Someone else in the family handled all of the communications with management so I cannot speak to that. However, I can say that the pool and townhouse were in very good condition. They were clean and you can tell there has been incremental updates to things over time. A cool, but weird thing in the bedroom is that the headboards are made from wooden blinds, but they are real so they make noise every time your or the pillow touches them. There is more storage in this place then you could ever ask for. I don't know how anyone could even use all the storage on a vacation. The bedrooms are also spacious. The location is close to some things by car, but is not really in a location where you would want to walk to places.
In the living room of one of 19 units in this very isolated yet near everything you need in Jamestown, mhy wife and I are enjoying some cocktails and cheese not hearing the bridge that seems to bother others. It is very quiet and peaceful, with only a smattering of other guests on the property. The units, as mentioned, are quite large with a layout of the lower level housing the master bedroom and bath, along with the laundry room. The upper level holds the second bedroom, bath, kitchen, dining, and living room with a slider to the small deck looking out over the grounds, and Narragansett Bay. Off the bedroom on the lower level is a patio with a gas grill (although ours ran out of fuel the first night I tried to use it). Jamestown is a beautiful area in and of itself, and the proximity to Newport makes it a perfect getaway from the hectic pace of every day life. Make time to enjoy Newport Overlook, you won't be sorry.
Our brief stay in the Jamestown/Newport area was at Wyndham Newport Overlook! What a beautiful set of rooms and great waterfront view! If my wife and I ever make it up to the area again, we'll definitely see if we can stay here again. Loved it.
My wife and I head out to Jamestown a couple of times a year. It doesn't have the hustle bustle of Newport but Newport is just a couple minutes over the bridge should we want to venture forth. We usually head there in late winter/early spring. This year, we were there on possibly one of the coldest weekends of the year. The staff, awesome, very friendly and even let us in early.. that might not be the same in mid-summer rush, but its still nice. Views are stunning, looking out over snow covered scrub brush.. it was VERY easy to put my feet up and relax. The condo is humongous. Very clean and well maintained. Nothing broken, leaky/squeaky, etc. One issue... The heat is a heat pump variety and it takes quite a bit to keep this massive place warm... this would not normally be an issue. Location is great, just down the road from great eats and shopping in Jamestown and just over the bridge from Newport. My wife and I have found our new Jamestown location.
We enjoyed our recent stay at the Wyndham Overlook. The two bedroom condo was large and very comfy; the entire downstairs consists of a huge master suite and laundry. We enjoyed sitting on the back deck and watching the birds and wildlife in the wooded area, while being able to view the boats on the water. The view of the harbor lights at night was especially enjoyable. The town of Jamestown is very quaint, but has a few very nice restaurants. I especially appreciated Slice of Heaven cafe for their delicious gluten free pastries and meals. We went over the bridge each day to visit Newport, which was very convenient and lovely. I would definitely recommend staying here for a relaxing visit to beautiful Rhode Island.
This was a very good size place to stay. We had a huge condo with everything that you could imagine in it. Would stay there again. We went off season and the price was right. It was 2 floors, 2 bathrooms. Washer, dryer, garage. Perfect.
A nice resort right by the bridge to Newport. It location is perfect , close to everything . Minutes to town, and close to newport, but you are not paying the high prices for accommodations that you would pay to stay in newport.
The Jamestown Wyndham Overlook is nice but a bit quirky. There are 19 2-bedromm townhouse units. All the units are clean and appointed in the expected Wyndham style, but although situated right on Jamestown Harbor, only 5 units face the water and the end units on two of the buildings do not have a balcony. However, it is easy to see the water from the small deck each unit has and accessible to walk down to the water's edge. You can fish off the rocks on the resort grounds with varying results. I watched a number of bunnies, a skunk and a beaver all walk past our patio doors our first night there. The internet at the Overlook was very good, free and easy to connect to. Our unit was at the end, so we had no balcony or skylights in the upstairs bedroom. The units facing the water have a spectacular view of the bridge and harbor from the windows and deck - if you can reserve one of those it is definitely a plus! The hotel is really close (almost under) the Pell bridge that leads to Newport ($4 each way for a car). Our unit was quiet - no bridge noise that bothered us. The pool is nice but located in the parking lot and close to the trash dumpsters - an odd spatial layout. After hours (after 4PM) you have to check in at the sister Wyndham hotel about 1/4 mile away. The sister Wyndham hotel has a bar and a very good and reasonably priced restaurant in it called the Bay Voyage The restaurant veranda has a great view of Newport Harbor (we ate there twice). The food was excellent and the specials almost too good to be true - on Monday and Tuesday a prixe fixe menu for $19.95 per person and on Wednesday an Italian prixe fixe for $49.95 per couple including a tasty bottle of wine. I definitely recommend eating there! The Overlook offered very easy access to Jamestown and downtown Newport. All in all, we enjoyed our 5 day stay.
The location is amazing--almost beneath the bridge to Newport--yet no noise can be heard and you are RIGHT on the water. Rocky cliffs border on the East, and there is nothing but field grass and woods surrounding the rest of the property. With only 19 condos at this resort, the quiet atmosphere provides true relaxation. All units are two bedroom--both masters on two different floors. The lower master walks out to a small patio with a grill and that level also houses the laundry. Upstairs houses another bath, kitchen, bedroom and family room. There is also an accessible deck. The town is within walking distance and features wonderful shops and restaurants. The resort has a pool.
Beautiful, comfortable, fully equipped and spacious. We got the best view (unit 16). Wi-Fi is excellent. People are friendly. BBQ at the unit. If you don't want to go out you can spend the whole day in the comfort of your unit. I will definitely stay here again and again.
