could use some upgrades, but for the price, it's hard to complain.
I decided to stop in Newport News on a whim. I didn't have a reservation, but thought I could find a hotel. Every hotel chain I called was booked, so finally I tried the Key West Inn. They had a room - not a cheap room- it cost within a couple of dollars of what the chain hotels were charging but I needed a room. The hotel still allows smoking and the room smelled of smoke. When I turned on the light there were roaches. One was on the curtains and one crawling along the wall and who knows how many I didn't see. The room had no real amenities and the carpet was stained and the room in overall disrepair and dirty. There was one sheet and a thin comforter on the bed. It too was stained so I pulled it off and used as towel as a 'blanket'. It is probably the worst, dirtiest hotel I have stayed at in the US.
We needed to find a room when we got in early to the area. We had a reservation in Williamsburg, for the following night, and couldn't find a room in Williamsburg for that night. After calling many places, we found the Key West Inn. The manager was very helpful, and friendly. We booked the room by phone so that we could get dinner, and then head over to Newport News later in the evening. Upon arriving, she was able to quickly get us a room. When we got to the room, it is what you would expect, just a couple beds and a TV. The AC took a while to cool the room down, and there was a lot of blemishes, but overall I would say that the room was clean. Just a very no frills location. It sits right next to a Sonic, and just up the street from an IHOP, so the location is good. Overall it was exactly what we wanted, just a place to sleep so that we could get back to the Williamsburg area. Breakfast was just a continental, so nothing exciting there. I would say that if you are in need of just the basics, it is a safe option.
this is a quiet place and everything you need is around you. this place is clean and we have had no problems with the staff or any person staying there.we have been staying at this inn one weekend out of the month for over a year now and we are pleased with it.
Decent for the price, a friend of mine stayed there...we reserved a week before . There was no check in time on the reservation so we checked in around 9:30 am, at our surprise a room was available but we had to pay $25 dollars extra to get the room. Since we were tired ... we said yes... room clean and presentable, bathroom ok... staff ok so what... neighborhood safe ...
