    About this property

10 Steps And You're In Sebasticook Lake. This Is Where You Go To Unplug

Picture this; A rural dirt road leads you through the woods, past cottages dotting the edge of Sebasticook Lake. After a half mile you'll see on your left a line of boulders that set the scene for your entry to Quilt Maker Cottage. This sweet little cottage sits nestled in the trees. A horseshoe drive goes around the perimeter of the level, almost acre, lawn. Perfect for playing Corn-hole, Croquet, Badminton, Horseshoes, or just run with the kids or dog. Yes I did say dog. This cottage is only dog friendly. Sorry, no kitties, reptiles, hedgehogs, or other fancy critters allowed. Contract with owner has stipulations. This cottage is 600 square feet in size, and has been completely remodeled. Open floor plan with full size appliances in the kitchen. The pantry can hold just about anything you want to put in there. Head up the 'pure cottage' stairs to the master bedroom. A wall of windows with white sheer curtains that waft in the breeze is waiting at the top. From the Queen size bed the first thing you see in the morning and last thing you see at night is beautiful Sebasticook Lake, while you listen to the water lapping the shore and the Loons sing their songs. Why does this cottage have 'Quilt Maker' in the title? Because you will see there are handmade quilts everywhere for your warmth and to take you back in time to Grandma's house. There's even a sewing machine if you're in the mood to work on a project.:) Back downstairs is a full bathroom with tub/shower, stack washer/dryer, and a cool porthole window that opens. The living room has a queen sofa sleeper, TV, Bluray DVD player and large selection of movies. Bring your own games and hook them up to the TV. There are board games also. No WIFI as of yet but cellular service is great. No cable service but 6 -7 channels are crystal clear with one being a National channel. Large L shaped, sleeping porch, can sleep 2 more on full size bed that is inside of a Privacy Pop. It's an indoor tent. Also on the porch you will find a dining table for 4, 2 more sofas and 1 chair. Now the best part! 10 steps and you're in the lake! Boat Dock, 2 kayaks, 2 paddle boards, paddle boat, and a campfire pit(wood provided) for those evenings to tell scary stories. There are two areas for outdoor dining. There is a large platform with dining table, a picnic table and a gas grill for those fun cookouts. There is a hammock, and the sunsets are remarkable! Newport is centrally located in the state of Maine and is within 90 minute drive to Bar Harbor, 30 minutes to Bangor Airport, two hours to Portland airport and is about 1 mile to Anglers Seafood Restraunt. Best seafood for the seafood lover! Sebasticook Lake is the largest lake (4,288 acres) within the confines of an individual municipality in the State of Maine. The lake provides for many recreational activities: swimming, boating, fishing, and snowmobiling. Both lake and its shores provide habitats for several wildlife species, such as sea run alewives, smelts, smallmouth bass, white perch, black crappie, and many bird species.

    Say Yes to this rental

This adorable cabin is right on the water. I have never stayed at a place this close to the waters edge. It has everything you would want with just a couple of exceptions. There are plenty of outdoor activities (fishing off the dock, paddleboat, kayaking, SUP, having an evening campfire, etc.) , plus games and an excellent movie library for rainy days. The only thing this property doesn't have is WiFi and cable (or satellite) so you only get maybe 6 tv channels (CBS, PBS, CW, PBS kids and maybe a couple of others). We ended up changing our phone plan to unlimited data. If you plan on completely disconnecting then this is the perfect place for you. Unfortunately, we needed to stay connected so we also spent a bunch of time at McDonalds and Dunkin Donuts where there is free wifi. For us the many, many positives far outweighed those two things. The bed was the most comfortable bed I have slept in outside of my own. The view can not be matched and there were wild blueberries right outside the back door. The biggest bonuses were the bald headed eagles, herons and loons we saw on a daily basis. We took several day trips to the coast as well as just relaxing at the lake. One other thing to note is that the stairs to the bedroom are narrow and there is no railing (no room for one) and with the bathroom downstairs could be an inconvenience if you have arthritis (which I do - but i managed). Overall we would highly recommend.

    Great place

We really enjoyed our stay. All we had to bring was our clothes and personal things. Nice time of year to visit Me.

    We had a perfect week!

This immaculately clean cabin was a perfect retreat for me, my husband and our dog Harper. We went for walks and long drives to enjoy the peak foliage of early October. We had great take-out dinners from the local restaurants (Anglers, Harvest Moon Deli and Cervesas Southwest Grill are so good!). We enjoyed a wide range of typical New England weather from 80 degree days to a windy and rainy 50 degree day. The cabin is homey and very well appointed. The screened front porch was wonderful for reading, relaxing and dining. Most importantly, the owner's quilted blankets and wall hangings were a treat to the eyes. All in all - this was a perfect retreat for us!

    Absolutely Lovely

My husband, our pug Dilly and myself stayed for 2 weeks. We had the most amazing time! The cottage was beyond our expectations! Plenty of fun things to do swim, fish, paddle boat or just swing in the hammock. I highly recommend this little piece of heaven to anyone who wants to relax, have fun and enjoys peace and quiet. Can’t wait to return next year!!! Absolutely perfect!
