Howard Johnson Hotel Newark Airport

Shuttle, excellent.Rooms cleanliness could be improved.

The price is good; but unless you completely ran out of money on your trip stay elsewhere! The staff was completely unwelcoming. The non smoking room was clean and comfortable but wreaked of stale cigarettes in my non smoking room. Coming back from the warmth and graciousness of a trip to SE Asia and Infia I found the experience at this hotel to be totally depressing. I wanted to close my eyes and dream I was back in Asia. This hotel reinforces the poor impression that NJ has. If President Trump wants to make America great again,he can use this hotel as the minimum base level.

Staff not nice, beds horrible sinks in and makes noise, structures inside need remodeling

Nothing special, but "did the trick" for 2 nights. Food could be ordered from the small restaurant in the hotel (service was slow, but they could have been short staffed due to the snowstorm that day). Room was basic, and needs updating. Close to the airport (heard a lot of planes). Parking was $15 per day.

I was coming in from out of the country and had not reactivated my phone service, so I was relying on the internet to get in contact with my family. The internet was not working in my room I have a feeling it's because I was placed at the very end of the hall, super far away from the modem/router(I'm not very tech savvy, so forgive me if I am incorrect on the equipment), because as soon as I stepped in the lobby-Voila! It was working perfectly. I called the desk about the issue, but it was not resolved during my stay. Other than that the stay was cool. The shuttle driver was so nice!

Dust and small holes throughout the room. Beds were so hard, the flood was softer to sleep on. Bathtub faucet was not connected and hung out of the wall. Entire lobby and hallways had strong musty odor. Hear roaring of planes as they came over the hotel to airport. Daily Parking fee was charged at check in but not mentioned in phone call/reservation. Staff never smiled and English was hard to understand! Elevators were out of service. Only decent thing was the restaurant pizza!

Broken sink, dirty bath tube. Horrible and filthy

Comfortable stay. Shuttle to airport both to and from were quick and easy.

We only had a few yours of sleep before taking an early flight from EWR so this hotel was fine. The shuttle runs every half hour. The room is OK, mattresses a little worn out, though. Front desk staff had someone come and bring an extra towel and fix the lamp in no time

Well kept up , clean hotel a few minutes to Newark Airport. Had to catch an early flight overseas, hotel shuttle was prompt, and friendly both pickup and departure. Will certainly stay here again for any future layovers!

Everything was very convenient and the restaurant was very nice, front desk clerks was very with help with info.

The staff was courteous and helpful. The food and service in the resturant was excellent. The computer in the business center was a piece of crap!

Terrible service no air in hallways hot and smelly, housekeeping had to be called three times. when need of utensils and plates they give you plastic and Styrofoam. When you have package deal through orbits they have you pay parking daily 15.00 a day, and rental they put a hold of 200 dollars. Thinking we have a package deal you think you dfont have to spend more money, and you end up spending more.ask for special request on website we ordered a fan in room they say there's no such thing to accommodate. This place I would never recommend to anyone. We would like to get a refund on our hotel stsy.

Don't book this hotel. Not worth the stress! Hotel is filthy and falling apart. Bad location

Enjoyed my hotel stay, and staff was pleasant. Howard Johnson was peaceful and quiet, although airplanes flew up above hotel in the evening.

The staff was wonderful but the hotel needs to be renovated, rebuilt and new furniture. The room needs to be cleaned and vacuumed, especially behind the headboard area. Very difficult to sleep being able to look at the inch thick dirt that was accumulated there by your head. There is also a horrible smell through out the hotel...not sure what that smell is. . .

An old hotel that apparently Howard Johnson's corporate office forgot existed and has neglected to update. You know a room has not been properly cleaned when you find money lying on the floor when you first walk into the room! The bed linens, blankets & pillows are so old, they look like relics from the fifties. I did not know people would sleep on pillows that appear to have chunks of debris just stuffed into a pillowcase, they were so lumpy, like something out of a scary movie. Linens were extremely old. And being close to the airport you would think they would have replaced the glass in the windows to reduce the noise. Don't be fooled. You will hear every little noise outside. Disappointed at best. The man at the front desk at check in was very nice. $15 for overnight parking in an unsecured lot is ridiculous. I definitely would not recommend anyone I know to stay there.

I booked for one night, when I got there to check in they told me they had no room available.. They didn't wanna refund me after all.. I had to pay for another room in a different hotel. Worst experience ever

The toilet ran all the time after flushing. We got in late and had to leave early so we did not bother notifying the front desk. Then while in the shower, the shower curtain fell. We notified the desk of both problems when checking out. So this place needs some updating and repairs, but it will do for a few hours sleep.

Room was OK. Clean, spacious and nice furnishings. Location was terrible. Nothing within walking distance and hotel restaurant was a little bit creepy. Lobby was very dated staff was less than helpful. Transportation to/from airport was great...shuttle runs every half hour 24-hours a day.
